  • GIRL U ARE SOOOOO FUN'NAY!!! Thanks for the Tamale tips...

  • @showstoppin68 Thank youuu!!

  • mexicans tamales...mmm!

  • 5:57 "oh SH!T" hahahaha :D

  • sorry, horrible try, that is not how to make tamales :(

  • FAIL

  • You can use one of the other corn husks to help press out the masa to get it more even. Mine never sticks, and I've been doing it that way ever since.

  • @elements3655 Great idea! Thanks for the tip! I'll try that out next time. :)

  • Thanks!

  • Here today! Gone tamale!

  • This is so great! Thank you. I'm happy to find out that I can use coconut oil. I can't eat the lard or shortening. Wonderful! I can't wait to get started.

  • @methetimewaster101 Wonderful! You're very welcome. Have fun!

  • Wtf???? She made dry tamales and no salsa verde or red I mean what that fruck??? These are not Mexican tamales and they are not even puertorican tamales....

  • @jandee74 not everyone likes salsa with theirs, my boyfriend is from mexico and he eats his plain as do I and I grew up next to the border. it all depends

  • I made them!!!!! Yay!! (and the crowd goes wild!!) Not only were they so EZ but ohmgosh are they yummy! I served them with your Daddy's Chili and it jest don't get no better than that! I do have a couple complaints though .... we all got too full. ((grin))

  • @TheTrueRae Oh, I LOVE hearing that! Great job! *heart warming* :D

  • Do you know what the dif is between masa harina and masa in simple terms?

  • @meggiemeg86 Masa harina is the dry, cornmeal-like flour you make masa out of. Masa is the dough after the masa harina has been mixed with water or something else.

  • jeez this phillipe dude can't spell and has an attitude problem ... dude it will take more than a few tamales to get a date :) thanks Hilah

  • So many are bitching about (not from scratch) So many Mexican super markets sell masa pre made and even the filling.. Its much better than buying them in a parking lot like how some sell and buy them in So Cal.. This was just a quick and easy way to make them.. With out hours.

Also I prefer quality control over quantity... Making a little at a time is good. Rather than making hundreds and having some dry and some big and some small. Where it won't cook evenly..

  • @Philipe0849 Thank you! I'm glad you appreciate the video. :)

  • I keep subscribing and every time I watch one of your vids it tells me Im not,am I getting drunk and leaving BOOBIES messages or something ;-) Its possible hahahahaha

  • @MrNapalm138 Nah! YT has been weird with my subscriptions, too, lately. Maybe it's because of the new layout switchover or something?

  • @hilahcooking Cool,because I absolutely love your vids :-)

  • When you open ur tamales there not supose to lo like that j/s there supose to be perfectly shaped like it was placed, urs came out all messed up and broken..but good try,i guess

  • @APRILBALDERAS Whatever, lady. They still taste good.

  • @APRILBALDERAS

No offense, but she made them small and just got them out of the pot. But they did not really fall apart.. A part of masa on the side is common with some tamales.

Also Her tamales do not look dry, they look moist.. She is also not making hundreds of them. She just made a few.. A few small ones.

Not nice try, more like good job...

So many show how to make 50-100 tamales.

Which can intimidating she made it clear and simple.. With just a few

  • @Philipe0849 No offence tooken, your entitled to your opinion,as i am to mine..and fyi no one said there dry..so go pick that bone with whom ever said they were ..Im glad you think she did a good job as im sure she's glad as well, but i stick to my opinion.. Thx for your opinion,no offence was taken..have a good day :)

  • It looks great... i'm totally cooking this in the weekend , thanks girl :)

  • Sorry but she ain't got nothing on the other ladies that do them from scratch

  • @Cyndyn3 How is this not "from scratch"? Do other people grow their own corn?

  • @Cyndyn3 If by "scratch" you mean grinding your own corn on a metate, then sure, she isnt doing that, but then again most people don't. That being said, everyone knows the best tamales are made using lard. No question.

  • Comment removed

  • Make them from scratch then it is a big of a deal

  • @Cyndyn3 Haha! What? How are they not from scratch? Please explain.

  • This bitch sucks

  • @Cyndyn3 Hey watch it. I really really like this bitch. I think she is cool to the bone.

  • @Cyndyn3

No she doesn't. Thats very rude...

  • @Cyndyn3 What! Heck no! Hilah is the shiite

  • My mom showed me how to make tamales a few yrs ago. chile and all. this year will be my 5th time making them. Ive been looking on youtube for some more tips. lol your the only one that rolls the tamales together like I do. theyre seemless that way. not even my mom and my whole family know to do that. or even the full on pisa lady or anyone on youtube know to do that. got a few good tips but yours is most interesting. I really like the coconut shortening suggestion. im gonna try it.

