Well your wrong. Kirk is known for his solos and although he can solo well, Mustaine is much better. The solos are much more intricate along with the riffs. Also I would say that lyrically, there much on the same level. Both are very clever when using lyrics. Think about holy wars and peace sells, or the day that never comes or battery. All 4 of them incredibly all four of them meaning different things. And also megadeth are known for much more than symphony. Accept it they're both great bands.

Kirk has my respect because he does what he's hired to do, and that is play the lead guitar. I love his solo's in F2B, One, Sandman, and The Thing That Should Not Be.

Level 1 = Metallica.

Maybe I do, but I still listen quite much to Metallica too. I kind of came to a point where I respect most artists equally for what they do. They are all people making a living out of metal music, and if you can do that you're already a hero. Some artists just helped me learn so much about music and songwriting, they motivated me.
In that aspect Megadeth has left a way more impressive impression than Metallica. But I'll never forget that Metallica introduced me to metal.

About the drummer I disagree too, I really respect Lars tho'. I actually think Megadeths drummers are more skilled, and especially Nick Menza was able to interpret Dave's songwriting in a very special way and he always drummed straight to the riff. It was like a guitar riff on drums, listen to Holy Wars :D.
As for the lyrics: I just love them both. I like James lyrics alot, he sings about so many things everyone can relate to! But I just love Dave's vision on politic

I already do.....i like pantera, some of megadeth songs especially peace sells and a tout le monde, alice in chains, testament, satriani, steve vai, buckethead, smashing pumpkins, red hot chili peppers, sepultura, iron maiden, ozzy osbourne, and many others but Metallica is just my favourite maybe because it was the first and you never forget your first time.

I clearly said earlier that I love their first two albums and I also stated a liking for Master of Puppets and Justice. One is indeed a great song, but it's just been ruined by Guitar Hero. I'm not upset that they didn't stay underground. I have no problem with a band getting mainstream attention, but I do have a problem with a band who seeks it by selling out, what Metallica did.

Judging from "One" and the release of the Black Album, they threw their thrash attitude away and started making radio-friendly music that blacklashed an entire community of music. That's why Load, Reload, and St. Anger are three of their most hated albums. They stopped being good after 1988.

@MALSTRUMX That's fine, but Kirk has wrote riffs (although not as many as James for sure) such as the main riff for Trapped Under Ice,Creeping Death Die,Die,Die, Riff, Enter Sandman, and a few riffs in MoP as well. Kirk has my respect because he does what he's hired to do, and that is play the lead guitar. I love his solo's in F2B, One, Sandman, and The Thing That Should Not Be.

I look at Metallica and Megadeth as 2 stages. I went through both.
Level 1 = Metallica.
You just got into metal and you're like ''OH MY GOD THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST OF THE WORLD, LOOK AT THOSE GUITAR SOLO'S AND JAMES HETFIELD HAS BEST VOICE EVER''.
Some people stay in this stage for years, some people never get out of it. I have no problem with it, it might be a bit ignorant but if they're happy...
Level 2 = Megadeth.
You realize Dave Mustaine is a musical mastermind and had AMAZING bandmates.

Maybe I do, but I still listen quite much to Metallica too. I kind of came to a point where I respect most artists equally for what they do. They are all people making a living out of metal music, and if you can do that you're already a hero. Some artists just helped me learn so much about music and songwriting, they motivated me.
In that aspect Megadeth has left a way more impressive impression than Metallica. But I'll never forget that Metallica introduced me to metal.

I think Ellefson and Burton are kinda diffrent, I dont really care who's better, they both did a great job. It's just sad Burton never got the chance to go further... I play bass myself too and I must say, Megadeth is usually harder to play, but that means nothing to most :p.

About the drummer I disagree too, I really respect Lars tho'. I actually think Megadeths drummers are more skilled, and especially Nick Menza was able to interpret Dave's songwriting in a very special way and he always drummed straight to the riff. It was like a guitar riff on drums, listen to Holy Wars :D.
As for the lyrics: I just love them both. I like James lyrics alot, he sings about so many things everyone can relate to! But I just love Dave's vision on politic

Sorry mate but bands like Death, Dream Theater or Cynic are about 100 times more complex than Megadeth or Metallica... AJFA is not complex at all. Listen that album twice and you get it. Listen a song like ''Dance of Eternity'' and your brains explode... You probably wont even like it cus you think its just random... I listen to that song for fun cus I know every single 1 of those 104 tempo changes.
And by the way; complexity does not equal quality and definatly not fame.

I seriously dont understand how can people who listen to heavy metal not like Metallica. And when i say complex i am not only refering to drums and guitars i am especially saying that the lyrics and the way hetfield sings are incredible

I play guitar for 8 years and fretless bass for 2 years and I listen to any music from eminem to technical death metal. James is awesome and Seattle 1989 is my favourite show I've ever seen on youtube :).

It annoys me that you interpret ''Level 2'' being Megadeth as if Megadeth is ''better'' than Metallica. You're one of those ignorant fucks I was subtly trying to refer to. Man, if you think you're level 3 and so much better than others, then why the fuck are you listening to metal? It's ironic... Your choice of music is not something to show off, if you want to show off then go listen to artists that play on MTV, cus Metallica-attitude will get you nowhere in that respect.

I am just sick that in every single motherfuckin metallica video i have to read comments about kirk being sloppy and the worst guitar player in the world, or that ulrich is amateur and so one....it just drives me crazy how people say things just because they feel like it and not with real facts

Well I dont know you... but I completely agree with you, they are all great musicians.
But dont let Metallica blind you man, go look for more music! I really recommend the 90's grunge movement, you prolly already know Nirvana but try Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, it's amazing music too! Or if you want metal... Pantera? Pantera is one of my fav metal bands along with Metallica and Megadeth :) Also maybe listen to Down, band of Pantera's singer. Go for it! :P

i like how all the metallica fangirls on here keep talkin about dave stilll complaining that he got kicked out, even though he got over it like 20 years ago. its all u idiots who keep bringing it on, such fuckin posers...any true metal fan likes both bands, whether they like one more than another, they still like both.
