Un artista che comincia facendo bebop, genere comunque marginale, si evolve, rivoluziona l'universo jazz e finisce col collaborare nella realizzazione di un pezzo hip hop è sicuramente da annoverare tra i migliori di sempre.

GUYS! miles didn't go with rap, very recent songs like this one, duke booty (even not on youtube but awesome stuff) and etc, were recorded when he was playing for himself in a room (trumpet solo) and then have been edited rap and other beat stuff.
OMG, i`ve been looking for this video for years, i knew this theme, from the 90`s and really loved it from the first time, now it`s so good to find it here, thanx for the post ironblade1088 i do apreciate it, enjoy the joy
It's said people call Miles Davis a sell-out. As if it's bad to make money. Yet, he made money with his albums while still being a credible artist, making something genuine, moving, and down right bad ass. I think many labelled him as such because he broke away from the traditions they liked, forgetting jazz always blurred the lines of genres.
God bless you Miles. I expect if there were a rapture, you'd be the one playing that great horn!
pamietam jak w polowie lat 90 robilismy szybki ,,gipsowy,, remont mieszkani po imprezie, sluchajac w/w plytki.... dzien skonczyl sie kolejna masowa imprezka.......
@PoeticalTechnique - 100% - this track is the jump-off point for the future of all real music - something beyond Hip-Hop ? something called Super-Jazz ? Hip-Hop + Jazz = Super-Jazz ? Miles have laid the foundation stone - do he have any followers ?
still so actual! I bought the vinile in the late 80s (if I am not wrong) I was a teen ager... the successive LP I bought was the next week appetite for destruction from GnR... a bit ecclettic dont you think so? Anyway great song from a great album
Didn't know that Easy Mo Bee also kicks rhymes! But I always liked his productions. One of my favorite producers. And everytime I hear Miles playing, I get the urge to learn playing the trumpet.
Miles plays deceptively relaxed and easy-going trumpet over simple beats and raps - Doo-Bop is one of the greatest albums I have ever listened to - in just 9 short songs he represents the 'Totality-of-Music-Itself' - Musical Sleight-Of-Hand at its Apex - MILES AT HIS PEAK - one last wink before he left us all
Mo Bee is the last one, isn´t he? Legendary producer.
It was said Miles Davis had sold out because of this album (his last one, a hip-hop album with Mo Bee producing); he was making it because rap was in fashion, they said... Well, you see the result so many years later: a great joint, classic flavor in it.
@Ironblade1088 Miles Davis - The Doo Bop Song Label: Warner Bros. Thanks for uploading this. I use music to teach African American History and included this in a lesson called the History of Jazz. Most of my students had never heard it, but grooved to it immediately. They were shocked that it was Miles Davis. He was called a "sellout" by some jazz purists, but I viewed him as a visionary. I heard it on a few hip hop stations, but I don't think they knew what to do with it. It is one of the best hip hop songs ever. Classic Miles, lead don't follow.
now this is one of the originators of this beautiful music mixing hip hop with jazz called doo bop, this is older than this video, lets start with my man Quincy Jones. Marvelous music!!!
Always loved this song. Smooth as silk and never knew it had a video! Classic.
