I agree it would be great to hear a (more) live Enya performance. Things like when she's performed Adeste Fideles, Marble Halls etc. are example of "zomgz you could SO have done that live". But songs like Trains... just wouldn't carry with her single main vocal. Her main vocal on those songs are layered and strengthen her delivery, her voice is not naturally powerful (emotionally powerful, yes :P ) IMHO. Think of her performances on Regis, admirable attempts but they did not justify the song

This is not Enya singing live. It is a lip-sync. Enya has said herself that although she'd love to do live shows, the vocal arrangement and layering etc... is impossible to reproduce. The layers echo and distort, thereby ruining the music. Unlike certain singers (Britney Spears for example) Enya doesn't lip-sync by choice because she sings extraordinarily well. Sadly, it's tech issues that hold her back. She actually answers questions about live singing in an interview.

@Servodude1  This song doesn't have the heavy layering of most of material. I think a straight up live performance could have worked on this one. A small choral group in the background could also add a live layering technique also... while letting Enya's real voice shine. OK my 2 cents is spent....:-)

What an extraordinary spectacle. ALL that effort by so many performers all making...no sound at all...in a musical aural experience. The distortion of her music and vocal layers is undrstandable, but the main vocal part in this song could be sung live by enya. I myself sing it when I listen to And Winter Came(much to my neighbours disquiet). I think there are other reasons at issue in this & in other songs, as to why enya will not perform live. Shame shes brilliant.

@pseudonym1964 Such a shame you (and others) think that. Sure, there are some of Enya's songs I've felt blend into each other, but there really is a lot of variety in her work. Her technique is unique (and no, no other 'new agey artist' has come close to her sound) and it is the Enya sound. I'm sure if I listened to some AC/DC songs for example, they'd sound much the same to me but that's their thing, their sound.

is not a concert. Just plays the song, no live sound. She has performed in such way, since her first album watermark. Just few performances with live voice sound, but nothing with live instrumentation. Recently she has expressed her wish to do a live concert, so far is difficult to reach the desired sound level. As Nicky Ryan says, must be something perfect, to avoid disappointment between fans.
