  • lol im watching this and i can hear a plane flying outside of my house! XD

  • It's a miracle the structure held up to the weight and stress.

  • Should call it Hang Ramming, how about putting one of those on a surfboard too! Boooooo

  • Sounds so much like a proper jet plane for a such a wee motor! Anyone know what the thrust is?

  • THAT IS WHAT I CALL REAL FLYING!

  • noisy but wicked

  • Cool! Kenu Bodyboards

  • that is nothing new I done that with a bean burrito and a bic lighter

  • Dear Santa,

  • its such a shame roads only allow cars. Why don't they start adding aircraft lanes on roads. If highways added a dedicated lane for small aircraft it would increase the places aircraft could land. At the moment that is the whole problem with flying is you are restricted to landing at airports and airfields and private land. I have not seen any attempt to intergrate aircraft outisde of airports and airfields. we designated aircraft lanes in public

  • @210482fmj That would sorta endanger the lives of every road user :D

  • @funkykid121 NOt if you can gurantee a system that is faultless. We can train people to never make mistakes

  • ONE OF THESE DAYS I AM GONNA TRY THAT,GREAT CLIP THANKS 4 POSTING!

  • @solomonpilot767 GOOD LUCK DUDE don't forget to sign your last will of testaments

  • @MarcPaul1984 well,i am still a live but on landing i scratch my knee,ii have removed the engine i will stay the old style no engine!

  • @solomonpilot767 well glad you made it :-D how cool was that buddy?

  • OMG SHUT THE FRONT DOOR

  • Comment removed

  • Two thumbs up !!! You have to admire human ingenuity.!!! Well Done!

  • You now I first thought that it was a small jet engine and was quiet but when the video started.......holy shit

  • Very cool! Do you have details of your aircraft anywhere? Looks very affordable to build one of these. I love the fact you can take off in a few feet and then have your jet to push you further. Can you post a landing video?

  • Next use twin jets ftw!

  • Now make one THAT IS QUIET FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!!!

  • is that a Jetcat turbine?

  • It takes serious testicular fortitude to do that in that weather.

  • @obalit1133 that's a sunny day in England, note the people in shorts and t-shirts...although those clouds do look a bit menacing lol

  • HELL YEAH!

  • how many lb of thrust???????????

  • this should be on a top gear race

  • Cool! Do you know the estimated fuel autonomy?

  • how many pounds of thrust?

  • thats so cool

  • now make a twin jet ultralight that can hit 300

  • all I heard at the end was Chris was shagging some bird!

  • wowowow!!!!wow...so great ....

    yes....great

I love your small jet machine!!!heheh!!

  • In fact......... a brave man!! good vid!

  • Stuart, it's rather an extreme way to avoid shortening the keel!

  • can anyone tell me the nose angle on a hang glider?

  • Oh the peace and quiet of hang gliding.

  • @QuantumAndOptic HAH!

  • if you build one big enough and wih the right technology you might just cross the atlantic.

  • After recent government cuts, this is the RAF's latest strike fighter.

  • hahah sounds like an F-18 taking off and all you see is these little legs running. LMAO!!! hahaha

  • Wiley Coyote has the patent on this.

  • 3:12 !!! "Did you see that bird that chris was shaggin last night in t' bogs?"

    PMSL!!!!

  • glider with a jet engine? i believe thats called an airplane

  • good video! but you didn't show the landing. :)

  • @MrPagla69 Ah! now thats not strictly speaking true because if you watch the initial take-off, he lands almost immediatly and the later landing is no different.

    Hugh.

  • @MrPagla69 The reason for why you don't see him land is because they never saw him again.

  • you've got everything in one: fresh air, gliding, barbeque...! what more one can ask for :P

  • okay wow that is quite impressive that you can actually run and get lift i did not think you could do that

  • @DarkShroom Hang Gliding it`s without an engine but they still manage to gain height. The reason it`s thermal uplifts.

  • Jet powered hang glider is just like the gasoline powered solar car

  • range and Vne ?

  • that was absolutley wicked nice one

  • Good grief... Please put a shirt on. Forever.

  • "Great flight, Jerry!"

    "What?"

    "I said!!! Great flight, Jerry!!!"

    What?"

    "I said...! Oh, never mind."

    "What?"

*Gives Jeremy an enthusiastic, thumbs up.*

  • How would you log this???

  • Hang glider nothing! That's the world's lightest jet plane!

  • Opfor ac-130

  • Could you please tell me the range of this?

  • where can I get one of these?

  • @BugChampion. Type 'benashman' in the search box at the top of this page and on Ben's channel find the 'Jet Bug' clip

  • And this is really something. How long you can remain in the air? Enjoy flying. Will join soon :)

  • Never... Ever.... trust anything built, ran or operated by a man with no shirt on!!!

  • @psygn0sis that shirtless dude is Phil Heward, he is a very good turbo-engineer that has designed from scratch many jet engines. Some engines ware sold to the military for drones or other applications.

  • @thewebmaster93 Thanks for this. The 'dude' seemed to know what he was doing! LoL.

