  • 16 and loving it

  • here I go again, commenting on one Americans choice of a great song. John is no longer with us, but his memory go's on with his songs, I remember the 1st time i heard john denver, and where I was

  • I enjoyed this video so much that I posted it on my Facebook page - On Mullett Lake, Northern Michigan

  • I love this song. What a Great way to start off a Sunday Morning !

  • hey,

this is such a awesome song.

i dicovert it because my dad was listening it

    and i'm 17 :P great great song

  • omg this music video is awesome XD

  • Pure joy. Great interpretation...I believe I can fly...

  • Goodness, what a stunning song. Just breathtaking.

  • ZZZZzzzzooooooooommMMMMMM to a better world

  • Spent my summers as a kid in Aspen in the 70s. Great memories.

  • This is one of my favourite J.D. songs! - I love and admire the passion that has gone into making this video! You have managed to capture how I feel when I listen to this - bold and emotive!

    Guid wurk son. ;-)

  • Wow... someone who actually "gets" this song...... AWESOME job!

  • Mythic!!!! I have never found so fabolous musics and images!!!!!!!! Great song, great symbolic message of freedom!!! Great artist!!!! Greetings to all readers and listeners from Italy!!!!

  • When I saw this video for the first time, I thought the guy intruded, but the more I see it the more I like what the creator did. It really captures the spirit of the song and the joy of freedom that is present in all of us.

  • Amazing song!! Love it!! Remnds me of when I was a kid - dad loved this guy and so did I!!!

  • The video could have been better; for starters, why dress in a shirt and tie? Unless of course to emphasize, maybe, the freedom from human corporate confinement? If so, OK, but I still wish he would have dressed a bit different and made his final run in a wide open prairie instead of surrounded by trees. Overall, though, good job and great song, no doubt!

  • Great song, best fan made music video!! John Denver, we miss u,

  • the song is great. the video could be better. jacob.

  • Love the song, the guy in the video is a dork.

  • I have to admit, I laughed a bit at the video. But that's probably because this song is one of the few that can actually do something like that

  • I think this video is great. It captures what I feel when I listen to this song.

  • A Great Tribute to John!

Break Free from the evil corporate slave system and Soar like an Eagle (Angel) YAHWEH !!!

  • If you want to watch the full film in HiDef quality Go Here >> bit.ly\kAOwtS <<Hurry and Get it before the link expires

  • I was able to watch part 2 of the full length film in HiDef bluRay quality here >> bit.ly\iKyvgk << the ending is really amazing! :D

  • I love this song, but have to admit the guy was distracting. It would have been better if there were more closeups of real eagles and hawks instead. I did like the nature shots though.

  • @sunflowerbox5 I agree this is the first video I have seen that has moving film of the eagle to this song all the other videos of john singing this song is just still pictures ,,,there good,,,but I like this one the best with the moving films of the eagle and the nature shots,,The guy should have been taking out of the video,,they should have some film of john denver in there with his pet golden eagle that would have added to this video,,but this video is still good

  • @sunflowerbox5 Ah, but music and art are subjective. You get what you get with videos. The uploader saw fit to include himself lip synching to the music and so it is. It works fine. It's unique, and it might have been a wise choice instead of trying to sing it himself. He did justice to John's song with his production which was job #1. He's a young guy which shows that the youth continues to love JD. You can't ask for more than that.

  • @jrssjdca i agree completely. i'm only 20 and my entire family has loved john denver since i can remember. I only found it out a month ago when i was going through some old cassettes of my dad's and i found a tape of JD's Greatest hits. even though my car is kinda new, it still has a tape player. adding to the fact that the tape was bought back when it first came out, it sound's like heaven coming out of my speakers, especially with the window's down. i almost cried on one song.

  • @nairb516 John's music transcends age. I'm almost 52, and have been listening to his since I was a kid. I have the Greatest CD (had the album before that), and it's the kind of album that I can listen to over and over again. I remember when I first bought it in 1976, I kept turning the record over to the other side when the current side was over.

