Do you understand why Zeppelin was a Supergroup now? Do you? Bonham was a beast of a drummer, Plant was the most unique vocalist, and Page was the greatest guitar song writer-sound wizard studio engineer ever. Everyone always talks about Jones simply as being under the radar holding everything together, but if you listen to this piano solo you hear why he was ultra talented. ZEPPELIN CAN'T EXIST WITHOUT JOHN PAUL JONES' MASTERY.
this song shows perfectly how good page, jones and bonham were together. It's not only technical it's like drama, very inspiring and always improvised.
Am I glad I got to see these guys,THE BEST!!! EVER,NO DOUBT.
No one else even came close to these guys, not even close.Sabbath,Motorhead,The Who,AC/DC no one even came close...Not Gilmour,The Stones...no one,and I saw them all except Moon and JIMI,so not much else to say,ENJOY!!! 2 bad they are gone. Plant cant sing anymore,Jason isnt his DAD,but at least they got the kid to fill his Dad's shoes, who else they gonna get?
NO QUARTER from about 75 to 77 was all about pushing further and further, trying to make it better every night.....this is one of the best versions i have heard.....
JPJ...should be more appreciated. One of the best keyboadists, bassist, and writers in rock....come on, When has there ever been four perfectly talented musicians such as this? The beatles had Ringo Starr...who average (I love the beatless too). Led Zep is one of a kind.
wneww. this particular take, this particular place and gig, everything must've added like a math equation. If anyone has more than a passing interest in Zep they should start finding unauthorized recordings....Truly gives a much deeper insight to the band, and by this point in time no one is trying to steal you being original, like the whole jeff beck you shook me deal. hah
i lived in dallas in 75, was just a kid then but was a fan . i remember the news talking about what a mad house it was at the place where they were selling tickets!
no quarter is such a jazzy tune live when jpj picks up the piano part.
this version is great. once the song picks up again after jpj's solo its a bizarre and fantastic trio of page rippin around while john and john (that is funny to say sometimes) are moving steadily. jpj is definitely my favorite out of the four.
my favorite is at earls court in '75. jpj plays solo for like 14 minutes i sometimes forget that he is playing no quarter in the middle of it he transitions through so many tones
yeah john was a pianist/keyboardist first before any instrument. i believe he played for a church on organ at the age of 14 or somethin. hes a keys man through and through, but damn can he play bass and mandy! and probably about 20 other instruments
Yes this is the elite version of NO QUARTER amazing improvisation, another example of ZEPPELIN not limiting themselves to borders, always crossing the line into Zepland!!
this was the first Zeppelin boot I ever owned.I wore my copy out in about 5 yrs and never have heard it since. This song is what I remember most.Jones is a gifted person.

This one is good, but the '75 St. Louis No Quarter is just about the apex of arena rock. If you can find it, download it and cry

@kingcrimson1972 You Shook Me was originally recorded by Muddy Waters. Jeff Beck covered it a year before Led Zeppelin.

@SnrFloyd yeah but he accosted Jimmy of stealing his interpretation. that's what I meant. you are right though.
