  • again solid state fucking drive

  • @Playerchess77 I LOVE COCKS

  • Comment removed

  • @Playerchess77

I liked how your processor is cocked. LOL

  • ssd's and sd cards dont work together. My netbook didnt reconise the sd card :(

  • @fakemanoan Sandforce I bet. Known problem. Do your research before buying retard.

  • lol at 2.23

  • My dream setup:

    320 GB SSD

    4 GB DDR3 RAM

    Intel i7 processor

    would be crazy fast!

  • @joebg1 only 4GB ram? Make that like, 12 or sometihing. There is a new board that actually has 2 Xeon sockets and supports 48GB ram. Now theres a setup. Put 2 6 core xeons in that and OC each to like 4.0Ghz and enable hyperthreading you have 96GHz!!

  • @ilovetrains12 Yo, that would be crazy fast!

  • @ilovetrains12 You would have to sell your house to afford that lol

  • @joebg1

its not that hard to get an i7 and 4 ddr3 rams..its kinda cheap nowadays.. the 320GB SSD is ultra expensive..

  • @joebg1 4 512gb SSD

    32 gb of ram

    mac pro maxed out basically

  • What a lovely nerd :)

  • @youmilkpack no kidding

  • On the wikipedia page under disadvantages it says SSDs degrade over time. Should this be a concern?

  • @kwalk30

Not really - it takes quite a long time (over 5 years IIRC) of general use for it to become severely degraded.

  • MemoryStick XC FTW

  • what is the difference with SSD and SDHC

  • SDHC is high capacity SD memory cards.

SSD is a solid state harddrive

  • I think he knew that. But what's the difference? Is the memory in a SSD different than what's in a SDHC card?

  • ssd lifetime 1.6 million hours of constant read - wrire

  • theres another vid where they connected 24 ssd together making 6 gb

  • TB XD

  • On RAID8, ya.

  • 6TB actually *rolls eyes*

  • typo. so , youve seen it..cant remember if it was 2.5 or 3.5 drives.

  • @ravenousjerboa you mean 6tb?

  • @ravenousjerboa

    you mean 6TB right

  • @ravenousjerboa 6 TB*

  • yea i have a laptop with HDD and when ever i use the hard drive when downloading things i have to have it on a flat surface because it just slows down my computer...

  • its not solid state disk, its solid state drive

  • no, it's disk

  • no no no its solid state drive..see cuz there is no dist in the drive ass the geek stated

  • oh yeah

  • SSD drives have a limited number of times you can read and write to them, thus they're terrible for computer use.

  • prove it :D

  • that number is per cell, not per drive, and it is actually a VERY large number... in other words, your SSD will outlive the usefulness of your computer...

  • Umm you can stack SSD together fool.

  • Solid state drive.. ^^.

  • Could i go out and buy one of those ssds and put it into my powerbook g4, does anybody know if I can?

  • I'm afraid it's too late... PowerBook G4 uses IDE connection while the new harddisks are SATA...

  • helpful, thanks.

  • more like one year before we atart seeing them

  • why do we need to worry about making laptops thinner lol. i guess the only thing that would make me pay the heavy price for an ssd is the fact there not as easily damaged or prone to damage by knocks bangs bashes etc which are inevitable in laptops. hard disks are the most fragile componant in a laptop i would say so SSD all the way for mobile computing. Bying a laptop with SSD as standard is sure to be the cheapest way to get it.

  • he didn't intend it to be a pun

    retard.

  • lol dude. listen to him. he obviously set it up to be a pun.

    retard.

  • im sorry for insulting your boyfriend

    retard

  • lol if Chris only know how fast they would be out. :D

  • Do you know how to solve this error

    PXE E61 Media test Fail

    PXE MOF Exiting PXE ROM

For Realtck RTL8139(x)/8130/810xPCI Fast Ethernet coverroller v2.20(060711) pls reply to me if you know who to fix it :)

  • my 64 gb ssd wont detect in bios..how can i configure it?

  • do you set it to boot first? or the promary boot device?

  • does this SSD work for macbook anyone? please reply

  • I'm pretty sure the that the default drive that Apple provides you with is a Solid State Drive, so yeah, it should work.

  • SSD vs DRAM?

    What's better for PC's?

  • what is dram? if it is the origanal drives, than ssd are better

  • LIES! tell us about the write speed and men will weep because it is slow?

  • It's "solid state DRIVE"! There is no disk inside the box!

  • fuck you

  • wtf.....

  • Mcm zul!

  • Don't forget SSD MAY also reduce heat especially on laptops. :)

  • are they reliable? i've had a few sd cards that have stopped working. even the big names.

  • nerd..

  • SLC cells are pretty damn reliable, high performance too.

    MLC sucks.

  • it will be cool if you can calm down urself and tell what you know

  • Geek!

  • Yeah but Chris is cooler than you'll ever be.

    =D

  • By the way no extra noise !

  • creo que falta mucho para que este al alcanze de todos los SSD en un precio accesible siendo que se necesitan discos de mas de 200 GB para todo lo que una PC requiere ahora

  • It's sad SSD speeds will soon surpass that of RAM. For example, DDR3 has much higher core clock speeds but their timings are through the roof. When it comes to DDR4 or 5 we will face very serous challenges. Traditional Hard Drives have been holding back computers for ages, but with SSD's, RAM will be the new limiting factor. Not only SSD's but CPU's are already capable of reaching speeds higher then what RAM can possibly achieve.

Your hardware's only as good as your worst component...

