i have a friend who is a graphic artist and he was busting my bubble a bit about the hale crater. He loves to believe things of this nature however he claims that it could have something to do with "jpegging" "JPEG" i hope he is wrong . does anyone have anything i can use to "Bust his Bubble" with

I've gone over the Hale Crater with a fine-tooth comb at least a dozen times, I still haven't got a clue what it is I'm looking at. You zoom in on the left view it's trees, zoom in on the right, it's cities. The city is not present in the left view pic, the trees aren't present on the right view pic, and neither are visible in the aerial pic.
I was looking at "Hale" on Google Mars this morning. It's not possible to get quite so in-depth with that stuff as in the ESA pics, but I made a screenshot, ran it through Photoshop and found there's another crater (or valley if prefer) just north of it, with very similar looking physical conditions to Hale. What's notable is that there is an enormous, very straight, and very long pipe-looking thing connecting the two.
Have you come across that weird thing in the ESA Hale pics that looks like a giant condom? I'm gonna put it up in a new compilation of Mars stuff at some point over the next few days, (too busy at the mo').
Let me know when you do, i'm going to do a new one meself, maybe with subtitles for the yanks lol
There's monoliths and everything up there and NASA's use of false colour is designed to make it look desolate, i've got a great photo of Phobos and it looks like a space ship and a Russian space craft was shot down by a missile from there in the 1970's.

The stereo pic of Phobos on the Scientific American website looks pretty interesting.
