Normally is talk some smack but I had a rough 5.0 coupe that we did a dohc 4 valve cobra 4.6 swap and it was a ton of fun had stock pony wheels with drag radials and a vortech supercharger running mid 11s with zero grip but it was awesome on the street I miss it!!

I am and always have been a Ford guy, but you should probably research the Windsor platform before you trash the 426 as "caveman technology," as it seems you know as much about the two motors as you do about applying a decent paint job. (Which is clearly very little)

The "caveman" 426 is based on the 2nd generation Hemi, a platform designed in 1964...whereas the Windsor platform that the 5.0 was built on was introduced in 1962. The "Caveman" 426 is a sprightly 2 years younger.

That said, for the 250hp (provided it's a 4 barrel) Mustang to beat even a stock 426 (350hp), a 100 shot would likely be needed, and even then the Stang's shit aerodynamics would allow the Superbird to slip right by. That's if the Bird is stock, which they rarely are. It's easy to bore/stroke them to over 500 cubic inches, and with some free-flowing mods, ratings of 500hp+ are easily attainable. (That's before a +300hp blower.)

I like the 5.0...but it's in a different league.

You're a liar. For a <11 second 1/4 you need (very lest) a power-to-weight ration of 1hp per 6.5lbs or more and a ton of traction and aero work.

A new stock 91 Fox had 225hp stock @3160lbs, a p/w ratio of 1hp/14 lbs. He'd need over twice the HP to even come close to 11, that's IF his stock motor still has 225hp, which it won't

475hp would yield 1/6.7. For that you will need ~18-20psi boost...which will blow a 20 year old stock 5.0 almost instantaneously. Thus, you're lying.

@ichalz @ichalz no I am not its been done multiple times. The 87-92 shortblocks have forged pistons. He copied the recipe for the car straight out of Muscle Mustangs and Fast fords, and article they had, only they used twins, he used a single 70mm turbo. Built it all by hand. 14.5 psi it goes 11.2 on slicks all day. Methanol injection turns the boost up to 17 psi and it runs 10.8 at 124-125mph. He drives it every day at 14.5 psi its for real and not impossible.

I don't like the 'euro' lights for two reasons:

1. The represent imports

2. They are usually more 'rounded.'

Ultimatley, if you like them, use them, cause believe me as you know there's plenty of 'standard' 5.0s out there, so be different, when you blow the doors off a conventional car, then who cares.

I personally love the factory(and some modified) lenses/lights of the Foxes, so I would stick with them.

Either way, it's a smashing car!
