I understand how you feel Zen. I lost my Mother because she had breast cancer & while the holidays are not bad, but I still miss her because Christmas was her fav holiday. It's just not the same without her. My most fav Christmas without a doubt is A Christmas Story! (Have you seen it? If not you should, it's a riot!) I also love "Home Alone" & " The Grinch" movie as well. Hang in there Good Buddy, hang in!
But I know what you mean when you talk about loosing your mum, its probably the - worst - thing a son can go through. What you need to do is find another girl to replace her, someone to snuggle up with and laugh and have a good time.
Cook yourself a nice chicken with stuffing and roast potatoes with gravy and little sausages that go around the chicken, get some beer, (maybe get some greeny cigarettes) ;) and watch some films, or go downstairs and walk to the bus stop or take a walk and seduce a nice babe, it's all in confidence Zen, read Ovid "the art of love" ;)
All your rotisserie chickenz are belong to boo kitty..resistance is futile
I have similar holidays, there is a 'grass is always greener on the other side' effect in play here, the solitude is often more enjoyable IMO, but you don't see it until you're experiencing the stresses of holiday obligations.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother! This seems to be about the worst time of the year to have something like that happen. But it's nice to hear that you're doing better! I think I speak for all of us when I say that we like watching a happy Zen. :D
I have two movies that I must watch for Christmas: Home Alone and, my favorite, Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. Absolute classics!
I LOVE deviled eggs. Never tried horseradish, will try that next. Paprika for sure. To jolt myself out of, well, I have mac-n-cheese but only Stoffer's. And I visit the beach.
*hugs* hon. You have been through so much. No one should be alone for the holidays. A Christmas movie of mine is "Silent Night" about a WW2 Christmas dinner between 2 Americans and 2 Germans, and learning to understand eachother.
I second coke, and my favorite movie around Christmas time oddly enough is Back to the Future Part III, when I was a kid for some reason around every Christmas TNT showed that movie, usually back to back, fond memories, glad to see you back and well, take care and happy holidays!
I know how you feel. My mom has passed too and not too long ago. I even have sadness during the time change because I would call her to remind her. She isn't there to call anymore. This Thanksgiving was a bit sadder because my pet rat died the night before in his sleep. Anyway, 2 favorite Christmas movies are Mixed Nuts and The Polar Express. Not the usual maybe. When I was a kid it was Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman.
hope all is well with you and boo kitty.my favorite comfort food is pizza and some french fries.if you ever need a friend or someone to talk to i am here for ya bro.love ya
A must-see (short) movie on Christmas eve is the Snowman cartoon, just before the declaration of Christmas peace (scandinavian tradition) on tv. It's been aired every Christmas for the past 20 years so for me it means that you can finally relax and do nothing but eat well and open presents (over here we open presents on Christmas eve and YES, Santa lives in Finnish Lapland not North Pole! :D) So glad to see you Zen, I missed you!
Hey zen, I spent thanks giving alone this year too, I had a delivery pizza haha, my favorite food :) Those eggs looked DELICIOUS!
I usually can't feel better when I am down, I usually have some good reasons to feel that way and just have to let time mend the wounds. Thanks for sharing zen, I love to get a small peek into your world, hope the holidays are special.
When I'm down I like to spend time alone and read, or workout at the gym. Baking a pizza would be comfort food to me. I have to bake it myself though. There's just something about cooking it yourself that makes it more comforting. Hope you feel better.
I have been having trouble with my Christmas spirit this year too...I heard on the radio today that the reason people dread Christmas is because they focus on bad Christmases of past...the thing to do is try not to think of the past and focus on the Christmas at hand...good ole deviled eggs...I always put garlic in mine...yummy...oh yeah "It's a wonderful life" works for me...Hope you get your spirit back...
Hope things get better and that ol' holiday spirit sneaks in and gives you a smile for the season. I always watch the Alastair Sim version of SCROOGE from the 1950s, it was really one of the very finest versions of the classic story. I also enjoy the movies you mentioned, a classic cartoons like A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS and RUDOLPH. I pretty much eat garbage, burgers and pizza, etc. all year long, these things definitely give me comfort! lol Seasons greetings, Zen! :)