  • @psygn0sis

couldnt agree more. but it was safer than having my jumper sucked down the intake.

  • f16 taliban version

  • this is what i would like for my 50th birthday (coming up next week). would someone be so kind as to buy one for me, please? in return, i would remember to send you greetings cards on every holiday AND your birthday too. plus, i am pretty good at making people laugh. you could call me anytime you are having a tough day.

i am willing to have sexual relations with any reasonably good looking woman between 18 and 31 in exchange for one these,,,

  • hey buddy awesome design!!!!!

how much did the whole setup cost you??

  • @versatileification It was a one-off design that would be unlikely to receive certification. I understand the power unit cost in excess of £3000.

  • @versatileification Type 'benashman' in the search box at the top of this page and on Ben's channel find the 'Jet Bug' clip

  • We are very far of the Rogallo standard of the 70's. Nice flight

  • where did you get the jet from

  • @rokebahmed Try a little more courtesy, like saying please.

  • @RailMon Okay, I will be couteus. Could you please tell us where you got your jet?

  • @BigOldScout Courtesy costs nothing, does it?

You would need to contact a gentleman called Ben Ashman. He was the producer of the power unit.

He could be found on 'YouBoob' but I've recently had no sucess finding his channel. He also produced a power unit using a 'Bailey' 4 stroke engine, which was highly sucessful.

  • @RailMon sorry about that i typed it too fast can you please tell me where you got the jet from

  • @rokebahmed. Courtesy costs nothing, does it?

Bear in mind the cost of the jet unit was in the region of £3000

  • 改良すれば

    とても便利に使えそう

  • If he crashes. He will end up with a jet engine up his arse.

  • Beaucoup de "bruit" pour pas grand-chose...!

Mais, il fallait le faire !

    Bravo !

  • i feel like the engine noise is dubbed...

  • Is it possible for the jet to explode?

  • gnarly brah!

  • yes where did you get the jet , are you in europe?

  • That's unique- I think a prop would be more efficient. rcsuperhero

  • @borntafly Yeah, I really want a propeller chopping around behind my ass.

  • How does he land?

  • 16 dudes have like this glider and didn't fly..

  • Where did you get the jet?

  • watch the jet explode

  • watch the jet explode

  • Only topless people shall tune the jet engine!

  • I whish ,Iwhish wit .......

  • a bit of jet powered fun,can we see it at the Goodwood festival of speed ? this year for my birthday treat cheers.

  • thats pretty kool if u run out of fuel u can just coast back down to the ground like a normal hanglider lol convenient as fuck

  • i want one for my bday

  • isn't it pretty much a micro lite then???

  • Great job dude, this fuckin rocks. seriously, you could become a superhero if you use it as a method of transportation. How long does it go on one fuel run.

  • Really really impressive!! Better than the Red Arrows any day. Well done!

By the way, I know what a pillock is and there are some stunning examples who feel qualified to comment on this video. Take no notice, the world is full of them. Rock on.

  • fuck the mountain, we got ourselves a jet engine

  • that's cool, it's not even noisy or anything

  • cool ma, id wear ear plugs.

  • how much thrust could this engine produce? about 40 lb?

  • Because it has an engine, doesn't that mean it's no longer a glider?

  • It must be hard to make.

  • lmao wtf?

  • Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane... no it's... a feeble attempt at a jetpack. HURRRAYYYY

  • I gotta say, there's a couple of not-so-smart ideas goin on here. Case in point, working on a jet engine with your shirt off. :-/

  • That is sweet and the guy could fly, that was the best part. And to the dick that offered 300 bucks go price a jet engine rc size go for 3,000

  • aww i wanted to see him land.. what was the flight time on it??

  • That fucking noisy engine exploding in mid-air, parts flying everywhere... Disturbing the peace...That is not what hang glidding is about. It is about peace and tranquility, about silence, respecting the planet, the trees, the animals, the echo-system, it is being able to fly as birds do. The jet totally defeats the purpose. If you want to fly a jet , just buy a freakin , not a hang glidder!

  • calm down sunny, it was a one off bit of fun for us to throw around at air displays, nothing else.

There were no explosions, No trees, animals, people, even stupid ones were harmed, and 5 gallons of burnt jetA1 wont wreck the planet . But the peace was well and truly shattered, it was meant to be. It flew at 4 or 5 shows, each time there was not a single person within earshot that was not watching it for the entire flight.

are you equally as annoyed when they display 747s or airbus 320 etc

  • Wow, looks like so much fun!!!

  • ANAL SEX WITH THE SCREAMING MONSTER

    ON A HANG GLIDER

    KNOW WHAT I FUCKING MEAN???

  • great, please make contact, i want you at my airshow. littlegransdenshow(.)co(.)uk or airdisplays(.)com will find me

  • so lets start mass production - i get one

  • The eyes dont believe what the ears are hearing....

  • This is just awesome. Can someone tell me what I must do in order to this shit like this n escape the boring routine that is reality?

  • lol thats supercool

  • I now know what my new summer project is.....

