  • вы не подумайте,кран там для подстраховки :)

  • do they use techno music so it sounds more futuristic?

  • It hovers but, can it fly?

  • Lets face it - what we mean by flying car is what we have seen in Back To The Future II, Fifth Element and others like that. We dont want a noisy unstable plane kind of thing.

And I will deliver it to you soon...

  • Lifter technology instead of propellers? Lot less moving parts and weight = safer everything.. Throw in an andrea Rossi cold fusion electricity generator and you'd be good to go. Thumbs this comment up if you'd like some of these propeller cars to at least look at the "anti-gravity" (not anti gravity) wind lifters on youtube and adapt them instead.

  • it sound like 4 strimmer engines held together by a lawnmower

  • OMG an UFO

  • lol thats it LAME!

  • I must admit I was a bit skeptical of the possibility and the technology of the flying car. Now I am a believer.

  • i would like to se it fly not only go up alltouh its really cool

  • i would like to se it fly allso not only go up

  • i did not see it fly... i saw it hover... belwo a crane... with a cable attached.

  • Too many restriction for the average person to have a car that can fly! This will only be a dream for those that can afford it and that have a pilot license. The technology is not here yet to have a virtual electronic super highway on a display panel that can direct the flying car to stay in a flight highway virtual pattern.

  • I'm not quite sure if this is the future we should want, not this way at least. We should think more carful about how we want to change things, the car industry is a good example of how it SHOULDN'T go.

  • looks sooooo gaaaay!!!! and it is gaaaaay!! they probably went out of business

  • wow, a fency looking helicopter ...

  • Too bad the project is essentially a failure. It looks so cool too, kind of like the Mach 5.

  • BIG F FOR FAKE!!!!!!!

  • @crazykiller90001 BIG S FOR STUPID!!!!!!!

  • The crane is not picking it up you can see the slack in the cable it's just there in case something goes wrong it makes the insurance company happy.

Tethered flights are often done during early testing of VTOL vehicles.

Some people just know squat about aerospace engineering and the testing process.

  • @Membrane556 I agree 100 percent. They don't realize what a PROTOTYPE is. the latest VTOL are still not the safest things but they are safe enough to be operational. But every one go ahead build your flying car, get about 20 feet up and slam into the ground. Let me know so I can laugh at your ignorance.

  • Why can't just put a mini version of a harrier jet enjein, make it look like a 50s buik and Vila Flying Car of Future DUH.

  • how can you get those little models of the skycar they have at the begining of the video?

  • The M200X shown rapidly in the beginning is my dream vehicle (literally 3 dreams about it), not the red M400. If you want a real feeling of levitation or magic carpet ride or how does it feel to ascend like a humming bird, you wanna buy the cheaper, cooler looking true vtol flying saucer model of the M200 series. I've been accompanying this craft since 1989 on Beyond Tomorrow channel 5 fox in New York and have been a fan ever since. Read all about it and check Moller's website regularly

  • @1200com There was a flaw with the old Saucer design, maybe after they get some in the market they will spend more time to make that classic you want.

  • A first step to a flying car but still a bit dumpy. Mabie lightweighted material necessary.

  • on the web, there is no real video of a real take-off or landing of this car.

Can it really flight ? i'm not sure...

  • @freemind02 I understand, but I have seen pure honest documentaries on this on television, its not capable of honest flight.... YET. Its still a proto-type, its gone from a UFO style that was almost impossible to control in 89 to this machine you see today.

  • yoy!!

  • yoy could tell it was fake

  • @tmuntz5 Yoy, are an idiot, watch again watch the cable it doesn't hold it the entire time just the decent mostly.

  • caca maca

  • Apart from being one man's useless fantasy, most people couldn't afford the car let alone the crane that goes with it.

  • i dont think people will be flying cars in the future. the future will be cars able to drive themselves. unless we can find anti gravity, non of this nonsence bullshit is going to work. look at all those dumb idiots clapping

  • i think all cars should have a bumper car tube thing that goes around it, that is my invention. NO ONE STEAL IT.

  • mola

  • Its not a fucking Flying car, Its an expensive Noisy Hovering couch!

I would like to see him fly this around atleast 20 miles in forward flight before I call it a flying car.

  • i want one :D

  • I'm sold on buying this. It looks like it won't need a long road to land on and also looks like it don't need a pair of long wings.

  • I grew up in Davis Ca and have been watching Moller's flying cars progress for 40 years. As kids in school we would take walking field trips to the UCD campus and watch it fly around on a tether. It was loud and uncontrolled , and I see after 40 years of work not much has changed...Poor guy has yet to figure out how to make air more resistant...We'll never get our flying car until they learn how to make em turn and stop quickly.

  • HOLY FUCK ITS REAL??????????

  • why is it called a car if its a plane ?

  • @iBizkitas An airplane is defined by the generation of lift over a surface or "plane" with an airfoil shape. In other words, wings. This machine flies on the basis of reaction matter. That is, it's lift and thrust come strictly from the engines.

  • I've been seeing this damn thing since I was in highschool 30 years ago when they were asking for investors with $1000. I wonder what those investors got for their bucks. First time I have seen it without a tether line. If it did work, it would be regulated to death because "it looks dangerous." Needs more upsidaisium.

  • @matoman5 If you look at it carefully while it is flying in this video, you can see the line. Check again.

  • only rich people are going to drive those

  • fck- fly damit!!

  • Theres no way in fuck I'd fly a car. Most people can barely drive on land.

