A lot of this is lost in translation.

For example, the Germans have 3 words for suicide:

Selbstmord (the term usually used), Suizid (speaks for itself), and Freitod (used here, which most literally corresponds to "freedeath")

@richardcadbury its true and esp worth mentioning is that "mord" as it inquires stands for murder it implies that one is not allowed to chose and acts against a higher reign whereas Freitod implies the free choise to do so and nothing not a border one crosses in killing oneself

@richardcadbury there is a reflection about the german term self murderer, and that this was not a proper term because there would be no rage against yourself as if one would murder someone else. so it is a correct translation. later on when other countries are mentioned, they refer to the term suicide again.
