My BG Story: Bought the single to this 2 mths after its release on 12th February 1994 without even knowing about the song etc just a friend from school said it was a good song back in December 1993, I was 14 at the time & I still love the song & the BG's I was fortunate to see them in 1998 as well!
Wow! Glad I stumbled on this. Really hits my heart tonight as I am really missing a dear friend who lost her life to a senseless, horrific accident back in April and I miss her terribly and feel as if there is no one I can talk to. R.I.P, Debbie, I miss you more than words! Thank you for posting this beautiful video, the skyline is very touching as well. It's ok to cry....
I am so sad... I deleted my Peter Tomarken sites tonight... (not enough interest) I have been crying tonight and this song tells me how I am really feeling...I feel like I lost him again like that fateful day March 13th of 06.. Bee Gees really tell it like it is in a song... Good song to bawl too... I feel so alone... :-)
Peter Tomarken? Oh anyone who has seen old clips of Press Your Luck has got to love him! And whatever happened to the host of America's Wheel of Fortune? He looks just so familiar, but I dont know from where.
I loved Peter very much and wanted to do a site to him... It barely lasted 2 years and the sites were closed last night.. I cried to this last night for a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time...
I think of Peter Tomarken when I hear this... He was another crush of mine when I was younger... I miss him and this song just shows just how much I do miss him...
this moves me to tears, i remember the day i saw this broadcast, my father had gone away to new york city and was arriving there the night this aired on top of the pops. i cried from begining to end. my father is no longer alive and this song brings back memories good and bad and moves me so much. thank you so much for posting this. it makes me feel so close to him and his memory.
the best part is at 1:39 :))

They wrote this song for their younger brother Andy Gibb who died of a cocaine overdose!

Really? I didn't know they wrote this for Andy.

@legionkeeper That's incorrect, Wish You Were Here was about Andy from the 'One' LP

No, it's not. Just some metallica fan tried to vent his frustration at the bee gees here. i hope that clears things up.
ilsy74 3 years ago
So this is that classic metallica everyone always talks about.

This is really great. It's really something that they don't sing playback on Robins voice. Very nice

I tend to think this song was written in memory of their youngest brother, Andy, who died in 1988.
