I've heard this album on and on since I was a child. Everytime I can find something new on it, really incredible!! But overall, this Rainbow Demon is so doomy and gloomy that it's probably the heaviest song on this LP.
The first time I heard this song it was a metal cover and it sounded so strange and out of place I knew it couldn`t be the original. So glad I heard this version...this one sounds like it was meant to be
This was one of the first albums I was turned on to when it came out.I was 15.Uriah Heep to this day is still one of my favorite bands.Too bad you can't hear music like this on the radio anymore.
You can. You just have to live near the right station, or try Sirius. Yep they are just sooooo good. I think I wore this cd out... Yep, they don't make 'em like this anymore.....
@Deathsiren And just how old are you? None of the newer so-called "metal" bands could come up with something like this on their own. Ask them who their influences are and don't be shocked if they mention this band.
@ologhai2 What the hell are you talking about? I'm 25, nevertheless I'm very, VERY familiar with most early bands. Especially 70's bands are my passion and so is Uriah Heep, but I wouldn't particularly call this heavy. Amazing, epic, great, yes. But heavy? That one goes to Pentagram for me. Of course I don't compare Uriah Heep to newer bands. They rise above newer bands. Age doesn't matter.
@Deathsiren Pentagram's sound is still derivative (you picked one of the better ones); they even cite Heep as an influence. This tune of theirs out-dooms any band that sticks the "doom" moniker on themselves to sound cool. Your initial reaction was derisive, so that made me misunderstand you.
@ologhai2 - for sure, this is an absolute CLASSIC. There are a few bands nowadays that have been influenced by Uriah Heep and other bands that are actually putting out stuff that may be considered 'classics' at some time in the future... you should check out The Devils Blood, Blood Ceremony, and Jex Thoth. All are female-fronted bands that are firmly rooted in 1970s classic rock. Seriously, check em out. *thumbs up*

I'd rather listen to this than any Metallicca, it's better and heavier in every way and a lot more melodic and harmonic.