  • @jrssjdca Over and over and over....... :)

  • Soar with The Eagles.

    My Friends. ♥

Do not be afraid and do not panic before them.

For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you.

He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

  • Excellent work! You've captured the spirit of this song. John would applaud, too!

  • Fly Tustin girl, my lady of Topinao........

  • One more comment! i LOVED the shots where you are running through the field and forwards and your camera man is running by you... and the edit job!!!

Even though the camera and tech may be old...it is timeless. Love the lighting/pixel involvement at the end when you're running back to the woods... Very Impressionistic!...Thanks to you and yours for this little film. The camera man has talent and lots of it too!

  • I applaud you for putting yourself out there! You have captured in a most unique way, the Power of this ditty.

  • I love the movement. Your focus is Wise. WOW! You have a gift from God! Keep filming! Seriously! I thank you! I have always loved this song...Your film increases the Blessing! Peace!

  • Freedom!

  • so Beautiful :)

  • Wonderful lyrics. Not very familiar with this track, but am so thankful for you uploading it and adding the pics. Great job...and thanks !

  • I am the eagle, I live in high country

In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky

I am the hawk and there’s blood on my feathers

But time is still turning they soon will be dry

And all of those who see me, all who believe in me

Share in the freedom I feel when I fly

  • @Tahlz4life come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops

sail o're canyons and up to the stars

    reach for the heavans

    and hope for the future

and all that we can be not what we are

thats the other part of the song that you forgot

  • Must have pressed "replay" about a thousand times on this same video. Love it.

  • The album was "Aerie" from 1972, and the back cover has John sitting with an eagle on his arm. Not a bald eagle but does it really matter what eagle is in this particular video?

  • Someone said this was John Denver's last song. Untrue. This song was from 1972.

  • @LeslieSteeg This song was actually released as a single in 1971, but I don't know if I've ever heard anyone say it was his last song... Either way, beautiful song and truly emotionally metaphorical sequences from his heart to ours which will always draw people in, because after all, music like this is what new music is missing out on, instead we have some untalented kid named justin bieber who doesn't even write his own songs except for that baby baby one which is just repetitive nonsense

  • @JoshSigurdsonMusic ... I do know it was on his Aerie album and that was released in 1972 so you're probably right. Someone did make a comment that this was his last song. Either way, I've been a John Denver fan for many years, since 1971, and love his music. Just beautiful!

  • Besides loving John Denver and his music, I just love this video....made me laugh! The guy running around in a shirt and tie and singing; just great!

  • I loved this video. So what that the eagle is the "wrong" eagle. Ignore the negatives and relish the praises of a John Denver fan who gives this two thumbs up!

  • Not as bad a video as it might have been. Wrong eagle: the mountain one would be Golden Eagle, not Bald. Red-tail Hawk was okay for that. Inappropriate setting of flat pastureland is imo somewhat fitting for the spirit of the song: the jerk is flying as best he can, by running with his arms out. But John had wanted people to move to Colorado and live a non-material life, hiking and getting stoned together, not pretend in Indiana while wearing a white shirt and red tie.

  • @thumlyly So unless you're in Colorado you're only pretending to enjoy nature? That's silly. The guy in this video was clearly appreciating the outdoors and that was John's main message, wherever you are (and whatever you're wearing).

  • I Love John Denver,And I Like This Video.Keep running dear idiot,keep running.

  • con trails last just a few moments (ice melts fast)

normaly.... this looked more like a chem trail to my eyes

    what about your eyes?

