W&M railbus 79960 was 1 of 2 to retain its German Bussing engine up to withdrawal (2nd is 79962 on the KWVR along with BUT engined 79964). 79961/3/4 were re-engined with BUT (AEC/Leyland) units. I can't confirm if 79960 retains its Bussing unit, but it sounds very similar to the German Uerdingen railbuses with that engine, and somewhat different from KWVR's BUT engined 79964. The raspy exhaust note seems common to both types though likewise not too dissimilar to the German Uerdingen units.
@islandtraction Thanks for that info. Very interesting to know and the railbus was certainly an unexpected highlight of the day. According to one of the staff at the NNR the railbus is fitted with an AEC 220 engine.
Very good Chris - great shots and some lovely sound captures of not just the trains but the bird song as well - the engine on that 'railbus' is sweet - great EE and Crompton magic as well
@NapierNimbus Many thanks Ian. The skylarks gave a nice flying display whilst waiting for the trains at the first location. The railbus was a pleasant surprise. It should've been a 101 unit running but wasn't operating. Apparently the railbus engine is an AEC 220 unit and gave a great exhaust note.

Nice shots. I haven't been to that line for 15 years. Gutted at 08:25! That rat sounds sweet.