  • the reason ddr3 has more latency (cas 7 and up) is because the higher frequencies make it overheat, more wattage & heat causes latency its the same rule for processors, the higher the wattage a cpu has the more latency the cpus has, but thats something cpu companies dont like to talk about. the other issue with cpus with more than 20 watts TDP is that they gradually become microwave cookers

  • Sounds more like liquid cooling will become a must in the future, or at least fans on everything(!!!NOISE!!!)

  • it would be easier if they made energy star and rohs compliant desktop cpus rather than needing an industrial air conditioner or fluid mechanism just to cool a chip down for playing a video game. geez! Cpus that need active cooling do because theyre poorly designed and inefficient. VIA can make chips that do 2 GZ and consume only 25 watts TDP, INTEL desktop chips on the other hand are mostly power inefficient which hinders performance stability and increases cost of ownership.

  • Well, a popular thing going around the desktop community is people using laptop processors on their desktops. They say with the right motherboard the overclocking possibility's are endless and there's no problems with heat. However, the downside is that laptop processor technology is always behind the desktop in terms of the # of cores. But I agree with you, I have a AMD Phenom 9950 and it's wattage is 140W which is just insane since its only a 200 MHz increase over the 9850(125W) 65nm sux...

  • Sorry, mistake. It's only a 100MHz increase. Even worse...

  • this way early adopters will buy the junk low write speed ssds until the doublecrossers decide to put in the proper performance chips so that the writes become as fast as the reads ! remember ppl a strong economy system is a strong slavery system.

  • Here's the pattern.

    1. sell the military the high end technology

    2. sell the public worst low end technology

    3. charge both of them outragious prices

I feel I'm owed an apollogy from the computer industry, we should have had SSD a LONG LONG LONG LONG time ago.

  • well said dude!

  • fail... solid state disk? *solid state drive* is more like it. there is no disk.

    the cake is real...

  • Decades? More like years. We already see new laptops appear (in july) with 128 GB of SSD.

Now I don't know what you call "a size problem", but my current laptop only has 40 GB and I was already quite happy with that (and still am).

  • i see med-range desktops carring SSD in a few years from now as SSDs prices continue to drasticly drop

  • The only disadvandtage of SSD is price

  • yup thats probably the only thing in my eyes

  • that and size :(

  • One of my HDD's has died... hopefully SSD's don't die

  • Actually, they do. SSD's have a limited amount of reads and writes they can do and then they just die on you. That's not a hoax, it's the truth. Especially when used as HD, they *will* die on you someday.

  • lol thats obvious, anyway ssd are supossed to last longer than hard drives, so no worry.

  • It depends on the type, if it's flash-based it'll often be shorter than normal HDD, if it's DRAM based, it'll be like 150 years or so.

  • A SLC SSD has over a hundred thousand years of life. They will practically never malfunction.

  • I'm horny.

  • My dad works for a flash memory company called Spansion, he says they are already making these solid state drives.

  • obviously

you can get them but there hell expensive

  • 10 yrs?? id say 3 or 4 we'll start seeing 256GB MAINSTREAM. If you follow thats how flash based devices go.

  • LOL. Its faster cuz there's no friction. Maybe I should make a tv show too.

  • Oh man ... you guys are brave indeed !

You don't know nothing but you open your mouth like there's no tomorrow !

    LOLOLOL

  • Do you honestly have any idea of what you're talking about?

  • Holographic storage. I first read about it in a 96 issue of the Byte magazine.

  • wow i usually agree with you but you are really wrong ssd are only good for a little while. once you write on a section of the ssd hd you can never write there again it like a flash drive they really fast in the beginning but then they ultimately slow down

  • You have been misinformed. SSDs will not slow down after being used awhile. Due to fragmentation not mattering in SSDs since access time is so fast. Also flash memory have improved alot and can now be overwritten millions of times without degrading.

  • if you say something many times it becomes true!!

  • "increase of speed because theres NO FRICTION"

"we'll see them in the NEXT DECADE or so"

    "can NOT STACK solid state"

who is this guy, and who is sweeping some floor in his place?

are there moving parts!??! i need to know!

  • Haha

Could you imagine if someone walked up to you 10 years ago and showed you this video>

  • 64gig drives will be mainstream soon. the rate of space increase is extremely rapid and prices will drop with great speed. Readydrive is a useless hack. A ugly piece of bloat, do not infest in that tripe. We will see a 128 and 256 sided drive in 2008 that can be tested in normal laptops. This guy is worst then the weatherman.

  • Samsung's just announced their first 256GB. Its a MLC-flash SATA II drive has speeds of 200MBps read and 160MBps sequential write.

  • I'd say I was pretty spot on then.

  • I dont know what he is talking about in a decade we will be using SSD shit we already using it my Computer Is running Windows Vista and its all on a SSD card

  • that was great... thanks a lot.

  • does SSD have any moving parts?.........lol

  • Yes, electrons :-D

  • True, but my 4GB CF card is cheaper now (~$70) than my 1st hard drive that was 4.1 GB (~$200)

  • Solid State Disks cost motre than moving (standard) Disks per Megabyte if the price drops then maybe we could see Solid State Disks is laptops and desktops

  • dell offers SS drives on their "indestructible" laptops

  • XD you first the money for a SSD :-P

  • Chris, you're amazing! Love the video!

  • Awesome! I'm finally able to see the "Live" chat. Congratulations on the YouTube invitation and the Ustream Lifecaster grant.
