  • Fantastic commentary .. especially identification of weakened squares.

  • kOSTINIUK has really lost ratings 2448 is her ratng now only 3 women could compete with the men.

  • Thank you for the great commentary.

  • TQ. This is a beautiful work of art! Great comments, excellent animation. I'm going to recommend my students watch thru' the coverage.

Looking forward to your coming LCC coverage. I learn so much that I felt blessed.

  • @wilsonwangvuisoon Thank you very much. It's appreciated. :)

  • December and January is a new months Hou could get on a roll! How many games has Hou lost since she has been champion? Anand lost to Kosteniuk and Hou Yifan beat her bad in 2010.

  • @lexus400 Thanks

  • Hou Yifan is in the Lead 2.5 to 1.5. She won game 3 She is the Kasparov of the Women's players.

  • Hou Yifan Vs Anand I want to see that!

  • humpy lol

  • I have always thought it curious how there are special women's tournaments, etc. I think the argument that fewer women chess players to begin with=not as many females at the top of the game is a good one. Maybe in time we'll see more women interested in chess, and then these women only events will have been a good idea. On the other hand, maybe chess is just something that is interesting to more men than women.

  • Thank you Jerry for commenting these games. This has introduced me to some new chess players which I may not have learned about if you didn't do these.

  • tirana albania :)

  • This kitchen looks very weird

  • I hope Hou wins. Great player.

  • Nice analysis but fan in hou yifan is pronounced something like a 'fun'

  • @btkw Actually Wikipedia agrees with Jerry, "Ho Yee-fan", search it as I don't think I'm able to link it.

  • @VeritasOmnias Chinese romanization works a little differently from english, i speak mandarin myself so i'm pretty sure it's not pronounced like that.

  • Tirana Albania..:)

  • 12:39 what if the black bishop moved to a6 instead of g4 in order to defend the c5 pawn advancement! wouldn't that be better ?

  • At 17:14, wouldn´t have it helped to capture with fxg4 to connect those pawns or is it a matter that the pawn then after a potential exchange is a rook pawn,so it is even more drawing, isn´t it?

  • i love your analysis buddy i learn a lot!!

  • i really enjoyed watching this, not your every day chess tournament match thank you jerry :)

  • @DynamicDeclan Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video. Was an enjoyable game. Will you be doing a video for all the games in this match??

  • classical Philidor position at the end

  • I am a better player for watching this.

  • @Taggerung89 :)

  • @Nimzowitz , all pawns are healthy

  • The analysis was VERY helpful and informative. Thank you! Subscribed.

  • Excellent analysis as usual Jerry. looking forward to more videos between Humpy and Yifan. People really learn a lot from your vid's .....Good work.

  • Very good commentary. I saved this video for learning more about it. THANK YOU very much!

  • @ChessPlayerBH WELCOME :)

  • I know it would be a lot of work, but could you post and comment on the other 9 games? Very informative, Ty.

  • Some people say women can't play chess - those people are wrong. Great video Jerry!

  • I would hate to be dating a woman chess master making me feel mentally inferior , who the hell wants that ?

  • @MrIran69 I've often thought that.

  • @MrIran69 This statement makes you intellectually inferior to 99% of world population anyway. And not for the reasons you suspect.

  • wow they sure did have a lotta time on the clock..it should be enough time for them to go to the kitchen and make me a sandwhich

  • thank you for posting, very informative

  • 40 moves after 16:22? At that level a draw is obvious.

  • They're both pretenders... We all know who the real woman chess champion of the world really is....

  • @renumeratedfrog Garry Kasparov, of course.

  • @NumbFlynn Gary Kasparov is a woman now? :-O When did that happen? I thought he was referring to Judit Polgar.

  • @YtubeUserr It happened yesterday.

  • great commentary! learned alot

  • @Sam712630

    Thanks dude, great help.

  • Go China!

  • @ChessNetwork

Hey dude, I had an endgame with King, Queen, Knight vs King, I was a little bit frustrated because he was runnning away, can you do a video of that? :)

  • after 973 moves we see a draw and a rematch lasting 1035 moves XD that was a long ass game XD

  • Jerry! Great video as always, I was wondering if you could make a note if one move took a much longer time than expect, not sure if you can get that information though, just a thought, Thumbs up! Keep at it!

  • Thanks a lot Jerry! Incredible to view a commented world championship match! Hope you continue this all the games and later in the men's championship!

  • @BenMarru Thanks Ben. :)

  • you are lacking in live streams Jerry

  • Why are Women's, and Men Chess separate?

