This bill will not socialize the system entirely, but it will socialize it EVEN more. Mark my words! It'll have the gov't paying EVEN MORE on healthcare than it already does! We simply can't afford it! $100 Billion a year added to the deficit for the next 10 years, at least. Look at the summary of the bill on govtrack, and you'll see how stupid it is. It adds all these silly extra bureaucratic agencies and bs restrictions. You'll even be taxed if you don't have health insurance!

But for the top income earners it's a great question, since paying for HC through premiums acts like a flat surcharge (not even a flat tax), which is hard on low income families and easier on high income ones, while income and capital gains taxes are charged as a percentage.
If that's your concern, a legitimate concern, one of my concerns as well, then why not t try to find a way to do it instead of trying to block reform? Without reform the problem will just keep growing, the only ones who'll make a profit will be insurance comps, and if you believe that GOPers really are interested in reform, just ask yourself what did they do for healthcare reform during the last 8 years?

The current health care mess is a big big part of the problem. We are now paying more for health care, and receiving less for it, than the rest of the developed world. Health care reform must contain costs. It's likely to shift some of the burden from employers to the government, but the net result to the US economy is savings, rather than added cost.

This bill will not socialize the system entirely, but it will socialize it EVEN more. Mark my words! It'll have the gov't paying EVEN MORE on healthcare than it already does! We simply can't afford it! $100 Billion a year added to the deficit for the next 10 years, at least. Look at the summary of the bill on govtrack, and you'll see how stupid it is. It adds all these silly extra bureaucratic agencies and bs restrictions. You'll even be taxed if you don't have health insurance!

For most of the stooges out there protesting healthcare reform, that's a question you'll rarely get an honest answer to.
But for the top income earners it's a great question, since paying for HC through premiums acts like a flat surcharge (not even a flat tax), which is hard on low income families and easier on high income ones, while income and capital gains taxes are charged as a percentage.

Without reform the problem will just keep growing, the only ones who'll make a profit will be insurance comps, and if you believe that GOPers really are interested in reform, just ask yourself what did they do for healthcare reform during the last 8 years?

mistergarth...I think you missed my point...In 2000 we had a surplus and we could gamble on a program like health care, but as you know 2 wars and Bush and his agenda, which is much like the current ( collective rights enforced for the common good ) Have put us very close to the dollar failing, this is our 1st and MAIN problem, not health care or cap and trade or retarded stimulus programs that just cause inflation, we need change, not the same 8 years of waste..time to lead not campaign !

The current health care mess is a big big part of the problem. We are now paying more for health care, and receiving less for it, than the rest of the developed world. Health care reform must contain costs. It's likely to shift some of the burden from employers to the government, but the net result to the US economy is savings, rather than added cost.
