As you can read on the web site of Flamenco Metronome Graf-Martinez: "Under Vista and Quicktime 7.6.5 the program is running fine here. Some users complain that it does not work - please check the try out version on your Vista system."
Version 4.0 works perfectly on Snow Leopard and Win 7.
I tried to order this metronome, but the site does not seem to be functioning properly, and I was not able to buy it. I tried to contact support, but no response. Is this metronome still available?
Although my ear is good, my timing is horrible. Knowing I need to work on timing, I just bought Graf-Martinez' compas metronome. Can someone post a video on how to actually use the metronome (ideally this one) while playing (especially for people who are completely clueless on timing).
Graf Martinez' two books and dvds are incredibly good. They are easy to understand and make it easy to work on the exercises (like I said, I am a beginer). I know that practicing with the metronome is crucial, so I know once I am start using it I'll take full advantage of his books.
I don't know why Flamenco musicians don't also include talas (cycles) from Indian music, especially the 16 beat tintal cycle. [And there is absolutely no reason why tablas can't be used in Flamenco effectively also. Musicians become so protective of traditions and forget that traditions have always evolved, so who is to say when evolution has to stop? Indian music (via Gypsies) is the origin of many aspects in Indian music.]
You can read all about this in Graf-Martinez' Flamenco guitar books and many other books. Also the 4-beats (2/2, 2/4, 4/4, 4x4) are used in many palos of the Flamenco and provided in the metronome. Your are right the gypsies origninated in India (Rajasthan).
Traditions do evolve when they become uneffective in their current form, not just because something could be oh so cool. Anyway, a 16 is by itself against the basic estructures of flamenco. Despite what you may say, flamenco musicians have been inventing for centuries. They have had simply no need for that elements.
the intro of the video is great, what is it D:
