If you look in Wiki, CLAMP based the entire storyline on mythologies based on the Apocalypse, the main character (Kamui) standing in as a loosely based Christ figure and Tokyo standing in as a Babylon, where two sides fight each other for the fate of the world's end (Angels vs. Devils). Kamui basically is forced to choose which side he should take, and his alterego is forced to take the opposite side and fight him. Even the girl's computer in the series has the number 666 on it O.O

Clamp didn't fuck up this and Code Geass because of no direct Yoai references. Tsubasa was on the brink of being allright but it didn't make it, The rest can go die in a pit somewhere.

Yaoi's not bad if it's used correctly with a good storyline, but even so, it's fine if you don't like yaoi, but I'd say there were some yaoi references in X/1999 at least (I haven't watched CG yet) or at least shounen-ai.

Tsubasa in my opinion is okay... I had wished it to be better in my opinion. xxxHolic is a great series though, I recommend that if you haven't seen/read it already. :)

Well, the X/1999 manga series was remain unfinished because its violence scene, but in the tv shows they make a clear ending

the character in original X are far away better than their counterpart in the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle

This is great series, too bad the manga never concluded. The one thing about the manga is that it repeats the whole "choose dragons of earth or heaven, the end of the world...etc." in every volume for way too many pages that a causal reader would get bored. The tv series did a great job of condsensing the main story without leaving out anything important. The song is awesome and the image and sound of the earth splitting at the end always and I do mean always, sends chills down my spine.

I think that X/1999 is one, if not 'the' Clamp masterpiece. The song eXDream has lyrics and a tempo that truly fit the overall story, in all its angsty glory.

For the romance part, it's obvious enough that there isn't any major fluff (except maybe Sorata and Arashi), but the romance is there, just mixed in with some angst and drama. It's what I'd call a romantic tragedy of sorts.