  • Long time john FAN! Where,s john? Who is the guy in the video? It sucks, This is John denver music and he is not in it. I do know this was his last song. What you should have done was all about john denver! not an idiot running in the woods. Eagle, hawks, Dolphins or sharks, John loved wild life! Not people. People destroy. Not take care of life! In the name of John denver you should be ashamed! Where is the wild life he cared so much about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great job toots

  • 32 people dont know what real music is

  • MAKES THE HAIRS STAND UP ON THE BACK OF MY NECK EVERY TIME I HEAR IT

  • this is absolutely brilliant and so inspiring of freedom

  • I saw John sing many, many times...and I will always remember the last one in Baltimore six weeks before his tragic death. I remember sitting in my seat watching his voice travel all around the arena...his voice was so amazing and it really touched your heart and spirit. May all of us who were so blessed to see him sing carry on his love of the outdoors and love of the one who made it all. See you in Heaven John.

  • I love how this filming superimposes the eagle onto the young man. It is a great visual of the blending of the two spirits. A good spirit and energy comes thru. Nicely done.

  • There is nbo other way to put this, JD was pretty amazing.

  • lots of memories here my friend....no country roads...laugh....thank you for obscure Denver...

  • I love this song! My sister and I used to blast this song in the car. I love you Auna.

  • I would love to see a competition throughout the US to see who can sing this song the best.

    What say you?

  • @54nomore There's two for sure that I personally know. One (a male) has a YouTube account and does tribute performances for John Denver alongside his wife and member of John's band. The other one (a female) doesn't have a YouTube account, but her voice soars when she sings this. Her voice is kind of in the Mary Travers range, but with greater projection. I played this with the two of them at a folk festival in 2004, and both were locked in. It was heavenly. Chilling even.

  • This has been my favorite song since 1972. Great job on the video.

  • No BS.If This Came Up on a Show about a John Denver I Would Think This was a John Denver Video. It Is Clever.

  • I feel Sorry for the 29 mother rapers who Did not Like It.:( Poor Perverts :(

  • You Would Almost think This was an Official Video......I Like it!

  • NO ONE WILL EVER TOP JOHN DENVER. I KNOW WE ALL MISS HIM. I just wish someone out there would find a voice somewhat like his, and help the rest of us defend our world. There is not much time left.

  • @eddiequest4 Have you checked out Ted Vigil from Washington State I am sure you will like him Not only does he sing like John he also looks like him I hope you will enjoy this site on Utube Type in Ted Vigil

  • I get goose bumps every time I hear this song, it is my favorite of John's songs, I miss him so much.

  • Of all the many John Denver songs that I love, this is still my favorite! Truly inspirational!!!

  • To lift you up and inspire your soul, may you touch 1000000+ lives about you in a positive way

  • This video is hilarious!

Looks like it's about a yuppie who went to the mountains on his lunch break and had a 70s experience...1:52 of this gets me laughing so hard I nearly fall on the floor.

  • "... and hope for the future, in all that we can be, not what we are."

That line has always touched me.

  • Jubilant joyful wonderful. May we all feel such freedom to run and dream of flying and hope for the future and all that we can be . . .

  • Excellent song I was a distance runner in the late 70's I would listen to this before I went out running. And this video is excellent in itself. The young guy captures it perfect.

  • what a grand song! Long live the king of country-music :) the king of all music! John Denver did the best music of all time, the melodies, the lyrics and the harmonies in his songs a so powerful and amazing :) AWESOME

  • i am the eagle

  • The eagle is my spirit animal and this is my mantra.... Always loved this song and took it under my wing when I was a freshman in college when I used to go tracking and worked at a raptor rehab in Pennslyania. Fantastic song!

  • Such a shame that boy is gone. Was my first favorite singer-songwriter as a kid in the 1970's.

  • I bet Icarus was listening to this song as he crafted his wax wings. It makes me want to attempt flight.

  • @DEEMUSICBUG sorry im responding to an old comment but icarus was the son of daedalus, daedalus crafted the wings, icarus flew too close to the sun.

  • i dont like REP. john was a doer and in the sprit of jeac cousto and my severe aversion to sea food LOL in another life i WAS a cabin boy lost at sea. i somehow ended up in texas. dante didnt see this level of hell

  • This song is one of the very, very few things in my life that have the power to make me happy no matter what the circumstances.

