  • @Maverickrad fuck your shit mouth asshole

  • @Maverickrad I guess that's why the GEnx-2B is 2.7% off its target vector for SFC, resulting in compensation payments been made to Cargolux before the operator would accept delivery of its 748Fs and why Atlas Air cancelled 3 of the 12 748Fs it had on order for the very same reason. As for the GEnx-1B on the 787, it currently lags behind the T1000 on SFC according to Boeing and GE themselves. Yeah, those GE engines sure are way ahead..lol! Seems you've been taking too many happy pills.

  • Shame on Beoing for going with R/R. I hope GE is atleast an option for the airlines.

  • @101HeyNow whats wrong with rols royce

  • amazing technology

  • I have heard somewhere that every blade produces 200 HP.

  • 3:00 is wut yous came to watch :)

  • @cesar333...probably last a 1/3 as long too!

  • @Cleo The Trent 900 produces 35000lbs of force, so the trent 1000 maybe even more.

  • @TonyDeMarco79

The Trent 900 is rated between 70.000 and 80.000lbf, the Trent 1000 between 53.000 and 75.000lbf.

  • @blablubb12345 I totally agree with you, but the documentary I watched gave those numbers for the trent 900, but I totally agree with you, and it gave those numbers for the A380 at that. :-)

  • either way, im fascinated by the overall technology of airplanes.

  • @blablubb12345 the trent 1000 has been uprated to 95,000lbs, for the A350-1000. at the request of cathay pacific for a HGW version.

  • geez that bastard is huge...how much horsepower does that engine produce?

  • Somebody get me a Hammer, Chizzle and a 2x4

  • It starts spin at 3:00 .

  • @julesgymnast Trent XWB will have a full bleed air and Trent 900 has bleed air, it was a boeing requirement that it was electronic.

And its only a regulation to contain the fan in a faliure, the turbine should never shatter but, unfortunately it did. It seems all the great companies just dont put as much care into their work as they used to, its a great shame.

  • @julesgymnast Its quite different from the Trent 900 as it has an extra LP turbine stage and features no bleed air system and the PTO is from the IP shaft rather than the HP shaft.

With regard to the uncontained failures, they both suffered the same failure because of an oil fire, but they haven't disclosed if it is the same thing causing the oil fire.

All it was on the 900 was misaligned bore holes in the IP turbine cavity

  • So freaky nice. I want one. Or two :p And some fuselage. Don't forget the wings!

  • These engines cost as much as a top of the range BMW, difficult to believe really.

  • @1965guitarboy these engines cost many millions of dollars. You will be able to buy quite a number of top of the range BMW's or even Maybachs for that money.

  • Comment removed

  • @ediandpen No, they are very cheap.they contain no real moving parts even, just a couple of fans, thats why they are so light. Same price as cheaper porche, ( not a convertable one).

  • @ediandpen Yep they cost a packet, we have an Avon at the Uni. Just kiddin'.

  • @1965guitarboy Cheaper than that.

  • @1965guitarboy a single blade for a 747 trent engine is over 70 000 usd, a bmw isnt even a blip on rolls royces radar.

  • @preludefan Yes I am familiar with the cost of precision made titanium component for modern turbofans thanks.

  • @1965guitarboy eh? do u know what a trent 900 costs? at list price $16.5 million each

  • @jamesgreen456 My sense of humour. I know a fair bit about aircraft. A life long interest that friends knew about, but I would become very serious and point out that a Tornado jet cost as much as a slightly used top of the range Porche, I liked the reaction.

  • Why do all jet engines have a whirl on the tip?

  • what are 22 workers of airbus doing in youtube? go and start projecting airbus a390

  • Kaboom 1000.

  • pod racing time

  • Anyone know when the Chinese will steal these engine and make them for a 1/3 of the price??? Anyone???

  • @cesar333 Already have, but they're selling it as the trent 900. That's why Qantas had all those problems.

