@david1587 I used a heat gun, you could get one at pretty much any hardware store. I wouldn't try it any other way to be honest. The heat gun made it so easy! Best of luck to you! You will love the r1 it is an amazing bike!

@iPissRedBuLLL — what made you change the shorty pipe back to the y pipe w/the slip on? That was an awesome look.....w/the under tail clean finnish. Also — I never thought about removing the chain guard?? I must say; your bike is wicked sexy!
@blackman1061 Well the low mount exhaust was kinda cheap :/, It was also just to loud. Sounded like I was driving a helicopter. I went with the Y-Pipe and Akra Slip-ons because not only are they probably the best system, it sounds just amazing.The headers stock on the 2010 R1 are already Titanium so by adding just the Y-pipe and the Slip ons it turns into a All Titanium System. I also always take the chain guards off all my bike because I usually wear boots. If you wear shoes, I don't advise it.

When you install the shorty pipe and the y-pipe they both are attached by sliding over the headers like 2 inches then clamped down with a pipe clamp so there are no leaks. I think I understood you question but if this doesn't answer please ask me again in a different way. Also when you have just that shorty exhaust it doesn't even use a Y-Pipe, it simply slides onto the headers. Lmk if this helps!

I have a question though, was your performance better hp/tq wise before the akrpovic? what is the weight difference before and after #2 and #3? or beginning to end. And have you considered putting more work into performance power after the aesthetics?
@Darkgotrunks Thanks for the comment! To answer some of your questions..The bike is ridiculously faster and more responsive after the install of the Bazzaz ZFi, BMC Air Filter, and Akrapovic. It is so much more fun to ride with the custom tune. As for the weight difference it isn't as much as you think because the pipes on the Akrapovic are 90% Titanium which is so LIGHT! The difference in weight versus stock is HUGE! The longer the Pipes = More Tq you will get!
i think you should put the carbon fiber front fender and airbox cover, it should look great!
