actually .. i joined "louie " in the "solo section ..we played together on "i wanna be free"..i played the "opening lick "in "monkees theme"..;louie played 1st solo..i played 2nd.also..to my recollection .i came up with the "openinglick on "last train to "clarksville"..thank you . gerry mcgee/aka jerry
It's great to finally see the solo played by the guy who created it.I've been wantin' to learn that break for a long time. Now if only the gentleman singin' would learn the words...........
@petahbuilt1 Yea he does the flamenco parts on Valeri. The way I understand it (and I could be wrong) is that every musician in the building tried to record that part and none could quite get it right until Shelton took a crack at it. I've always been amazed by that particular piece and I've heard others play it but the guys in the studio were right, no one quite gets it as right as Louie Shelton.
A memory riff that will live forever todays music has no hooks like this.