  • Comment removed

  • @cesar333 I'm sure some vapid 4 eyed beancounter at RR is eyeing this right now

  • @cesar333 I dont know BUT when it happens its the day I stop flying!

  • @cesar333 the chinks could never replicate a rolls engine most of the production methods are custom and closely gaurded company secrets

  • @cesar333

Chinese no need to steal...they will just take it or US sell it for cents....lol

  • @cesar333 then paint them with lead lol

  • @cesar333 the chinese couldnt make love never mint these trent 1000 engines

  • @cesar333 never

  • @cesar333 I hope not.

  • @cesar333 Soon !!

  • @cesar333 as soon as the chinese buys a boeing plane. but having an engine doesn't mean you know how to reverse engineer the whole thing. engine is such a complex structure.

  • @cesar333 im sure other countrys will say we can make these but can they be trusted to make these, uve got advanced places like japan that dont play a big part of the market

  • @cesar333 Have you bought anything from China? They do make it cheap, but the quality, precision and tolerances are just not there on the Chinese copies, and the material composition of fan blades would not be there either, there is a difference between copying a lawnmower or a dirtbike and copying a large turbofan engine. They would also have to copy the computers and programming that contol these engines

  • @cesar333 china buy these engines for their fleet lol

  • @cesar333 So far it´s impossible to since RR is taking it seriously covered how to make specific parts, mostly those which provide such efficiency. And even if Chinese people could build replica of Trent 1000 for 1/3 of cost, no1 would probably buy it, RR has reputation like no other company in world and warranty that is provided by RR is simply lol, 24/7 monitoring of all new engines, I mean seriously this is service.

  • @cesar333 yes and they will last for 5 min as all other chinese shit, god help us!

  • @cesar333 It will be called lolls-lies troll 1337

  • @cesar333 why should it be cheaper you idiot these things cost millions, it doesnt matter if the workers get paid 2 dollars or 20 in such price difference

  • @cesar333 Going on sale next week at Walmart.com for $500,000 USD.

  • @cesar333 never ever dickspring

  • BOEING ROCKS!

  • @KuyaBillRomjue Boeing? This video is about a turbofan engine made by Rolls-Royce.... lol

  • Boeing 747-8 used GE ;D

  • I am going to be that guy and say...... GE is where its at bitches!!!!

  • @brentsrx7 747-8 ueses GENEX only as GE paid boeing $50million and agreed to cost share the risk of the planes development

  • @jamesgreen456 I am going to go out on a limb and say that The RR power plant failed bird strike testing right before production. I know for a fact that the 787 was intended to have 2 available engine packages, one from RR and one from GE. Please elaborate.

  • @brentsrx7 the 787 was originally only going to have the GEnex has the sole engine, however due to airline pressure Boeing had to relent, thus the trent 1000 and the GEnex have full status. this is a first.

on the "bird strike". it was an "uncontained intermediate turbine failure" due to a fire in the engine oil system. hope that helps?

  • @jamesgreen456 Yeah, that sounds about right, thanks! Is there any delay on 787 delivery due to the recent RR mishap? I am curious, and had a hard time finding details.

  • @brentsrx7 not sure il find out what i can

  • @brentsrx7 on july 15th 2010 Boeing announced that the delivery to ANA would slip back to 2011,27th august Boeing and RR stated a lack of Trent 1000`s as the reason, this was due to the shut down of the test rig at RR, after a fault was found on the rig that caused the fault that i mentioned earlier. it was the test rig that causedd it not the actual engine itself.

  • @brentsrx7 then boeing announced that the delivery date would be delayed for three months due to rework issues found during test flights.in january 2011 a further delay was announced due to electrical and software updates after the inflight fire.then the national labor relation board shut boeings 2nd production line in SC due to violations in labor laws

  • Whats the average number of man hours per engine? That looks like alot of wiring but at least the design looks modular.

  • voodoo who payed you to say that

  • Chuck Norris made this engine.

  • listen to the silence of these workshops. my personal judgement on the precision or professionalism of a workshop is the amount of banging or yelling you hear.Real pro workshops like these have low human noise levels.

