@koopooda Actually, there IS such a car, which is perfectly legal on the roads. It's the Renault Spider, which in some versions is fitted with only a tiny tiny bit of screen, leaving the driver and passenger exposed to wind and what not. I absolutely love the Z1, and the Renault would also be in my dream car garage.
I love these doors. They're perfectly legal to have down at speed as well (apart from in America for some reason), because they're just like old roadsters with fabric removable doors in terms of space (think Caterham 7 or an old Morgan).
Yup, in fact they were never officially sold in the US, and are a bugger to import, according to some people. You have to get some special 2,500 mile allowance by saying it has historical significance.
The regulations must have changed between the releases of old Jeeps and the Z1 in 1989.
i dont mean old jeeps. i mean new-looking ones (id say post-2000), and they have the doors completely off. so if thats fine, then driving the Z1 with the doors down must be legal (even if its almost impossible to get one over here)
I cant understand what are issues with this car. It has doors, they just don't open like in most of the cars. On basis you should have the same problem with cars like mercedes gullwing or lambo murcielago.
Well the difference is that you don't drive those with their doors up, whereas the Z1's doors are fully open, leaving quite a gap. In a low-slung car such as this, that might prove problematic if you start acting like a bit of an idiot.
I used to have one of these. I often drove it around with the doors down. Got lots of comments at the lights - "Hey, where are your doors!" :o) Not something to do at speed as it would get very windy inside the car.

@Genurain It's not broken. The doors in the bmw z1 go down and disappear into the side.

Just lean to the side of the car door without a seat belt going 55 miles an hour see if your smiling then.