  • @irishmonkey640 Because it has been shown, time and time again, that men are better and it just would not be fair, check our the top ratings for men and women and see the difference, and those people are the very best, top the class. Imagine us regular folk? Heck I can count single handedly how many female chess players there are at my league. Just my thought though.

  • @Sheendude Valid point, however I would like to bring your attention to the distribution of IQ scores for analogy. The more people you test, the higher variance your score will be; if you have 20 people in your sample, you may vary between 70-130, if you have 100 in your sample you will likely see more varying scores, such as 55-145 due of the probability of finding a higher variance with a larger sample size. If we turn our attention to women, it's the same thing, less women = less variance.

  • @Anichels In essence, I think if there were a larger interest in chess for women, I think we would see much higher scores in the top female players.

  • @irishmonkey640 women have brain of squirrel.

  • @tactikus

... this comment is supposed to be ironic and funny, right?

  • @irishmonkey640 Seems that the chess community thinks that women are inferior, hence the need of a separate community and scene.

It makes no sense at all.

  • @irishmonkey640 Are you refering to the world championship or womens and mens chess in general?

  • @irishmonkey640

I'm just going to guess that men have been playing chess a lot longer than women have, so there are a lot more skilled male chess players compared to female. However, as more women get into competitive chess, maybe they will combine.

  • @irishmonkey640 It's just the women's chess that is separate. Most tournaments are for everyone, but there are very very few women that can actually compete on that level. One factor is that men's intelligence scores are more extreme. This means that the most brilliant men are often smarter than the smartest women (and the other way around too of course). This is just statistics though and there are plenty of brilliant women near the top of the chess world, just waiting for a chance.

  • @irishmonkey640 because male GM beat the girls easily they are too much strong for the ladies

  • @irishmonkey640 Who should they not?

  • @irishmonkey640 I am not going to say because women suck at chess like a lot are saying, because there are a lot of strong women players... The problem is that in the top 100 chess players, there is currently and only has been one woman; who is Judit Polgar. Judit competes with the men a lot but for the most part, it is a male dominated game.

  • @irishmonkey640 Because women have lower ELO score compared to men

  • @irishmonkey640 maybe because men take up challenges more easily

  • @irishmonkey640 there is no such thing as Men's World Chess Championship, the World Championship is open to both men and women, but unfortunately there isn't women strong enough to compete in those, (except for maybe Judit Polgar) so a Woman's World Championship was created for them to have a chance to compete.

  • @classicmusic05 Judit Polgar is not the women's champion she has no justification to0 insist on challenging Anand!

  • @babykevinxoxo I never said that Judit Pulgar is the women's world champion, she is by far the strongest female chess player though. Her FIDE rating is 2710, more than 100 points ahead of the next woman!

  • @classicmusic05 If Judit is so great why she not become Women's World Champion again. She sucks!

  • @babykevinxoxo you have no reason to say that she sucks. She is the only woman that has ever been in the top 10 of the world, so if you say she sucks you're pretty much saying that everyone ranked below her sucks.

And as to why she doesn't play for the women's world champion, that's too long of an answer to write here, but she has her reasons. You should google that, as there is plenty of articles about it.

  • @classicmusic05 so what hells bells. Hou Yifan is the Woman World Champion now No man in top 10 has ever challenged Hou Yifan because of the fear of losing to a woman! Judit Polgar would lose to Hou Yifan in a 10 game match.

  • @babykevinxoxo you're being unrealistic now. There is no reason or need for the top 10 players to challenge her, it would be too easy for them. If anything she is the one who needs to challenge them. Either you're just being a troll or you don't know much about chess. There is no reason to believe the woman's world champion could beat anyone in the top 10 and your argument has no basis.

  • @classicmusic05 um she will be the second woman to reach 2700. She is only 17. What the heck are you talking about of coarse I know a lot about Chess. If you want Sir you can ask Judit to play me a 2 game match. I just ask Judit to give me 30 days to prepare for the match. I will make her Work for the win! It would be to easy for the men you say? There is no proof of your theory. The only way to proof is to PLAY!

  • Comment removed

  • @babykevinxoxo I never said it would be too easy for man... this isn't about that, male chess players don't have some sort of ability that females don't; I said it would be too easy for the players in the top 10. Also I don't see why you playing Judit Polgar is relevant to this argument.

Go look at chessgames . com and look at Hou Yifan's games, she's good but she looses too often to players that are not even in the top 10. In the other hand, you have no reason to believe Judit Polgar sucks.

  • @classicmusic05 write Judit a fan letter and ask her to play me. If I dont last at least 30 moves I will bow at Judits feet.

  • Isn't 7.Ne5 just better than Qc2? I'm not super familiar with Catalan theory but it seems to prevent the a6-b5 break and really restrict the development of black's queenside.