  • look at us humans, making such complex machinery.

  • Rolls Royce trent engines are the best amongst the all. Good performance, amazing sound ofcourse, very good quality:)) The new A380 is also with RR trent engines....

I wish to fly any of these heroes in future, ohh yes, i will ! i'm an A340 pilot so good experience and good intruments ratings :D

  • just wait China will be building these.. becouse we will be sending the work to them....than who can compete

  • All of the claimed "innovations" on the GEnx have been used by Rolls Royce for decades: Modular design, electronic engine 'self analysis' swept, low weight fan blades (titanium is far better than Carbon fibre) high chord fan blades (first seen in RB-211) double annular combustor and many more. RR is 20 years ahead of GE, same as Airbus is 20 years ahead of Beoing.

  • @05u16hep Well said.

  • @05u16hep @peanuts2105 Thanks for the litany of meaningless generalizations. GE is the world leader in innovation..GE-90 is the most powerful engine ever built .Show me a brand new GE engine exploded! like Trent 900 of Quantas A-380..Another RR fuckup .

GE has 55% market share with A-380.. The engine alliance is considered by Airbus itself as the most innovative powerplant . RR is a debris from the past dude.

    In military engines,RR is insignificant.

  • @FORBAN2 Firstly... "dude", RR has many industries firsts that only GE can dream about. First modular engines for easy repair, first fly-by-wire throttle, first titanium primary blades (lighter than CF) etc etc.

RR power more than 60% of the American navy.

RR are used in AH-64's and CH-47's, C-130's because they are more powerful and efficient than the competition.

RR Pegasus need I say more about that... Concord RR Olympus engines.

Oh yeah - RR holds more than 70% market share of airliners

  • @peanuts2105 Wrong again pal as always.RR doesnt power any fighter in US NAVY.

All SuperHornets,F-14's are powered by GE and PW..RR powers only AH-64's of the British Army, the US and the rest of the world use GE engines.Again ,only Royal Airforce C-130's are powered by RR and they are very small almost in numbers almost infinitesimal .RR pegasus belongs to museums.Olympus engines?? half of it is French and power only 13 Concordes..Hope you realized the sort of nonsense you just posted.

  • @FORBAN2 Wrong wrong wrong. Rolls Royce powered the US Marines Harrier jet. LOL

  • @peanuts2105 apache uses t700-GE-701c and chinook uses lycoming t55-GA-712 turboshafts and the only aircraft in the air forces is the gr9 harrier and they use pegs if im not mistaken

  • @FORBAN2 only reason that the engine alliance has a 55% share is due to emerates large order for the A380-800. omly air france and korean are 7200 customers. all the others are RR 900

  • @05u16hep Airbus is 20 years ahead?? how do you measure this dude??

Do you have an idea that nearly 50% of an A-380 comes from suppliers in the US??

Landing gear and actuators for flight controls GOODRICH,engines GE&Pratt and avionics Honeywell and Rockwell Collins and you call this European ??? RR didn't designed an engine of its own since Pegasus in 1966 for Harrier..Pratt and GE are few decades ahead !

  • @FORBAN2 Yes I know that lots of airbus parts come from US suppliers, same as lots of Boeing parts come from UK suppliers. Infact 787 components are electroplated in my home town. Do you know who invented and patanted the swept fan blade, as seen on the GE-90 115B, GP7200 ect? Rolls Royce. This innovation alone allows for a far greater mass flow rate whith half the noise and less tourque. And I know RR dont make everything themselves, quite alot is made by kawasaki. Same can be said about GE...

  • @05u16hep Pal.The 787 was an exception..Instead of buying from domestic suppliers Boeing went shopping worldwide and made a cardinal mistake..The result is a delay of more than 2 years. Unlike Europe,Boeing doesn't need outsourcing .The US has most advance and versatile aerospace supplier base in the world, nobody comes close Airbus depended on US suppliers from the very beginning and still does.Airbus fly-by wire electronics, computers ,hardware, software all designed and developed in the US.

