@sdaklivin26 HAHA! I'll bet you only shoot 3 1/2's out of an autoloader too? Got a 8" lift on your truck?
9 Doz Pro Grades? You spent a grand on decoys? I wouldn't go around bragging about that. Real duck hunters laugh at dummies like you. We hunt over 2 dozen cheap decoys with grandpas old wooden calls and limit every time we leave the house. I've hunted over painted half gallon milk jugs with a break action .410 and limited. New hunters are retarded! What a waste of time and money.
I have hunted with guys who use 500+ goose decoys. they incorporate sock decoys and silhouettes in with shells and full bodies. They have 2 full enclosed trailers full! But I am not that well off!
I have only hunted yotes a few times. No success. My buddy just bought a 22-250 and we will be trying after waterfowl season is over here in Illinois.
You need as many as you can afford or as many as you can haul to the water. A couple dozen Magnum Mallards usually does the trick. Gotta leave room for them to land also.
I'd have to disagree on the goldeneye issue. It depends a lot on where you hunt. Many areas in Idaho will hold rafts of several hundred goldeneyes. Hunters targeting divers will set up very large spreads of goldeneye decoys. They can be decoyed with much less, but the most effective method is over large spreads of black and whites.
@blumpkinish painted half gallon jugs?not trying to be rude but how does that work.