  • @arnold02000

    a type of fruit :D

  • Somebody give that guy a shirt!

  • @TheTruthHurtsYup

sorry that was me, id just arrived there after a 4 hr drive and wasnt sure if it was a hot day or not. i parked up and 2 mins later got dragged to the flightline to start the engine, no one else in the country at the time knew how to do it. had no time to put some clothes on.

  • amazing=].freaken awesome.

  • hey i am intrested in this flights and i wonder what is the frame made of cuase i know they need to be light is it hard plastic tubes?

  • So what's the actual cost, and are they available to the public?

  • @arnold02000 i think it's some kindof fish

  • @roidroid Could be. I believe Red Lobster is having a special with them this month.

  • what the hell did that guy eat for lunch?

  • It is future of HG

  • jet glider lol

  • you mean a hang-jet right?

  • This is super cool! I think I've actually seen that motor before on the inventor's website -- I think I ought to keep a couple around for whenever I have the time to do something like this!

  • KEWL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  • crazy!!! :-D

  • Very cool but I'm curious about the specs . Where do you keep the fuel and how much can you carry ? How long will it fly on this amount of fuel ? What is the output of the engine and what make is it ? How does the performance compare with a Mosquito harness ? Perhaps post some of this info in the description! Thanks

  • @LostNCyberspace

the tank is 5 lt just behind the pilot. the engine uses 1lt/min at full throttle and around 0.6lt/min at cruise power. the engine was an 80lb thrust unit but rpm restricted for 65lb thrust otherwise it tended to climb sharply due to the low thrust line. was made by me when i part owned a company called microjet engineering not long before i left to start another company on my own again.

no idea how it compares to the mosquito, but similar to the two stroke engine it replaced.

  • Hi, can i ask how much thrust this engine is pushing out? Im currently planning to build my own.

  • @sharp944

normally 80lb for UAVs and the like, but restricted to 65lb for the hang glider.

  • very cool, what kin of performance can you get out of that little jet? what kind of flight time?

  • Dear santa.

  • DAM THEY BEAT ME TO IT.BUT I WAS THINKING PULSE JETS ON EACH WING TIP FOR THAT LITTLE EXTRA ADDED CONTROL..LOL..ALL ASIDE, WELL DONE !

  • The future of air travel?

    No.

  • Just asking how much was that thing ...

  • oh wow ohhh wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • is this a model jet engine, also does it have enough power??

  • @arnold02000 Ah well, I'd rather not say! LoL.

  • @RailMon I googled it. Hmm, guess I should've looked it up in the first place. Fascinating glider btw. I'm building an ultralight myself, although not turbine powered.

  • doesn't it kinda defeat the purpose of "gliding"? Its interesting and neat to watch but don't see the purpose....not hating just thinking! peace

  • That's amazing.

    Fuels capacity? Range? Top speed?

  • my true but jokely reaction to this,

so its a small plane without doors or walls...

No really that is all a jet engine plane is, just that, just with skin covering everything up and more fancy controls hahah

    But yeah its cool :D

  • The team on this project worked very very hard , To see and here this Jet doodlebug fly was unreal!!!! The landings was just like any othere glider, The guess the Jet was never ment to make the Glider Fast, every time the Jet bug went out there was lots of people with massive smiles glued to there faces!!!!!

    Well done all

Would love to see the Jet bug re run again, maybe with me flying it!!!!!!!

    Please lol

  • How did he land???

  • ah man that is awesome

  • We should do business ... this is a fabulouse idea but not only does this cost a bit i have an idea that only costs once and the rest is free to run and to maintain.. and $300 lol i think a bit more then that but anyhow none the less my idea will allow very fast travel and with a reinforced glider we could do some adjustments and hit the 100+ mph range some my work future plans are looking at 300 mph but for only 1time cost its fabulouse.. and i say the clarkson on bike it was funny lol

  • engine model?

  • It really doesnt go as fast as you would think with that jet turbine. The only true benefit i see is that its much easier to gain elevation. Do we know what speed it tops out at? Im sure if he climbed higher and bomb dived it would be much faster and may keep that speed. But the flybys in my opinion looked sloooow. All in all great job and I would drive the hell out of that thing everyday. Cant wait to see more..:)

  • coolness

  • This is amazing

  • pulce jet would be cheeper, propane, and piping

  • Love how the guy without a shirt and ear protection is poking at the jet engine with his bare hands!!lmao!!

  • @TheBenjinator3000

its an old habit, i had been doing things like that for at least 20 years. health and safety does not exist in my world

  • Takes away from what hang gliding is meant to be all about

  • @marekfilms Isn't aviation supposed to be as much about innovation as it is about exploring the unknown, pushing the limits, and all that? Experimenting with a jet engine doesn't take away from the purity of hang gliding. It's merely another means to pursue flight.

  • Where's the landing?

  • that must feel incredible

  • This is the most dangerous thing i've ever seen.

  • @michaelraymorrissey

and you havnt even seen the very scary wet start we had in france

    even i was getting worried