  • I watch this frequently and am always reminded of a young St. Francis of Assisi....

  • @gazaguy I can see that to.

  • MOST EXCELLENT

  • I have all ways been the Hawk

  • screwww you pal!!!! i'm the hawk!

  • Still the lump in my throat, still the eyes fill; still...

  • 6/11/06: We are still commenting on it...wow. Like it or not (I do), that really says something.

  • Well done. You have served John Denver well (-:

  • Well done. You have served John Denver well (-:

  • the imagery in this best.starting off w/just nature scenes and then adding the guy in.i see a business man, forced in a 5-day 9-5 job, same thing every day, boring, monotonous, mediocre existing. and then he opens his arms up, and suddenly hes transformed into some more free; his spirit "soars" like an eagle and hes wild as the hawk. and then he asks us to join him, to try and "be more than we can be,and not what we are" this is the pure genius that JD brings;beautiful music, meaningful lyrics

  • Love this song but I'm sorry to say, the dude skipping through the tall grass looks a bit of a Womble!

  • My goodness this song just soars. One has to have some pretty good pipes to sing this. And the late great John Denver sure did.

  • I really love this video - one of my favorites on YouTube! Far Out!

  • God shuda given us wings, so that John wudnt have to go make himself a fatal accident........

  • nice job with the video

  • I am playing this song for my little brother who passed away a week ago. We are going to spreak his ashes in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Bless you and this song.

  • Thanks soo much for posting this beautiful tribute to the human spirit!!!

  • The tie for that ???

  • @Neroscot LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What an epic tune. Right off the bat JD comes out swinging with such a range that can only be described as otherworldly. Thanks for the memories, John.

  • great video man, I got goosebumps....I did !

  • i love this song i would play it when things where bad when people where dieing when the troubles where here in belfast and every day someone died this song set me free like the eagle and the hawk i would fly

  • wow thats really stirring stuff, brilliantly done!

  • I saw him live in Sydney years ago. Wonderful memories, John, you are truly missed, but never forgotten, when we have such beautiful music to remember you by.

  • this was extrodinary.. such a beautiful sentiment

  • i have no idea if anyone here is an Iron Maiden fan but doesn't this song sound really similar to Prodigal Son? haha i dunno take a listen people, it sounds just like it: ) who knows who made the riff first haha DUH DUH DUH:p

  • This is what you don't find much of anymore...JD hit so many good vibes with me and these videos do them justice...Love it...God bless you, John, whatever beautiful sky you're now flying through....

  • I agree with Lindeyluvbug. This IS the best song ever! I saw him in Antwerp (Belgium), the year before he died, and still thank God every day for that beautiful night.

  • I'm surprised this song is 2:24 long. It always felt a lot shorter than that. It's an amazing song though, so I'm not complaining :)

  • I loved this song when I first heard it as a kid and still love it just as much now.

  • Take a trip out to the open country of the West... Colorado... Utah... Arizona.... the dakotas...Montana.... you will feel the spirit of John Denver there, in the wind...still wild and free!

  • Really cool premise behind this video...well done! The music... the open fields... the soaring eagle... the warm winds blowing...and a strong yearning for what we all seek so desperately... true freedom! A beautiful compliment to bring peace to the soul and music to the heart! Thanks for a great video!!!

  • i looooove this song

  • John's songs had a way of reminding us of our surroundings and Nature's gifts and kissed them with his song.

  • Joyous!

  • I'm only 11 and I think this is the most wonderful song ever. He sings this song with so much passion and expression! The song is amazing, but very short!! Still I think it is a wonderful song, and isn't this like the yongest he's ever been to sing in a music video like that? I sang Leaving on a Jetplane for my 2ed grade talent show in front of 800 people! I LOVE John Denver! My dad's name is john and he went to an REAL concert of his. I wish I was there!!