  • @FORBAN2

Airbus Avionics systems are build by Thales and Diehl Aerospace or by Airbus themselves. Same for the flight software. What about all that tax-funded research done by NASA which Boeing got for free? In fact, Boeing is as subsidized as Airbus, face it.

  • @blablubb12345 Wrong ,half of Airbus avionics come from the US, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins. Just like the engines You compare apple with orange pal..Boeing doesn't receive cash money from the US government. defence orders is another thing .If the EADS would do the same,Boeing would not complain it. So the WTO has decided that it was Airbus which was subsidized illegally .Airbus come up with the same argument as you did, it didnt work ! THEREFORE, A-350 won't get any susbsidy !!!

  • @FORBAN2 they seem to not understand the difference between civil customers and also defense contractors. The government is still technically a customer.

  • @blablubb12345 Dude. .Airbus never makes Avionics ! as a matter of fact Airbus don't produce anything.

It buys all the things it needs from suppliers worldwide, mostly from the US I might add and installs them.

Yes ,Thales and Diehl Germany make avionics, actually they are the only avionics manufacturers outside the US but Honeywell and Rockwell Collins together make 60-70% of all the avionics installed in an Airbus.

  • @05u16hep So your statement Airbus is 20 years ahead of Boeing is probably a wishful thinking.. Yes , Airbus received illegal funds from German ,French governments for decades as Sidewinder188 pointed out correctly without which Airbus would never have developed 330 and 380 models and competed with Boeing in wide body segment and the WTO has recently condemmed Airbus and as a result the Airbus will not receive any subsidies for A-350.It has been proven beyond reasonable doubt. But anyway

  • @05u16hep the competition is good and healthy . I am not against Airbus ..Had it not been for the Airbus,we would still be flying good old 707's and 727..

  • @05u16hep I come from aviation..787 had some serious problems with Trent1000 I dont know if they have been rectified but its not as serious as this Quantas A-380 incident which will cost RR dearly..Airbus recommends to all potential customers for A-380 the Engine Alliance of GE&PW and not RR as powerplant because its more innovative and reliable..I know this from reliable sources.GE is leaps and bounds ahead of RR today simply because they have 20 times more money available for R&D as simple

  • @sidewinder188 Dou you realise just how many GE90 faliures there have been? I was stuck in mexico for 2 days because the 777-300ER I was flying on had an engine problem, fitted with GE-90 85B' s (Aircraf G-VIIO). There have been multiple uncontained CF-6 faliures recently too, but they never get reported. Yes, rolls royce has cokced up a single weld on an oil pipe, but the technolgy is there. As I said to FORBAN, RR patanted the swept fan blade and is taking PW to court for using it.

  • @05u16hep as that RR core engine technology dates back to 1960's !!!

FORBAN2 is correct GE-90115 is generally considered the most advance gas turbine ever built even the British Airways has chosen it over Trent 700 to power their 777. Airbus is a state financed and illegally subsidized company ( according to WTO) as opposed to Boeing which is a private group owned by 2 million shareholders which want to see profits. The most vital supplier base of Airbus is in the US !! Engines, avionics

  • @sidewinder188 British airways only uses the GE-90 on 777-300ER aircraft because it is the only option. All of BA's 777-200's use Rolls Royce Trent 800. Just because the GE90 115 is the most powerful, doesent mean its the best. Airbus is not state subsidised, it nis owned by EADS, that is a scam by the US governemnt to try and eliminate Boeings competiton, same reason the RR trent faliure was all over the news. Again, there is a company near where I live that makes 787 seats and 787 avionics...

  • @05u16hep A comment you made several weeks ago.."British airways only uses the GE-90 on 777-300ER aircraft because it is the only option."..Don't know if you're aware but the reason GE have "exclusivity" on the 777ER/LR is because GE's CEO did a deal with Boeing, offering them $500m and dressing it up as "joint R&D". Funny how GE's CEO at the time is now Boeing's CEO! The Trent 8104/5 were ahead of GE but their offering was ignored. And America accuses Europe of subsidies distorting competition!

