My son got it at 8 months it's a very serious illness :( he is now 22 months. Almost lost him n that was the most scariest moment of mine n my husband life. He is healthy now and doing better but we always make sure everything is clean n if he gets sick we get him check right away

I had meningitis when I was a strapping young babe. I was in the hospital for over a week and had to be home-schooled for months.

Also, it's quite possible that this desease gave me Asberger-like brain qualities. I guess it made me smarter and socially awkward, thank you bacteria!

I had meningitis and had to spend 11 days in the hosptial, plus another day at a different hospital a couple weeks later. I got 2 lumbar puntures and had to carry around a backpack with antibiotics pumping into me for 3 weeks. Meningitis sucks.

i had meningitis it sucks i almost died i went to the er 3 days in a row they gave me fluids and sent me home the first 2 days the third day i went somewhere else and they figured it out but when i got the spinal tap it took the guy four tries

I had it twice when I was new born& when i was 2 but I didnt get effects from it, but do you think it effects the brain because my youth worker said I might have aspergers or something like that :S just wondering if there any headfuck effects lol :)

I had meningitis just a few weeks ago, and let me tell you; it's really scary. Luckily the type of bacterial meningitis that I had was caused by Streptococcal Pneamonai (sp?) I strongly suggest that you get a vaccination. It really is a horrible disease. :'(

how do you know if you have Meningitis ?

Well it starts out with basic flu symptoms like fever, headaches, nausea , vomiting, and sensitivity to light. Later on you develop a stiff neck, and if you're unlucky, even a purple rash that means you have blood poisoning. They confirm the diagnosis with a spinal tap. If your spinal fluid is clear, you don't have meningitis, but if it's murky, then you do. Does that answer your question? =3

Well my sister, my parents and I went to an amusement park early one morning then I started to feel sick, so we left. They didn't think it was serious, until the next morning they couldn't wake me up. That's when they took me to the ER. So I had it for about 26-28 hours.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just be careful when you're with a lot of people, and take good care of cuts. Meningitis bacteria could enter through a wound if it's not cleaned or gets infected. But, please don't worry. You'll be fine. =3
