  • hey wat is the chest protector?thanks

  • i would of shit my self on the machine throwing it

  • Thanks alot that relly helped me with my catching skills!Although my dad does not have the mony to buy a piching machine.

I loved the video wonse again!

  • @MrHamburgers24 Love this video to.

  • I like the rapid fire drill

  • do u teach catchers to place glove arm outside of their knee? in this video i know the catcher receives directly over his knee and it looks like it causes him problems during the rapid fire drill. he has to point his glove down to receive the ball which ive always been taught is a big no no. if he had to receive a hard throwing lefty with a dirty slider, i'd imagine he'd struggle somewhat receiving that pitch down under his left knee, because he'd have to go around to get to the spot.

  • I just tried that 'Quick Hands Drill' w/ my catchers the other day. I found on numerous occasions that the catchers started to lose there glove and in one case, my catcher did lose his glove and I didn't realize it and continued to throw balls at him. Funny, but seiously, any tips?

  • @EndoBirdd I've never had a problem with our catchers' mitts falling off! Encourage your guys to speak up if they ever need to stop in the middle of the drill because I definitely do not recommend catching baseballs barehanded. Other than that, I don't really know what to tell you...maybe they should tighten their mitts?

  • @EndoBirdd Get a smaller catchers mitt. Haha I'm only kidding :)

  • I find this video very informative, easy to understand and execute, however, I don't agree on the last drill that you presented 'Quick hands drill'. As a catcher you must catch the ball at all times, and not 'drop it' as shown in the drill. You can place an empty bucket right next to the catcher and he can catch the ball (actually receiving the ball) and then toss it into the bucket with his glove. This way the catcher is improving on receiving the ball and handling the ball at the same time.

  • That catcher is extremely skilled even if you watch the other vids. Great practice and effort amazing!

  • @stopantor2 hahahha it true

  • i was thinking at the end JESUS MODE ACTIVATED

  • The quick hands drill looks awesome I'm going to have my coach do this with me tonight

  • Ouch the 90 mph must hurt his thumb!

  • i am 14 and looking for drills to do. i am going to go practice and try these. thank you very much.

  • i am a 14 year old and i was looking for drills to do. these look very good and i am going to try these. thank you very much

  • That last part was crazy!

  • what is the catchers name

  • dude im goin for baseball catching lessons and so far every thing ive been learning has been on these videos so i kno my coach os doin a good job anyway u r an awesome catcher. keep it up

  • Excellent. I'm looking forward to working with our 10 years olds on the skills and drills you have presented here (although I don't think we'll be using an 88 mph pitching machine).

  • Thanks! I hope they help your catchers! They might not be catching 90mph fastballs yet, but you'd be surprised how quickly they'll get better when they practice catching high velocity balls.

  • @iguesi You should be getting them catching high velocities at as young an age as possible. Maybe not quite 88, but maybe 80 mph. Im 13, and I've been catching highschool and college pitchers bullpens on a regular basis.

Catching high speeds and/or older pitchers will benefit them in many ways, helping them just receive better. Ive been catching older guys for about a year, and i'm just about as soft a receiver catching mid to upper 80's than I am catching upper 60's, low 70's.

  • Proper nuances of catching is something lost among youth baseball programs, especially little league. It is extremely hard to find people or videos that discuss the top priority position of catcher. I teach catching to many and always enjoy little extra things that can add to my knowledge. Making it easier to pass it on. So far your videos are among the best I've seen. If you are planning to make videos on the top ways to condition a catcher, especially quick feet, I would love to know. Thanks.

  • Again, thanks for the kind words. I take a lot of pride in teaching catchers to receive properly and believe that more people should as well!

I am planning on adding more videos, but with baseball season quickly approaching, I probably won't get around to it until the off-season. Foot quickness would be a good topic. I also plan on doing a video on arm pre-hab. If you have any other ideas, or topics that you'd like to hear more about please email me and let me know. Thanks

  • @caboose222914 tell me about it.

  • Thanks, there will be more videos posted by the end of the week. Be sure to check out the website for updates!

  • It's so nice to see quality videos in the midst of all the garbage that gets posted on here although as a catching coach myself I do like my catchers to "stick" the ball a little more out in fornt of the body giving the umpire a clearer view but that's jsut my philosophy................Im actually working on a catching DVD right now but check out a few sections form my hitting DVD when you get a chance!

  • Thanks for the kind words! There will be more videos posted soon, so be sure to check the website out regularly. Shoot me a message on here if you want me to check out your videos.