  • @BOACMach2 I'm not surprised, the americans have screwed us out of an aviation industry almost all together. Concorde had over 100 orders before the US decided it was too noisy for their fragile ears, and, funnily enough after almost all of the orders were canceled they decided it wasnt too noisy to land in the US after all.

And the 727 design was announced shortly after a Boeing official visited the HS Trident factory.

Funny that. They're bent as a 9 bob note.

  • Comment removed

  • @05u16hep... Ironic huh!..And you're 110% right. Having read around the Trident/727 matter, it's clear that the Trident was years ahead in terms of technology (autoland etc.) but it's equally clear that it was mis-managed by the Government & BEA who completely missed the opportunity of making it a world beater. No small wonder the Americans came along & copied it but giving it more powerful engines and a greater payload. The rest is history.

  • @05u16hep -Boeing had planned for some time to produce a smaller short/medium hall aircraft to compliment the Boeing 707. It seems the rear mount engine configuration was the popular choice during that period in the 60's. The BAE 111,Douglas DC9 ,Tupolev TU-134,Tupolev Tu-154 and the Boeing 727 all chose this system. Seems everyone must have been copying.

  • preffer ge

  • what are the tolerances @ 1:03 ? 2:52 shows the siplicity & elegance in modern design... how much of a design compromise is this?? where do cost & efficiency meet?

  • This is a crazy peace of technology. I have my A&P and can't wait until I start working. I noticed everybody is white in this video. Does Boeing or GE only hires white people? I am originally from Iran, now a U.S. citizen. Am I wasting my time to get hired in this field??

  • I can't believe how people say that RR is a piece of shit , that GE is better....wtf..do you own an airplane and fly it every single day, to go to the supermarket to get a gallon of milk ?? If both of those companies were crap, we still in mule transportation technology....oh , but you would be talking then , that GE mule ass smell better than RR mule... if that was true , I would take comments seriously..

  • FYI BMW just bought the car bit. Derby 4 ever

  • Rolls Royce can easily stand on their reputation for the quality of their jet engines.

  • @shocker147 RR Trent 1000 sucks pal..Boeing made great mistake..

  • Boeing is on record as saying that no delays in the 787 programme are attributable to Rolls Royce. Maybe you ought to look a little closer to home when you are looking for a reasons for Boeing's problems?

  • One of these already surged on a taxi testing

  • I think I need that lifting too that can lift the engine in front side down.

  • that's a shitload of routing and clamping.

  • RR sucks big time. IFSD is the only thing that comes to my mind when I see the RR logo!

  • bmw don't own rolls royce they have a 51% share in the BR engine development and assembly to rolls 49% these engines are made in dahlewitz germany at the former bmw factory, other than that rolls are a plc and as such are owned by the public, they sold the right to use the name to bmw who now make the cars for 50m i believe they can use the name for 100yrs.

  • I bet that chick is hard work!

  • rolls royce = budget engine choice, like buying french or russian engines

  • @mrjimbeam2009 rolls royce = better product, better price, crying american ;( XD

  • @tigerfedor1 Rolls Royce is owned by the Germans now so it more like crying British.

  • @TheIceman567 erm ....no, rolls royce MOTORS (car maker) is owned by the germans, Rolls Royce PLC (jet engines, defence, aerospace) is british. Rolls Royce motors was just a section of the origional company

  • @tigerfedor1 Your wrong germans own both.

  • @shellarrowz I love the UK mate! Great ally! From an American. Fuck the Reds and Fuck Russia and the EU!

  • @shellarrowz Oh and the Irish Republic!

  • @shellarrowz just google Rolls Royce plc, then google the definition of PLC. HOW CAN THEY OWN A PLC COMPANY!!!! :)

  • @shellarrowz no they nont, get the facts correct before posting comments. RR motors was sold off to BMW. the rest of the company is British. google RR and find out.

