Does Steve Jobs Have a Kill Switch? NO!

He doesnt have a kill SWITCH, but something that tracks your UDID and when you download / install a blacklisted app your iPhone or iPod or iPad it terminates your device because those apps are blacklisted for a REASON! And the killswitch disable in SBSettings should be illegal. Hope I cleared something up. (NOTE: This is true. My brother did it once to see if I was right. His iPod got completly shutdown and could not connect to iTunes. He is dumb sometimes.)

I think if they c u hav a cracked app n ur iTunes library they can dispose of it. And it would be very legal if there was a killswitch because hacking your iPhone breaks your end user license agreement. It doesn't void your warranty because they can service it if they wanted to but they against jailbreaking thier products.

sry i have to right another message casue there is not enough room on the other one. but as i was saying u can disable the kill switch by installing bossprefs onto ur 2.0.1jailbroken ipod or iphone then u just go into bossprefs and click on the more button at the top right and at the bottom it says disable apple killswitch and u just click if u dont like it for some reason and it blocks the killswitch.

Haha, the problem is that Steve has confirmed that there is a "kill switch", BUT: people has misunderstood what the "kill switch" is... Its not actually a killswitch, its more like a last security solution from Apple. Its a service on the iPhone that recieves information from apple once in a while, so that if Apple finds viruses/spyware or other bad things in the code of the applications on the Appstore, they can easily delete the app from all iPhones that have it, so that everything is secure.

actually, there is a REAL "kill switch" but not for the uses people are saying these days.

it allows apple to REMOTELY remove software from your iPhone/iTouch (i.e. applications, illegal/pirated stuff) but it doesn't really do crap right now. although it isn't confirmed, apple (in the future) may be able to look at our contents of apple products connected to 3G wifi etc and report us for any illegal content.

there is a kill switch... its not anything like what you described but it does exist. The way it works is that JUST IN CASE a malicious app, let me make that clearer, MALICIOUS APP (steals your personal information, etc etc etc) gets through apples filters and into the appstore, APPLE CAN SHUT IT DOWN remotely. teve has confirmed this and it is just in case a malicious app gets to the appstore, not to brick anyones phone

Yes, you can. Everyday you iPhone makes a call home (sends a signal out to Apple). It shows all teh Apps (from the App Store) that are on it. If a malicious app somehow bypasses the App Store filters and Apple finds out and you have it on your phone, it will be deleted from your phone. Yes, you can do that. It's not that hard to do.