    Thanks

  • @Asteroidsking Thanks! Hope you like it!

  • i just made tamales and your video was very insightful but it would be even better it you were topless

  • U made it look easier :)

  • Awesome! I will try this for sure. I love tamales. Thanks for posting this video.

  • @hilahcooking Some people can be real douches. Don't worry about those haters. I LOVE your videos! :)

  • @MRLARGO626 Thanks for the advice! You should be a life coach!

  • @MRLARGO626 Thanks. And if you ever want to know when and when not to use capital letters and elipses, let me know!

  • @hilahcooking not a big deal..my words need help like your cooking...good day...

  • Many people watch your videos, why not post your link to EZHUH.COM get paid for the people watch and make videos.

  • Okay, I subscribed because I came across your veggie burgers. (That's what she said.) Then I unsubscribed because I am now vegan. Then I subscribed again because you say fuckin' and shit in your cooking videos. I'll veganize your recipes myself if you haven't already. Thanks.

  • @notefromself This one's totally vegan! ;)

  • @hilahcooking thanks and do you still make more cooking videos?

  • @Zafina4Ever1 yep!

  • @hilahcooking do you know any good vegan fillings cause im a vegan?

  • @Zafina4Ever1 Yeah, there's a few vegan filling recipes on my website. Go and search for tamales.

  • Thank you so much i always thought tamales were really hard to make but your cooking instructions really helped me out and thank you for the fillings also thank you very much.

  • @Zafina4Ever1 You are very welcome! I try to explain things easily so people will try it themselves!

  • hi im mexican from chiapas and the recipe is good and your spanish acent is funny jeje saludos my english suck! and i love you

  • @makaco2006 Gracias! Besitos! Abrazos! :)

  • Hey Hilah, your spanish is very good. those tamales look so good, look into making some colombian pasteles, theyre similar to tamales and are insanely delicious.

  • @amalgamation25 Thanks, buddy! Pasteles are with banana leaves?

  • @hilahcooking you guessed it, theyre wrapped in banana leaves and boiled i believe. the filling is different from region to region but its all based on personal taste. thanks for replying.

  • I grew up making these every x-mas!! ypu make it look sooo easy;)

  • @heavengypsy Yay! It's a fun tradition!

  • Your spanish is great. actual masa uses pork lard instead of coconut oil. I find making tamales a very tedious job, so i make the tamale masa into tortillas.

  • @decoysupreme Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to play around with a vegan version and really liked the slight coconut flavor. Nothing like some good old lardy masa, though! :)

  • Great video thank you for sharing..I have to try this

  • are you single? funny, hot, and knows how to cook. man thats pretty much a complete package!

  • Instead of bowling the Corn Husk you can just Soak them in water.....&& you can buy the Masa premaid so you dont have to make it your self(: just wanted you to know ha(: i love your videos Btw

  • The food isn't the only hot tamale in this video! *ba dum crash*

  • As many zillions of these as I've eaten in my life, I've never watched them being made, never knew how, obviously never tried it. You scored again, Hilah! I'll definitely be making these. Prob'ly next week, though, after I've digested the roast beast.

    Merry Christmas!

PS - I think 24 eggnogs in 24 minutes might be excessive, but in 24 hours? It's absolute deprivation!

  • @anmoose Thanks, Moosie! I hope you have fun making them!

  • great recipe, thx

  • right on,,that didnt look hard, it just takes a lot of time. thanks for the ideas!!

  • Another great video, Hiliah, but I cringed every time I heard you say "tamale". The singular form of "tamales" is "tamal". Also, I know you know how to properly pronounce "tamales" because of how you read the Spanish version of the label for the masa. Please respect the Spanish language even when speaking in English, and then I would love you even more LOL! Thanks for such an informative post.

  • @alesbica Yes, you are correct of course! No disrespect intended! I just didn't think of it since I grew up calling them tamales and tamale.

  • @alesbica Did you know that the singular version of "annoying" is "annoy"? :)

RESPECT THE HILAH, EVEN WHEN SPEAKING SPAN-YOLL!

  • @1kperday Yes, I did know that. Also, I did not disrespect Hilah. I thoroughly enjoy her shows, and I think she knows that. I was just being informative, and I was writing to her, not to you.

  • @alesbica Well i respect spanish language however. it would be better to know the point of this video instead of just the pronunciation..

because it kinda sucks to ruin the comments with " its how you pronounce this, that." maybe saying something like

" nice video,Tamales should be made like this or that" would be better.=)

i know its difficult to just relax and listen to people pronouncing your 1st,2nd language wrongly. however, just get over it.

  • i like the way you used coconut oil and suggested using sweet potatoes for filling!

