Jennifer and Owen are two of the WORSE actors. They aren't funny at all. How in the hell did they make it in hollywood? Must have been looks... and even then they fail.
Those type of movies always do good, especially when they're released on X-Mas day. You could've replaced Jen with any other vanilla actress (Reese, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, ect.) and the result would've been the same.
But hey, after so many flops she finally gets a box office hit. Who knew all she needed to do was co-star with a dog to get a hit movie?

I don't think Brad will win an Oscar; he's more of a star than a character actor (like Robert De Niro). Besides, the visual F/X play a huge role in creating Button, so that might dwarf his performance somewhat (and possibly disqualify it in the Best Makeup category).
It was good, but nothing spectacular that blows you away. I liked Fight Club, Zodiac, and Se7en; now that is a thriller!

Marley was a terrible nuisance and I didn't really feel a bond with him at all until the end. The last part was very moving BUT dragged out for max effect which was irritating.

Well, I myself haven't seen 'Marley and Me' yet, but I did see 'Benjamin Buttons' and it was an amazing movie and really different story..alot different than what's made these days, and the length didn't bother me at all..if the story is worth it, the length shouldn't be an issue. I saw Benjamin Button. It isn't as majestic as they make it out to be here. The movie has way too many "tell" instead of "show" moments. The characters interactions are extremely questionable. I feel the movie is good (7.5) but nowhere near an Oscar.
Simple. The cast of Marley & Me promoted their movie better on the talk shows and made it something more than a "stupid-ass dog movie" and it hit the box-office. Jim Carrey did the same thing in the previous week.
And maybe that's the problem. 'Benjamin Button' is a film which Cenk advises to 'leave the kids home' for this, while 'Marley' is advertised as a family film. Who gets in the bucks in the end?

Wait till The Wrestler by Darren Aronofsky comes out. Check out the trailer on YouTube. Cenk's friend Ben says it is the best film he has seen all year. It was at a 100% positive on Rotten Tomatoes for a good while until some guy who said everyone should go see Transporter 3 gave it a bad review. LOL! That really doesn't have anything to do with it. Marley and Me did better because it's a family movie being released on Christmas. As Jayar said, families would flock to that because they want something their kids can sit back and enjoy. i didn't know that the same writer of forrest gump wrote benjamin button. it makes even more sense that the storylines were so much alike.
the first 2/3s of the movie was cool, but they kinda dropped the ball with the story toward the end.

I don't think Brad will win an Oscar; he's more of a star than a character actor (like Robert De Niro). Besides, the visual F/X play a huge role in creating Button, so that might dwarf his performance somewhat (and possibly disqualify it in the Best Makeup category).
It was good, but nothing spectacular that blows you away. I liked Fight Club, Zodiac, and Se7en; now that is a thriller!

Marley was a terrible nuisance and I didn't really feel a bond with him at all until the end. The last part was very moving BUT dragged out for max effect which was irritating.

I haven't seen Benjiman Button but Marley & Me was a great movie. Look me straight in the eye and tell me you did not cry during Marley & me. Listen I am manly but that movie makes you cry no matter how many times you see it. If it ever comes out on DVD try to watch it on mute maybe you will still cry probably.

I am sorry but that fat guy is so wrong. I loved more marley and me I felt it was a beautiful story about a family and how dogs become part of a family and how treating good a pet is important. I felt benjie button had a message but I felt that it wasn't totally adapted to the years that suppossed to be happened, I didnt like kate blanchets character, she was a whore.

Well, I myself haven't seen 'Marley and Me' yet, but I did see 'Benjamin Buttons' and it was an amazing movie and really different story..alot different than what's made these days, and the length didn't bother me at all..if the story is worth it, the length shouldn't be an issue. And Brad was amazing in this movie, as was Kate Blanchet..now I'm off to see 'Marley and Me' and see what the big deal is. Ciao!

I saw Benjamin Button. It isn't as majestic as they make it out to be here. The movie has way too many "tell" instead of "show" moments. The characters interactions are extremely questionable. I feel the movie is good (7.5) but nowhere near an Oscar.

Simple. The cast of Marley & Me promoted their movie better on the talk shows and made it something more than a "stupid-ass dog movie" and it hit the box-office. Jim Carrey did the same thing in the previous week.
And maybe that's the problem. 'Benjamin Button' is a film which Cenk advises to 'leave the kids home' for this, while 'Marley' is advertised as a family film. Who gets in the bucks in the end?

And everyone goes nuts over animals in movies that you can't help BUT to be dismissive and want to see the other movie. omfg benjamin button was the fucking longest movie ever. i saw the dark knight which was almost as long as this movie but in dark knight i didnt keep looking at my watch trying to figure out when it was gonna end. overall, the movie sucked except the ending, in the ending everyone was crying.(well everyone who wasnt asleep)

I think "Slumdog Millionaire" should win the Oscar. I Haven't seen "Benjamin Button" yet, but I was impressed buy "Slumdog Millionaire". From the description given here, both of these movies seem to have think going on; tell the story of a persons life over a long period of time.

Wait till The Wrestler by Darren Aronofsky comes out. Check out the trailer on YouTube. Cenk's friend Ben says it is the best film he has seen all year. It was at a 100% positive on Rotten Tomatoes for a good while until some guy who said everyone should go see Transporter 3 gave it a bad review. LOL! Anyway, I think The Wrestler is going to be incredible. Plus, it's kind of about wrestling which I love.

That really doesn't have anything to do with it. Marley and Me did better because it's a family movie being released on Christmas. As Jayar said, families would flock to that because they want something their kids can sit back and enjoy. You aren't going to get kids to sit through a nearly 3 hour movie that's has a serious subject.
Besides, hasn't Aniston's publicity been far more annoying than Pitt's? Every interview she does for magazines she's whining about Brad and Angelina.

I hated the length of BB, but It was worth sitting through.
I thought BB was a very thought provoking movie, even though some of the scences seemed to drag on forever. In general I wish I had brought a note book along, there were so many interesting quotes!!!
BTW what was the point of the man sharing the fact that he was struck by lighting seven times? I take it he died by getting struck on the seventh time,,,didn't they only show six?