  • 11 years old. You understand the joy of music and the joy that it gives to us all.

Thank you for your comment .

The best to you from Earl

  • @Lindeyluvbug That is my only complaint about this song is that it is too short. It is so beautiful. You are 11 and I am 51 but I don't think I can express myself any better than what you did so I will just say AMEN!

  • @Lindeyluvbug

Wow, I could not agree more. I am now 43 and when I was just 4 years old this song spoke to me so loudly! I know I was young but I could totally relate to the words and the meaning, I felt greatness within my young soul. He sais to be all that we can not just who we are, I ask myself why did such a young child relate to such deep meaningful words. Any how you must also be very special to relate to such a passionate song at such a young age. Go for it Lindey. Love Mish xox

  • @Lindeyluvbug Some of the most beautiful things in life are only here for a brief second.

  • @Lindeyluvbug I love this song too Lindeyluvbug. I don't know how old he was when he sang this song but that isn't him in the video, just another person who loves his music. I wish I'd seen him play but I also never got the chance.

  • Comment removed

  • I've seen this song done in a skydiving montage. Believe me if you want to dance with the west wind. Try skydiving.

  • Is it on YouTube? Which one? Thanks!

  • When I first heard this song back in 72, this is what I saw in my head. Like everyone's already said, you've captured it!

  • Beautiful song.

  • Dude.. You captured the feel of the song perfectly. Awesome Job!!!

  • My favorite John Denver song.

  • Good job, friend. John would be proud.

  • Great writing

  • Wonderful! I love it!!

  • Really love that post, great sound and lovely scenery, what more do you want?

  • And then the eagle swoops down, grabs the kid by the head, and flies away with him. Off to its nest. To feed him to the baby eagles. Alive.

    ;-)

  • Woohoo! Excellent video. You got it. You captured what we all feel when hearing this great song. Good job, Saxton bros.

  • forget the video...listen to the voice....john denver is one of the greatest voices ever

  • God please change this video . The worst ever on youtube, the worst !!

  • music is great video is dorky though

  • @SilverBullet741

listen to America.....Stephen Stills plagiarised.....lol....or go listen to Mike Nesmith of The Monkees.....echo echo?

  • Eh, there's a flavor of that song on the verse. But this is clearly different. The strumming on Denver's song is definitively different.

  • I still get a rush hearing this!!!!!!!

  • @warlordky

I'm with you!!! It still gives me chills!

  • Great video. That's how I feel when I hear this song as well.

  • beautiful 5/5!

  • The version from "An Evening with John Denver" (recorded in 1976? at the Universal Ampitheatre) is so cool because it starts before the applause has ended from the song before. I love how it starts and you really can't tell where it started.

  • U did a great job with this song and video, definetly captured the spirit

  • So great.

  • JOHN. DENVER.

  • Brilliant

  • In times of adversity I come home disgruntled and hopeless, but then Ill listen to this song, and I feel like I'm soaring and I get through it all

  • like that, thanks!

  • Tom...I'm thinking John Denver would be real pleased with your video intrepretation. Fly eagles...fly! Even in a tie. :o)

  • Oh that we all should aspire to be eagles, John. Like you my friend...soar high never touching the ground. Thanks for the music.

  • Such a powerful song, I love it so much.

1:17 takes the cake. If you run for president, I will vote for you.

  • This song has always stirred my soul since I was a child. Makes me fjeel like I can do anything. Thanks so much for posting it :) John Denver will always live on through the spirit of his music...

  • i am playing this song for my best friend who passed away today....8/29/09.......may you feel the peace now and the feeling from 'touching all the mountaintops'.......on your way to Heaven.....i love you and will miss you immensely.......your BFF Phyllis

  • I am sorry for your loss! I lost my parents a time ago but the loss is still real and my Aunts too! it is hard! He wil touch the mnt tops before he goes to heaven! God Bless
