Storch and Timbaland are both hit makers. They are both multi-million dollar producers. Only Timbaland got caught jacking his beats and since has been losing credibility as a producer. I don't know what you're trying to say but those are the facts.
9th Wonder SHOULD be in that list!! He's been around just as long as Kanye! His work on Jean Grae's "Supa Luv" should be recognized as classic stuff! Long live 9th
I was asking a friend the other day about going to buy some albums in chi-town. He said why the hell would i want some old ass albums....he said download limewire. Then I talked to another cat who got a home studio....and everytime we talk he always reminds me that the mpc is out of style....I say FUCK THAT SHIT! Long live BOOM BAP!
Sampling is dying. Real Beats are dying. All these new producers buy a Triton, Fantom or Motif and use software to get that popular today sound and they think they real Hiphop producers. I don't like that cause its killing the sample based producers. It's takin the fun out of beat making. I still love to search for breaks in old record stores. Records bring back memories it's like a souvenir from places you've been.
I don't think it's bad, people only gettin' more creative cuz they makin there own melodies. I'm not talking about those simple ass crunk beats, but real music being composed.
I think both sampling and playing it yourself is cool. Sampling for that old scool vibe, playing for creativity.
You can be very creative with samples. If you chop up a melody and make something totally different out of it is a harder job than coming with melodies from your own mind.
I disagree. You are limited in your creativity by what notes or bits are provided by the sample. I find sampling easier to do. Don't get me wrong, I love sampling and sampled beats. But when I get a beat in my head, I compose my own beat. I can't recreate a melody that's in my mind with samples.
Yeah its thru you are very limited in your creation when you use samples but i find it harder to make a beat with chops than sequencing my own melody with keyboard from the head. Using chops is really trying out and being patient to get a good melody. So this does take alot of skills.
With a modern sequencer you dont really need to play keys cause you can use things like piano rolls to place notes.
Ture, but using piano rolls I don't consider an art. Playing music with your Midi-keyboard or Workstation, now that's more than making beats. That's composing music.
I do both. Sampling and Playing, depends on what I feel like doing.
I'm iffy about Timbaland nowaday's now that he's been exposed for jacking someone's beat in Switzerland, which makes you wonder how many of "his" other beats are really his?
all 9th ans kayne do is sample anyone can sample yea but they flip the sample!!! its some great sample base producer and some bad ones!! but I dont want people saying kanye is the best note}his ego tells him he is but hes not you can pickup a bum on the street show him how to sample and theres a beat wow not hard at all!!
