how else are you going to get 1000 pound cow into a trailer. They don't traipse in there. Usually, you have some working pens with a chute and a ramp to put them in, but these are some wild cows off the highway that the sheriff just pushed into our pasture to get them off the road. Even in regular round ups, people use cattle prods in the pens. What are they using in other parts of the country? That would be interesting to know.
There's a bit of a difference between wild and broken free. Those cattle look dehorned and grain fed, so I presume they are escapees. Even if they are wild, it's quite obvious that prod isn't doing a thing to persuade her to go in there. We use paddles and noise makers. And we don't whack them with the paddles. That still doesn't explain dragging an animal by its tail and ears. Use the legs next time. Ears break free and tails separate from the base.
I asked my husband about the paddles and he said that he has used paddles and they work pretty well. He filmed the movie. He said he did not agree with how the cows were handled that day, but they were not his cows and the owner of the cows was present and had hired the guys to come and get them. And, he doesn't tell other people how to handle their cows.
