why would a band cover a song a play it the original way, theres nothing impressive about that. misery signals took a great song and made it their own, not like what btbam did when they just "played" the song(not hating, love btbam), wasn't even a cover to me, the point was to make it a metalcore song you dumbass sanious, this is a cover and fuckin god damned good one at that, so gtfo
This is horrible. I don't understand why THQ couldn't use the original songs for homefront. They even used a cover band for CREEDANCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL. What the actual fuck, you can't replace the Creedance. You can't replace the Floyd either.
@crazymonkey246810 Bands who cover songs aren't trying to "replace" bands. Covering a song is a sign of respect. Maybe it's just me, but I like most genres of music. Because of that, I love hearing new twists of songs. Whether it be Hendrix covering Dylan, Cash covering NiN, Emily Wells covering Juicy, Hellsongs covering Walk or Limp Bizkit covering Geroge Michael. You may not like the cover itself, but how can you not appreciate and enjoy hearing a totally new twist on a song?
Love both bands. (BTBAM and Misery Signals.) Loved both their covers of the songs, I actually prefer BTBAMs, probably just because the screaming actually didn't work for me in this cover.
I am a huge metal fan, and generally any metal cover is automatically better than the original. This is fact. But then... Pink Floyd? Dude, that's like sacrilege! I mean you just can't cover Floyd. But wait? What's this? This song is actually awesome?! Argh! What to do? I don't want to like it but I can't help myself, it rules!
go to fucking hell, all of you, this is the fucking worst song i have ever heard, you took a perfectly good pink floyd song and ruined if i ever see the lead singer im going to remove his balls with vice grips, maybe that will get the message across.
@Pauln2008 OMG I'M STILL FAT WITH LONG HAIR TO MY ASS PINK FLOYD HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU COVER WUT IS SCREAMING DOUBLE BASSWTF THAT WAS LIKE IN JAZZ WTF GOD DAMNIT RAGE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH A GUITAR TUNED LOWER THAN STANDARD WTFFWTF
@Pauln2008 I had the privilege of meeting karl, and he's a pretty cool guy. Some jackass almost stole his hat when he was leaning over the mosh pit though, and I managed to get the mic for a part of a song :) best concert ever. Oh yeah, and chill out.
Pretty good song. Misery Signals is generally better than BTBAM; BTBAM falls prey to just jizzing on their instruments in some songs, without much cohesiveness. Misery Signals' songs always come together nicely.
@hardcorecrispy Man, between the Buried and Me are my favorite band but all of their covers sucked imo. This is better. (never thought I'd say anything is better than btbam, but truth is truth)
@alphaking300 most def dude but it didnt suck per say i only know of a few covers better than the originals scarlet begonias that sublime covered from the grateful dead and basically any metallica cover due to my passion of hatred towards that band
@oohmammaoohmamma Fair playy, Periphery's cover of One on the same album as this is absolutely abysmal though. And I usually think Periphery are alright.
@Sanious such a productive, informative and objective response, man I love Youtube comments: Here you will find the height of articulate and intelligent discussion about the content of the video. Or not, so it seems.
@alphaking300 I'm sorry, when yours wasn't that at all I didn't think I had to really spell it out for you. But since you're on a high horse. The cover was ok until the out of place screaming just took the whole song to an even lower level.
Atleast the BTBAM cover does it in the way where it actually sounds like Pink Floyd but has their influence. Not 'Hey, we're a metalcore band, let's take a song that isn't a metalcore song and make it one'. Bravo.
@Sanious So you think it's a good thing to not bring anything new to a song? If you want to listen to weak replicas of originals, go to any pub on the weekend. To me, the BtBaM covers brought nothing new to the table and really didn't hit the mark. This is a metalcore interpretation of a prog-rock classic: That's the point. If you want to hear the prog-rock version, listen to the Pink Floyd original. I'm not quite sure what you were expecting when you clicked on a Misery Signals video, really..
@alphaking300 I wouldn't call taking a song from a different genre and making this what it is anything new either. I clicked because I actually like (or liked) Misery Signals at one point and I was curious when I saw they covered this song.
I really like what Branden did with the drums. He took one of my favorite aspects of metal and implemented it tastefully into a classic, which is easier said than done considering how drums were neglected in the classic rock song-writing process. Well done!
It's funny how these guys did this cover as a 3-piece band and it's just as powerful. Misery Signals is truly one of the best, original metal bands out there right now. Bar none.
I'm a HUGE Btbam fan and actually prefer this version, though btbam's is much more faithful to the original. I just like that they added their own flare to it.
This is just wonderful. Been playing it on repeat the last few days at work. Their new album needs to come out, like now.
