  • superbe comédie musicale je ne m'en lasse jamais vu a paris en scoop.....

  • Can we stop to speak about Glee only for a moment ???? This video show us ONE OF THE MOST AWESOME SHOWS ALL AROUND THE WORLD, we don't care about Glee...

  • Why hating glee? We should be happy that Glee is spreading this kind of culture to all these gaga's adolescents.

  • most romantic movie ever. sondheim, laurents, and bernstein are the best trio ever to grace the stage and the screen.

  • I'd like to make out with this song...

  • Ahh Tonys soo cutee:)

  • 3:20

  • BEST PART EVER!!!!

  • This is the cutest scene ever.. :)

  • I just have one question...

Who could dislike this?! I mean, really!

  • This is why Glee should never do cover songs. These arguments are beyond childish. No one made you listen to Glee's and no one made you listen to this. So stop being so immature and respect that they are two different versions.

  • I LOVE YOU NATALIE!

  • Bernstein is like no other composer for is strange intervals that half change the key, but work. And by the way, glee isn't the reason I watched this!!

  • that is so weird

  • Glee sucks. I hated that they did this...

  • It's so cute how he says 'only death wont part us now' and Tony dies like the day later. This is true love!

  • @DebsTasha45 it can't be love because they decided they love eachother before they even knew eachother. Maria is naive, Tony is horny and they are both immature. just like in Romeo and Juliet, which this is based on.

  • @RedKingCommandz Not exactly. They did fall in love there and then, both in West Side Story and in Romeo and Juliet. Had they had the time to live together and get to know each other, they might have been disillusioned, or they might have become closer, as a couple should. But the fact that they might have separated later does not mean that what they had at the moment was not love.

  • @Galastel you're thinking of lust, not love. love at first sight is ridiculous and impossible. and i hate people that say stupid things like "well that's love" because they don't have a proper answer.

i know i sound unromantic but i'm really not, i'm romantic to the point of idiocy. but the idea of love at first sight is beyond idiocy, it belongs in fairy tales; not plays like Romeo and Juliet or musicals like West Side Story.

  • @DebsTasha45

I think the word is tragic...

  • This and Glee versions are both amazing. Nothing to say :)

  • @Beyondmybreath ermmm no :)

  • im auditioning for maria and im singing this song and 'i feel pretty' beautiful song i hope i do it justice

  • lol the top two comments are glee related. While I like the glee version this one is very much equally beautiful :)

  • These vows are used in millions of weddings all around the world and I kno for a fact im using them in mine♥

  • it's because glee sounds like autotuned crap. I know the people on glee can actually sing (most of them at least), why not let their actual talents show instead of having them sound like robots? It's why stopped watching glee. Songs like this one, or Don't Rain on my Parade or I'm Telling You I'm Not Going are far too beautiful when sung naturally to be put through a computer. Granted this is lip synched, but it is 2 people's NATURAL voices. Faws make it unique. And uniqueness makes it perfect.

  • @flashlantern91 Agreed. Listen to the Spring Awakening soundtrack sometime. Lea Michelle without all the computer stuff. A million times better.

  • @flashlantern91 To be fair this isn't actually Natalie Wood singing it's dubbed by Marni Nixon who is amazing

  • @PLUGINBABY1992 and its not Richard Beymer singing its Jimmy Bryant

  • And this is why I thought he was flawless. Then he killed her brother. I hate Maria.

  • They are amazing

"only death will part" he was good

  • okay... so ppl keep telling us gleeks to shut up but why???

Yes i love this musical, and as a West Side Story fan i have to agree that some ppl should stop saying that glee did better because the truth is they were both amazing! but also as a gleek i have to remind the haters that we have the right to say whatever we want .. for example, Darren and Lea did an AMAZING job on this song and they are two AMAZINGLY talented ppl!

  • çoooooooooooooooooooooooook tatlılaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar....

    çok teşekkür....

  • Will everybody shut up about glee!

  • @Paulmaclover1234

why? the glee version was amazing

  • Natalie was a beauty.

  • that is my papa! i luv that scene

  • Isn't it wonderful and striking, that moment at 2:00 when together they suddenly realize the seriousness that emereged out of their innocent play, which totally transforms the scene. The utilization of the existing interior of the bridal shop into a very convincing equivalent of a chapel, embraced in the light that streams through the circular window----all I can say is 'wow.' That's writing and cinematography with vision and heart! -Zeppolion100

  • Why are the top two comments about glee?

  • @guava186 Because on they just did West Side Story as the high school musical in the storyline of Glee, and this song was one of the ones featured.

MY question is, who are the 14 people who disliked this?!

  • Darren and Lea make better Tony and Maria; actually the whole Glee cast makes an awesome WSS.

  • @o0MSA0o Is there a need to come to this video just to rub in about what you think? Get off your high horse or GTFO.

  • "Here you go Riff. Womb to tomb"

ironic Riff dies a few hours later...

  • @KMGonza That was on purpose, I'm pretty sure, a sly move to include that line and then have Riff die. It's a bit of foreshadowing.

