Personally I think that it's because humans have just gotten so used to 'standard mathematics' that they have to see things as quantifiable when they're not. Such as space-time; 4 dimensions, yet one thing. So is it 4, or one? And if 4 is just a measure of the one, I'll throw relativity at you and you explain that!

The comet that just went through the Sun's corona and stayed frozen proved that it is possible for ice to survive there for an hour, BUT the Sun was quiet therefore the only factor that must be taken out is the "fact" that the Sun is hot. The Sun is actually electric and the plasma and CMEs are what destroy comets not the heat. There was No activity on the Sun when Lovejoy made its historic journey through the corona.

i know i have a far fetched and maybe a little crazy theory, but i think in a dream state one can travel to these alternate realities. last night i had a lucid dream except that i was completely convinced that i was actually awake and not in a dream. i was conscientious about my actions and words. i was so convinced that it was real that i question my aunt and uncle in the dream if i were really in colorado (right now i'm in louisiana.) the world was slightly different, but very real.

DMT is an amazing molecule however. in a metaphysical sense, it doesn't necessarily eliminate my theory, it might go hand to hand with it.

We have 4 essential building blocks of matter. Gravity (G) Strong Neculear force(S) Weak neculear force(W) Electromagnetic force(E). Gods and devils are manipulative inventions to control mind power and so are many of the new age theories which require you to accept on faith someone elses interpretation. Science is also one of these forces.
If there is a space for a thing it manifests, if many people believe something it gives mind power to the idea. Fear is one of the most effective control mechanisms.

String theory is metaphysics there's no getting away from it. It's theory and is impossible to prove. We have such limited senses and even our measuring machines can only interact with us through our senses so we are terribly handicapped to begin with. The problem is that despite the metaphysics of string theory it's still a mechanical description.

Perhaps during evolution, the amount of neurons in our brains reached a critical limit and gave rise to "conciousness", but we don't have "souls". The problem is that you're looking for a reason for us being here; why should there be a reason? Try and look at the universe as a bunch of particles and energy, instead of being humanocentric. Humans are absolutely irrelevant on the grand scale.
