Oldest human being ever, 122! It is pretty old, even compared to biblical ages. It is really amazing especially since she only stopped smoking at 117. She drank wine, and ate 1 kilo chocolate a week. But her secret apparently was using olive oil on her skin and in her food!!! We all knowhow healthy olive (omega) oil is anyway!

@Boston1775 Not really. The average life expectancy in most developed countries has remained relatively unchanged during the past 50 yrs. The main reason avg life expectancy increased from about 40 at the turn of last century to the current avg which is around 75/80 is due to better hygiene, antibiotics, vaccinations, and fortified foods. Average life expectancy increased but lifespan has remained unchanged for eons. We age at the exact same rate as our ancestors

Jeanne Calment really did meet him. Just like she said, she met him in her uncle's paint shop, in 1888, at the age of 13. She described him as ugly, rude, badly dressed, and alcoholic.

I think the oldest person ever was a chinese man that was born in the 1600s and died in 1930 in China. That makes him at least older than 200 years! althoug the claim has not been fully proved.

Yeah, I'd been studying her and keeping my eyes open for footage. In fact, the girl's claim that she was the oldest woman in the world at the time may have been true. I think that when Calment was 114, someone else was recognized as World's Oldest Person, but her claim was disputed. If Calment was the oldest at the time of this video, that means she held the title for at least seven or eight years!

Ummm and about her claim at this time she was considered second oldest person in the world now the person who claimed to be "older" than her was a very questionable case her name was Carrie C. White. And in fact Jeanne has more proof for her case than any other supercentarian ever. She also would have held the title of oldest person alot longer if the disputed Case of a Japanese man named Shigechiyo Izumi (supposidly lived to 120 years and 237 days old) is discredited along with White's.

I don't follow your comment about Izumi. If his claim is discredited, people like Florence Knapp would still have been older than Calment in, say, 1987. I don't think it would affect how long Calment deserved the title. But without Carrie White in the picture, Calment might have held the title for some nine years.