  • Comment removed

  • The only thing I like about the Glee version more than I like this is the key. It lower in the Glee version so I can actually hit the notes. ^_^

  • LIKE THIS IF THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF WEST SIDE STORY WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN GLEE COVERS (no offense, i love glee and they're super talented but nothing beats an original♥)

  • @1roxmysox I don't like Glee and not a bit interested in seeing them do these songs. I'd rather see actors on stage do it.

  • @amberfwn the one in glee was so haunting though. you should at least youtube it

  • @1roxmysox except for ''friday'' the original sucks!

  • So many Glee comments. Ugh. I don't mean to be rude, but none of today's actors could ever pull off a performance like this. The subtlety, the emotion, no overacting or trying too outsing their partner. This is ART. Glee may have made it sound more contemporary, but it is not art.

  • @Namenae27 No over acting... seriously?

  • @Namenae27 that is subject to interpretation. I happen to find that i ejoy the glee covers moreso due to the fcat that i find they sang better. I also like the actors more, but in terms of pure musical talent I have to say i preferred the Glee covers.

  • This song makes me want to crrryyy. It makes me think so much about Klaineee<333 ;___;

  • please upload the taunting scene!!

  • It's just so...I mean pretty audacious of them to stage a wedding! I wish guys were still so eager now...apart from the crazy ones of course lol

  • It's not make-believe.

  • this is my favorite west side story song, and now I love it even more since darren and lea sing it on glee tomorrow!!!

  • ALL I can think about is KLAINE!!! <3

  • oh fuck, did glee pick this up? My mum used to sing me to sleep with this song, I don't want this torn apart by those bastards too! They killed the midnight train and they'll kill this too.

  • @magicaxis that is so sweet that your mom sang that to you! i love west side story so much and this song brings me to tears. It really does piss me off that glee is doing this. they have the tendency to fuck things up such as rolling in the deep by Adele. that was a train wreck.

  • @Xxnicoroxxx Have you heard the cover at least? That's one of the best covers I've ever heard. You can't judge someone's talent or work just by one song

  • @Paal935 yea um...i watch glee.... i like glee a lot it's just that i like west side story better.

  • @magicaxis I KNOW!!

  • I love west side story! The best musical Glee could have picked imo :)

  • Ugh not all the damn glee comments..Where were ya'll before Glee talked about this? I bet most of you didnt even know about this awesome play/movie.

  • @TwistedSister09 I knew about this before Glee talked about it and I love their version as well.

  • @paizliegh Well then you're one of smart ones who knows great stuff

  • Beautiful song

  • Love this song!!!!! :D

  • Thumbs Up If U R Here Because Of Glee :)

  • preciosaaaaaaaaa¡¡¡fantastica pelicula¡¡fantastica banda sonora grande Leonard¡¡

  • AHHHH THE FANS ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!

  • @KimbobCraig KILL THEM!

  • 3:21 song starts.

  • Tumbs up if you are here for blainchel and their sex scenes with their rispective partners :D

  • Darren Criss is made to be Tony for a fact lol

  • one of my favorite scenes. i love west side story. for some reason glee doing everything gets on my nerves...

  • ohh us glee fans obsessing

  • @gabbyvegify i know right!!it's crazy!!lollll

  • Lea & Daren :D

  • They. are. so. cute.

  • its funny how all the comments are glee related

  • I love Glee. I love West Side Story. So Rachel and Blaine better do well on this song.

  • Song begins at 3:22

  • yay! Raine duet!

  • Womb to tomb

  • @paranoidfrandroid Birth to Earth!

  • My mama!

    Your mama?

    xDD

    she is plump!

    FAT! xD

  • can't wait for the blainchel duet to this song!

  • @loserlikeme11 oeeeh <33 i,m so exicted =D

  • @loserlikeme11 Really? I heard Klaine was singing this. Where do people find out this stuff? ^^" -Nic

  • @NicoletteGerbi spoilers lol

  • @NicoletteGerbi also because Blaine is Tony and Rachel is Maria. Logically, it'd be them singing it. :P

  • awwww darren and lea are gonna sing this <33

  • @renatastarzforeve21 of course we compare this to glee. not that i have a problem with it :P

  • @renatastarzforeve21 they did a great job eh?

  • @krissyluvzcolfer yup! they did amazing!!!

  • She is plump no doubt?

    FAT! XD

  • It's funny how tall he is and then how short she is :P

  • Just the way he looks at her while she sings makes my heart flutter everytime!

  • @NDChicka125 It really is a special scene because in their world, this IS their wedding. Their entire relationship only lasts 1 day. They meet at the dance, then at her apartment that night. Then here, they get married. And sadly later this same night, all the tragedy including his death happens. So everything and all the emotions are amped up and the audience can feel it.

  • ...srry papa

  • this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I was a kid when West Side story came out. nothing equals to this.....a masterpiece!!

  • "You can not, my mama" LOL

  • This movie is amazing but soooo sad! When they say till death do us part I was like :'(

  • I love this song. At the time I saw this movie this song was my least favorite. I was about 12 years old. Now at the ripe old age of 45 I LOVE IT. I know what the song mean now:))

  • In real life she hated him. Perhaps that is not unlike many real marriages.

