Hey... Does anyone think that the PlayStation version is unbalanced? I've read a review and I disagree... but i think you guys here are the better judge.
The US version's difference is that attacking drains your SP, on the other hand, attacking enemies of the same attribute drains SP instead of damaging.
it's the little things that make this rock, it's a retro style that desperately needs a rebirth, the music is more addicting than crack, and the background being so detailed and things like enemies emerging from the foreground is just breathtaking. Why on Earth this game was only released in Japan is beyond me
As much as I agree with you and as true as what you said is, the reason why games like this always fail is because the general gaming public is stupid.
They think any 2-D sprite based game is crap. It's been that way since blocky polygons were first introduced on the PS1, which is also the time when casual gamers took the industry into the ground.
This game is one of the greatest of all time imo. I've owned my same copy since I first imported it during my college days in 1997.
This is by Treasure, makers of hardcore 2D classics like Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga. They also made a great 3D shoot em' up on N64 called Sin And Punishment.
Silhouette Mirage is one AWESOME game! It's a grandiose shame that a lot of gamers today just want empty, 3D eye candy and shallow gameplay instead of creativity and ingenuity in games. I'm NOT BASHING 3D games at all. There's alot of 'em I like, but overall, I find them somewhat more difficult to get into like I can with some of my 2D games.
i totally agree, a prime example of 2D over 3D are the latest Sonic games. It seems like game devs want everything in 3D these days "just because they can" regardless to whether it destroys the game or upsets long time fans.
This fish girl is SCARY! O_O

Did you know that by pushing them with the reflector, you could push the mechs off the back of the train? it was a very easy way to kill them.

The US PSX version IS harder, but not THAT hard.

No matter how hard I try, I can hardly comprehend how they managed to create the reflections on the buildings. Absolutely stunning.

A Treasure games means awesome bosses.
And that fish-girl thing is pretty damn freaky. I love this game and I haven't even played it yet.

yeah, if you're going to go 3D at least make a formula that works or do what Tecmo did with Kalona 2