  • @tigerfedor1 Ermm No.. Germans own Both.

  • @TheIceman567 just google Rolls Royce plc, then google the definition of PLC. HOW CAN THEY OWN A PLC COMPANY!!!! :)

  • whats the fuel consumption?

everyone on hear is talking nonsense on what they preffer RR or GE no one cares about your small opinions, someone talk numbers with me.

  • When it says "successfully completed all bird ingestion tests" how do they determine if it is successful?

  • Who saw the programe on BBC2 about these engines on Sunday? Great programe

  • @cheesemaster1000

I did and Ii was really proud of RR

  • That is a work of art. It belongs in an art gallery.

I love rolls royce, they dont stick promotional crap all over the internet like GE do, they are the only remaining Great British company. Makes me proud.

  • @05u16hep hope the brits nail their engines together better than their cars. otherwise were swimming in the shit

  • Comment removed

  • @mrjimbeam2009 well we invented them so i think we are doing ok

  • Where's the fucking warp drive dylynthium crystal engine?! All we got is fossil fuel shit on this planet.

  • Boeing and RR, a match made in heaven... nothing beats it!

Like Gulfstream and RR-- there is no substitute.

  • Not really. With the exception of the 747-8, there are no exclusive engines on Boeing (or Airbus) planes.

  • @rb21122b incorrect--

The rb211 was EXCLUSIVE on the L1011.

The GE is EXCLUSIVE on the 777-300ER and 777-200LR.

the CFM is EXCLUSIVE on the 737s

the P&W is EXLUSIVE on the MD-80

the Allison is EXCLUSIVE on the EMB-145 series

the GE is EXCLUSIVE on the CRJ series

the RR Trent is EXCLUSIVE on the A340-500 and -600

    shall I keep going?

  • @0m1nous Well maybe there are exclusive engine on certain series, I meant Boeing and Airbus aircrafts in general. You were comparing to Gulfstream which only uses RR on all planes.

  • @rb21122b well... the REAL gulfstreams are all RR...

    but the G200 is pratt,

    G250 is honeywell,

g100 and g150 are honeywell as well...

  • @rb21122b

The 777-300ER and 200LR are GE exclusive

  • Is that specifically for the 787 or is it the same one they have on the A380?

  • @Struckgold the one on the A380 is a Rolls-Royce Trent 900

  • @sseaheroo Cheers!

  • The best western sounding engines...........

  • I know this may sound sad but I want to start a new religion called Rolls Royceism :P feel free to follow :P

  • @VooDooKid6661 I will join.

  • why did not PW designed an engined for the 787?

  • want to put in on my bike lol

  • Not all of them, but you are right they have an agreement with GE.

  • why did American Airlines not use these engines, they went with GE for the 787s they are getting?

  • @chillyal American Airlines are leasing their 787s through GECAS

  • @viceroytennis exactly its in the name GEcas General Electric! well said

  • The RR slogan is; Trusted to deliver excellence.

  • does Rolls-Royce have a slogan

    yes Quality & Excellence .....

  • Does Rolls Royce have a slogan?

For example; General Electric 'Imagination at work'.

  • Well, you know what they say:

"There are engineers, then there is a Rolls-Royce engineer"

  • God Rolls Royce has been around for ages. And Now they are still building for the future, Rolls Royce are simply the best engine company in the world no doubt about it :D

  • 2:41 "Action". Looks like a slight fail from the editor. Other than that, very nice video.

  • Having worked on fixed and rotaey aircraft engines for 16 years, must say this appears pretty sweet, but still have doubts about how efficient any major component can be accessed / serviced or replaced.

  • long live rolls royce

  • @TurboNooob Fuck RR and its crappy Trent1000.

  • @FORBAN2 Thank you for your moronic statement. Now go back to school.

  • Comment removed

  • Not cheap.

  • Incredible product of science and the human mind.

  • Lets get it clear this is a Trent 1000 engine, I know cos i make them, I work for Rolls-Royce, the best engine maker in the world
