I love John Jacobson; the music he has composed, the choreography he does for kids' pieces...it's top-notch, kids LOVE IT! And being a fellow music teacher, I'd say perhaps the stage wasn't the place for him, but he definitely has a talent for teaching kids--maybe if the audience and judges were kids, they would have thought he had "talent" :)
