What's the weight difference between this and the original Bubo? You mentioned that it's lighter, but is it especially noticeably so? More to the point, do you have a walking shot face-off between this and the original for comparison of the stabilizing effect?
@ThoseTechGuys Please learn to ask a question properly. WTF are you even wanting to know here? price, performance, my preference, what is better in what regard for what kind of purpose and what kind of shoot? .... *facepalm* FUCK I hate what the internet has done to basic fucking communication skills.
Seriously, WTF is wrong with you? Just ASK for what you want to know, in simple, clear language, don't make people fucking GUESS at what you're fucking getting at! FFS.
@Blunty3000 Sorry, I meant what you would rate an overall better product for photography. They're the same price. You don't have to freak out, I'm not trolling on your video.
@h0tar WTF? Because if I "put the phone ON the flower" I couldn't fucking take a picture of the flower... the phone would be ON it. what the hell are you trying to say?
Hello! Is there any way for you to take night shots or night video? Really interested in the kit but I'm curious to see how it performs in low light. I mean, as far as pixelation, etc.
I've used the OWLE Bubo for days on end and love it. I got to play with the mCAMlite a few weeks ago for couple of days and just didn't have that same enjoyment. Without the extra handle, I found it tiring to hold for long periods. I attached a neck strap on the top two 1/4-20" holes of the Bubo, but found I couldn't do that with the lite. Any thoughts on the comfort-ability of holding onto the lite?
I have a IPod Touch and I am wondering about buying this product. Does it only work with IPhones because of the shape of the holder? Will it work with my IPod Touch 4g?
This might be the first gadget I ever buy for my Iphone because the idea idea is pretty neat. Especially the micro seems very interesting to me .But anyways, how much is it for the kit? Nice video Blunty
It's very well made, but it seems a bit excessive to buy all these things to improve the iphone camera, instead of just buying a separate, dedicated camera.
Reminds me of all those crazy gadgets you could add onto the gameboy colour to make it look like a transformer.
@minxamo Please name for me the "dedicated camera" that can fit in my pocket, shoot in 1080p, allows me to ad post editing effects, then edit the footage in a powerful editor which includes music beds, transitions and titles, and then allows me to direct upload the finished edit over 3G or wifi - or even stream live to the net. ALL on ONE device, all with a simple, intuitive best in class touch screen interface. Go on who makes a "dedicated camera" like that? I'd seriously LOVE to know
@daveo2992 No, that's just what the word sounds like when it's pronounced correctly. It's only daffy North Americans who say it the stupid "alooominum" way.
@Blunty3000 Do Brits and Australians spell it aluminium? Not hating, because the British had the language first but i think there's too many I's pronounced
@Blunty3000 I know but it's a "culture" thing, if north Americans even have any. You live around it all your life than you travel or just hear these things, that's why I love traveling.
@daveo2992 the propper english way of saying and spelling is actually "ALUMINIUM", if anything you probably say it funny. I dont get why the americans have their own version of english it is really intriguing.
I tried the DSLR kit, but wasn't able to make it work how I wanted it to.
I have the XLR attachement for using external mics and that is great. As you said it works great in an interview situation at short range. I have even filmed live shots with the various apps that are available and the whole kit stands up well.
@blkhackr The noise is coming from the radio waves being transmitted from the phone. You have to film with it in airplane mode. If you film with the radio waves active you will get feedback ;)
I kind of doubt it, but would it hold an iPod Touch 4th gen? Kind of silly to ask, but it really is the best camera I have, and I simply don't have the budget to buy anything better at the moment.
I heard a little bit of crackling when you were testing the included mic. Is that noise a consistent issue with the product or could it have been someone simply brushing against the mic?
I've had a DroidX for about a year now, and with the built in 8 megapixel camera, I've been able to get some pretty astounding shots, but unfortunately haven't been able to find many camera accessories like the mCAMlite or the OWE. Is there any that you might suggest I check out? I love working with the phone, and its pictures are awesome quality. I'm looking specifically for a wide-angle or a fish-eye lens if you have anything like that up your sleeve that would work.
@halo3jocky You just don't get stuff liek this for Android phones. Too many models that vary too wildly in design, and new models flood out too often... no one sells enough of any one model to justify anyone making something like this, where as iPhone only have ONE current model at any one time, and it remains consistent in form factor for at least a year, usually two, which means accessory makers have a reliable market to design to.
Though i don't own an iPhone (own a Samsung Infuse) i'm always glad i watch your videos, thanks for another great vid Blunty, You are nothing short of the word Awesome.
I would love to buy one of these, I really wanted an Owle Bubo but I get every new iPhone and I don't want to buy something for $160 that will not work with a new phone. That is the only thing stopping me from buying it. Great review, I can tell a lot of work went into this as usual and I thank you.
One question- is the lens quality better on the Bubo or the mCamlite (or about the same)?
jesserichards 3 weeks ago
@jesserichards it's the same and the lenses are interchangeable if you don't like the included one.

it's actually acceptable to spell it "aluminium" as well as "aluminum", meaning both pronunciations are acceptable as well.
that aside, great review of a great product! would love to try one of these out.
