  • You may put a finger into the design and touch the foam to see if it is getting dry. But it's always a good idea to add a little water every few days to a foam base. I usually take my design and place it under a tap of water. When the water runs off the container, I know that the foam is saturated and then I empty the excess water. Hope this is helpful.

  • How do I water the keep the foam base moist?

  • I grew up in the floral field. Third generation. I have four university degrees including both a Masters and also a Doctorate in Education. Thanks for asking.

  • Doctor of what subject?

  • I had made something like this using silk flowers.

  • Contact any retail florist in your area. They should be able to help you get the materials that you need.

  • Thank you so much for such a thorough lesson. You take your time, and you mention each piece used in the arrangement. I do have one question. I work mainly with silk flowers, but have a difficult time finding the foliage. Any suggestions?

  • Thank you!

  • This is absolutely beautiful!!!

  • @BergundyBelle

    Thank you!

  • It's awesome the idea that a centerpiece last. Thanks for sharing. How do you wire the pine cones?

  • @zapamipi Thanks for your comment. Tie some florist wire, (good to use a heavy guage) in through the bottom of the pine cone. You may sometimes also buy cones with picks that have already been added.