Oh, that the love should be true and everlasting as we used to wish it would be.

  • FABULOUS MUSIC and LYRICS !

  • "even death wont part us now" most beautiful lyric

  • @crazyramus I agree. My wife and I wrote that into our wedding vow.

  • @Zeppolino100

    Aww that is too sweet.

  • @crazyramus

I love that part of the song as well.

  • Comment removed

  • Hmm... I've seen this before, but I didn't remember this song. It only comes up now because my teacher suggested playing this (piano) for a wedding. It's certainly amazing.

  • I'VE SEEN THIS FILM MILLIONS OF TIMES AND I'M DONT TIRED OF SEEN IT.

TONY IS THE BEST ITS MY PAPA TOO AND MARIA TOO!!!! JAJAJA

A GREAT FILM!!! THE BEST MUSICAL OF THE HISTORY!!

  • 'Make of our lives one life, day after day, one life'

I pray I could find my Anton <3<3<3

  • Why can't people just leave people alone? Life is difficult enough.

  • beautiful song

  • "Fat."

  • Natalie Wood? She was in West Side Story? I've been living under a rock.

  • This still pulls at my heart strings ,also makes me smile an hope someday :-) classic luv it when in back a day love was 4ever and meant something . today everything is thrown away even luv x

  • I love how Leonard Bernstein hints misfortune is on it's way throughout the whole musical every now and then, like at 4:39 sooooooo good and does it with enough caution that it doesn't ruin the ballad either.

  • A video to warm the coldest of hearts ....

  • Weding is always touching .

  • they are so cute!!

  • Robert Wise is a genius!

  • If I could sing this at my wedding, wow:) Wow wow wow. This musical is just, breathtaking.

  • @sigsoundfan Sorry papa.

  • It's not easy to carry off this kind of a scene but Beymer and Wood do it splendidly. I must be getting sentimental now that I am over 40....I got teary-eyed.

  • @jdale1259 Especially Since They Hated Each Other !

  • OMG this song never fails to pull my heart strings luv it I'd luv to have the words as wedding vows ! Have to be with a certain Mr Right x

  • This seen is so heartbreaking. They are so,so young and they never had a chance to live.

  • omg the make so they can look latin!! anyways I love this movie

  • whenever i hear this song it brings a tear to my eye. the love that they have together is so very beautiful

  • I've always been moved by this scene esp. its music.

  • just beautiful!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • This song will be on my wedding! I love it!

  • AW, i got to sing this alone in front of class alone!!

  • Awww so sweet, shame it don't happen like that anymore!! ..Oh well.. lol

  • This is so adorable!!! ; ;

  • Love it x

  • THAT'S MY PAPA!!!

    Oops.. sorry papa!

lol, i really love this musical, tied for my favorite, against the sound of music. that ones hard to beat for a classic, but this is really good. anyone out there played the medley for this??? my school band is playing this and i'm freaking out because i have no clue what to expect. help!

  • @WolfRunnerTokyo9 I have to play the melody for our concert. We're doing a medley of WSS songs and this is one of them but it's a solo. So you're not alone. I have to play this standing while everyone sits.

  • My brother is singing this song in NYSSMA, a vocal solo where they give you a song, our family is so excited! lol

  • how can anyone dislike this? it's basically the most romantic part of this movie, and one of the most romantic songs ever created

  • you know what, I actually heard that they couldn't stand each other in real life... :(

  • @TheKnickKnack123456 Most big stars can't... :(

  • this may just be one of my favorite ever musical scene! <3

  • I'm singing 'Somewhere' from west side story for solo fest

  • OKay, so I definitly looked for a ring on their fingers... They were really good at pretending the rings were there... its a good talent to have.

  • that is a beuatiful song

  • Well pop insofar that it's 'popular music'. It's not classical, it's not rock or whatever and a lot of musical-songs are based on characteristics of popular music. As is this song. And for a song based on Popular (or pop-) style, one should not sing in a classical way or sing with a heavy classical-intonated voice. That's the argument I tried to make. I agree that the term 'pop-song' was too bold. For that I apologize.

  • when i was 7, i went to see my cousin in this. se played maria in her highschool play! that was when i decided to get into acting! thank you west side story!

  • -THAT IS MY PAPA!

    -sorry papa

    -she is plump no doubt

    -fat

    i <3 these lines

  • They should have let Natalie sing the part. Her voice was a decent voice and it was her. Listen to her sing Let Me Entertain You in Gypsy Rose Lee. She had a richness to her voice. This singer is a little too polished and perfect. Not bad, but not Natalie.

  • Kathryn Grayson would have made a marvelous Maria.

  • I've decided that this song will be played at my wedding. :D. It's so beautiful!

  • @emopinata12345

Same. lol I've got quite a few songs in mind, and this is one of them. =)

  • monkees.....

  • Beautiful shot @ 3:20, with the light beaming in and falling on the veil. Poor Natalie would be 72 years old if she were still around--can you imagine? She'd still look beautiful, I'd bet.

  • "THAT IS MY PAPA!"

    lol this is wonderful.

  • I've always loved the part where Tony goes "Sorry Papa" and puts on the hat <3

  • wow... get get blog
