@Rotebuehl1 - Thank you so much for this PRICELESS VIDEO, for I love both Mozart as a composer and Bidu Sayao as an interpreter. I'm delighted with the pearl!
Interesting to hear her sing a mezzo part! I just learned a few weeks ago that she was actually a member of Brazilian royalty. Her father died when she was a child and her vocal studies were paid for by her family's wealth. The night she made her Met debut I believe her mother called her to scold her, 'Only whores perform on stage!' Anyway, one of the greats.
@GermanOperaSinger@Rotebuehl1 -Bidú Sayão was NOT a member of the Royal family, trust me! If she were there would never have been a singing career, since aristocrats, until recently would never have been permitted to set foot on stage, without bringing scandal & disgrace to the family. She born to a very cultured (but middle class) family in Rio de Janeiro. Her father died when she was five years old and her mother had to struggle to support her daughter's costly pursuit of a singing career.
impeccable dicction, but the voice is weak for my taste

Sayão, despite all the clarity of her light tone, had a most beautiful and easy low register. It doesn't seem to exist something she couldn't do. :-)