  • your so hot you dont need hot sauce you can season those things just by standing next to them

  • Homemade Tamales ..mmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Merry Christmas, Hilah! =)

  • Oh SHIET. This is SO disorganized. :)

  • Thanks for taking the FEAR out of making these - they are such a traditional Christmas/New Year thing to make. Hell, girl, they sell for $12 a dozen! So you made them for like 50 cents - that was a wake up.

Happiest Christmas to you, your family and your non-thieving, cooking-receiving neighbors. Love ya in Oklahoma!

  • @OUARNP No kidding. When I was a wee one, they were about $5/doz, but they keep going up! Merry Christmas to you, too!

  • "Its delicious and moist and filled with meat" ;-)

  • I've no idea what a tamale is..

  • tamales aren't hard to make, but they always take a bitch load of time, even if you just make as many as you just made.

  • @torofighter Yeah, but most of that time is just waiting for them to cook, so you could just go do other stuff.

  • thanks for the post...i love those things and the hot sauce rules.....happy holidays.......thumbs up!!!!!

  • @HALLSYSKITCHEN Thanks Hallsy! I love tamales, too! I could eat em everyday.

  • You are very sexy when you speak in spanish !

  • @EufrasioCabanillas Muchas gracias, amigo!

  • I LOVE me some tamales! I was so very excited to see this recipe - and your Puerto Rican shirt! Too cool :) I'm actually making a Puerto Rican Christmas recipe this week - how ironic! Us cooks must think alike!

  • @iloveflavor Uhoh! Maybe we should start consulting each other every week!

  • I used to buy these by the roadside when I lived in Baytown. You rock my socks, Hilah! Merry Xmas.

  • @MrJingjong Oh hell yeah, roadside tamales are the best!

  • A hot tamale making hot tameles heeeeyyyyooooo

  • Hahahh love the shirt hilah

  • @Tacticalgearhead Custom made, my friend!

  • looks "F-ing good" : )

  • these look delicious. also - from now on, your name is 'untraditional'. 1:54 (hey - i do what i'm told)

  • @stooge81 Oh, brother... ;)

  • I didn't know that's how they were made, interesting! Loved the use of coconut oil. If it works, hey why not? ; )

  • @Pippilly It's really really good. :)

  • Great Video..Have a Merry Christmas.

    God Bless,

    Elba

  • @Wyclefdoug Aww, thank you so much! That's three likes. I'm flattered! :)

  • The jingle-jangle thang is a great tip! I was really straining my brain til you said why you put the token in.

  • @busvlogger Yay! It's so helpful especially when you are steaming something for a long time like that.

  • I have actually never had tamales. But they seem pretty delicioso :)

  • @ShadowNam275 Muy delicioso!

  • haha "thats what she said" lol

  • @stardazzle123456789 hahaha right? I LOL'd

  • I love um,I think there is one brand in Ohio in a glass jar there great, are they close to what u made?,gotta try with the hot sause, never thought af that, have a great Season thanks 4 sharing ur vids, weather sucks so bord,so I cook.

  • @VWBAJA2112 Yes, they are probably close. I have seen jarred and canned tamales down here, too, but not so much because it's easy to get them fresh made.

  • COCONUT OIL?! Hilah................................ That was painful. I'll let it slide though, I'm sure you weren't trying to be mean.

My grandma's tamales are the best, she makes them every Christmas. If I ever suggested she use anything but lard she would probably disown me, lol.

    Thanks for another vid.

  • @skaz21 I SAID you could use lard, too! Sheesh...you people need to lay off, man...

Just kidding! I know your grandma's are better than mine. Grandmas always make better food than young'uns.

  • OMG I gotta try these. i have never had tamales but you made it look easy. and you settled an argument in the process. My mom swore up and down you eat the corn husk. Wrong mama!! ;-)

  • @Elvis66 Awesome! Take that, mom! Kidding. Try it and write me if you have any other questions on the way!

  • I totally need a mixer!

  • @kozeraag Well, yes you do ;)

but you can do this recipe without one if that's what you're thinking about!

  • yay!!! in the uk, we don't have corn husks!!

  • @Iamthemaster2 Might you be able to find banana leaves, frozen? They work okay, too. Or just parchment paper squares.

  • YUM!

  • i would love to see you make vegetarian lasagna next! great video once again.

  • @TheDasha92 All of these thumbs up are telling me what I must do. Thanks, thumbs! :)

  • As always, another awesome video. Thanks! I would like to kick them up a notch with some Chorizo or some Al Pastor. Nothing like more calories and fat to kick things up a notch.

  • @tabletopreviews True, true...

  • Another great video Hilah! :)

  • @DrH2OH Thanks!

  • :)) Hey! :D
