Great song and great movie. Every time I watch this I appreciate my b/f even more. All the silly arguments Joel & Clem have I can relate to and it makes me want to be a better g/f. I feel like I wish I had past relationships erased, but you know what? We all learn from past relationships. That's how we grow as a person. Plus you can't always focus on the painful memories.

Instead they give the nominations to dramatic actors in the same movies. Of course most times people who deserve to be nominated are, but if a comedian can be passed over, no problem. Good example: Bill Murray not getting an Oscar. Yet Downey Jr. gets nominated for Tropic Thunder...ridiculous.

Great video, well made. This has to be the most underrated movie ever. No academy awards in the bigger categories, no nomination (again) for Carrey which is a disgrace. I must have seen more than 5000 movies, easy, this is right up there for me. Wonderful script and ridiculous acting by the whole cast. A movie that just gets better the more you see it, a rarity indeed. Underrated movie with an underrated actor.

Perfect score for a perfect movie. I feel everything that he feels through the video. Its so hard sometimes to let someone go but its like they don't leave they are still standing right in front of you and laying right next to you laughing, smiling, feeling sad and then slowly vanish from the mind. WE have all felt this at least once in our lives.

ESOTSM was always very depressing to me. Anyone who has ever been in love can agree. Sometimes I wish that there was a service to erase memories. To be overly personal, I have to wake up every day and realize that I drove away the love of my life and that I have no chance to get her back and every time I watch this film it makes me more and more aware of this. I can honestly say that Joel is a character I identify with. A beautiful, yet painful movie.  One of my favorites.

The scene that always gets me and rips my heart out is when he's in bed undergoing the procedure and then he open his eyes. Then you see that one solitary tear flow out and he screams out, "I don't want this anymore. I want to call it off."

Or when he's on the Charles and he says, "I could die right now, Clem. I'm just... happy. I've never felt that before. I'm just exactly where I want to be."

I can remember having those same feelings. Man, I am emo today.

The one that gets me is when he and Clem are under the covers together, and he tries to comfort her; it's a very emotional and sweet part of the movie. And then he loses it... yet he doesn't want to. That's when he realises that what he did was a mistake. It's so painfully emotional. :[

Some friends of mine think that ESOTSM is an optimistic movie, but I disagree completely. One thing I always think about is whether or not Joel and Clementine became like Howard and Mary. You know, she erased their relationship, but wound up drawn to him again. At the end of the movie, they decide to try again, but I always felt that maybe they would end up in this cycle of constantly erasing each other after their flawed relationship fails again. It ends on a major downer to me.
