  • I remember this commercial well. I lived in Brooklyn at the time (I was 11 years old in 1980). Unfortunately we were dirt poor, so who had money for carpeting? Our apartment had bare wooden floors or linoleum that was old, frazzled, and in dire need of replacing which we couldnt afford to do, much less carpet the place. To my family back then, to many families, Carpet was a luxury. Even with the price at half off, we still couldnt afford a single square foot of it, much less a whole rooms worth.

  • Lets run the numbers here: Their cheapest price, 3.99 for a square foot of carpet. So if you had a small room that was 10x10, thats 100 square feet. So, it would cost you 399 bucks for carpeting that one room alone and that doesnt even include labor ("additional charges for padding and installation" says the small print at the end of the commercial). 399 in 1980 is like 1000 in todays money.

  • I was hoping for the "Kaufman the carpet experts, we've got it all!" jingle.

  • @dervish108 I have that commercial, the one with Bryan Cranston as the sellsman!

  • Get outta here! There was one in Port chester where lived too, lol.! Now am I nuts or does no one but me have "Space farms, suxxex NJ: stuck in their head??