  • come on i want to see the real vid /!!!!!!!

    no strings .

i have seen it go and it ruls

  • what if a nigger stole it?

  • yeah what if a nigger stole it and flew it into ur booty hole yeah that whould be so cool awsome

  • I know!! Totally anus excitement!!

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND yeah if a nigger stole it, he would bling it up with some chrome 22 rims and find a way to make it bounce up and down lol

  • yeah if that happened then it probably wouldn't take off because of all the added weight. Hence it would just be a regular car. lol

The added weight being all the wannabe bullshiting ego and gangsta rap cd's that most negros listen to thinking that they are "in the scene" because they are black.

I guess jews would have a lot to rap about too right? With the holocaust and everything. lol

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND heres another pussy actin hard on youtube cos its 1 of the only places he can say nigger so freely, man up and say it to a black persons face u fukin retard, let me guess ur sister and motha be sucking black cock an ur h8in cos u aint packin, looooooooooooool i like fools like u, u make my day bobby

  • @Jamac007 don't forget about the fake bullet hole stickers.

  • :O true and if he pick up ur momma tho :/

  • how pathetic

  • How long time are they going to show the same again and agina. Now days you can buy a giro for less then no money. Isnt this ever going to fly propolly?

  • This could put a whole new slant on road rage

  • Noisy useless tethered nonsense. That's all it is. The idea is futuristic and romantic and it gets imagination going. But lets face it, skycars will not burn petroleum fuels but some new energy form. Energy is the key here - back to the basics.

  • @smacl61

And on a note to that I'm almost thinking that their might be idea's with cars that run off of "almost" nothing.. My idea of it would kind of work like a 8 speed bicycle... Except the gears would be more set towards the engine. :D

  • @smacl61 They will also need to fly themselves seeing as the general populace are terrible drivers to begin with.

  • the title of this video should be, "noisy useless levitating thing on a cable"

  • @dirtypaper you forgot... unstable... noisy useless levitating thing on a cable because it can't even do that... the very thing that moller claims that it can do. You would think that in 10 years they would show you a video of it actually hovering and flying in a straight line from point a. to point b.

  • its a shitty car and an even worse helicopter. But as far as scams go all the money went for one rich executive

  • The Moller Skycar is a giant scam/fraud

They have been working on the car for decades, have accepted millions in investor capital and deposits on the car (delivery starts next year, we promise has happened about 10 times) yet there has never been a fight where the car was not hanging from a crane.

In recent years the company has been nearly in hiding, being found guilty of fraud and going bankrupt is a million times more likely than this company ever delivering even one car to a customer

  • I like the one on here its a plane but yet a compress and release kinda rides the wave blimp airplane

  • impractical, rather fly those one-seater helos

  • Never get pulled over by the cops again.

  • id rather fly my jet

  • id rather go on my grandfathers helicopter than this..

  • i know its just a helicopter.. and it will be frigin expensive.. but... i really hope THE Flying car, wont look like this!.. would be a major fail... it isnt even capable of such things like a normal family sedan!

i hope flying cars will look more like the ones in "The Fifth Element" the future would be alot better...

  • everything in the 5th element looks better then the shit we have now

  • yeah.. it does...

  • The hardest part about flying that in a airport holding pattern is that the crane is going to be in the way of other landing traffic. :)

  • mad!!! props can cut wire!!

  • that nots a car doesn't even have fricking wheels might as well call it a damn helicopter cause thats what it is

  • Yawn...

  • what people dont know is that the richest people can have that first, but first you have 20 years old, you dream of having that but we need to have proper liscence for that, and then traffic code for the sky lol, and then finaly when you have the money for buyin one of this you realize you have 80 years old

  • meh........... its probably going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

    so i dont care.

  • bankrupt, investors ruined, was it a con game from the beginning?

  • well it may fly but paying for gas would be a bitch

  • this is kinda dumb i dont understand y people dont just make it like an airplane but with wheels like a car not that hard

  • soo many years and dollars spend and the result is just a protptype which can elevate 3 meters... I call this a failure.

  • car????thats more a plane---lol

  • Too dungerous!

  • no no no no!!! weres the cup holder??

hehe doesnt it look a little like the car homer simpson invented for his brother.

  • Too noisy, too much vibration, and NO glide capability. Even a helicopter can autogyro down to safety. Sorry, Moller, I respect your pluck and such, but there are better ways.

  • yeah thats my thoughts too

  • Right?! Hi-5! Too slow. No, but really, I'd rather be discussing personal LTA dynamic vehicles, or ultralight automobiles with configurable wings, like that new one with folding wings. Too tired and buzzed to remember the name right now... But really, I'd rather fly in an ornithopter of questionable origins before flying in one of Mollers buzzbombs. Nice looking, though, like an old Vincent DiFate painting.

  • Terrafugia, there a vids of it on utube.

  • I agree. the use of those... 'semi-jets' is so ridiculous it's not even funny. also, a heli's ability to autorotate down is due to a great deal of factors, and it's still not exactly 'safe.' i've seen plenty of experienced pilots ball one up.

the more i contemplate the whole 'flying car' the less i think it likely. the technology may be there, but i just don't see a safe enough system in place to support it. not on a private level anyway. i'd rather see changes to the current groundways.

  • Right ON! I would rather pedal a human-solar hybrid ultra-light AUTOMOBILE in it's own safe environment, like parallel pedestrian highways. Don't they constitutionally owe this to us? And do I really have to be the one to make the first ultralight car? I'm so sick of being a pioneer...

  • It wouldent be a car then would it ???

  • my dad built this car

  • you are also an idiot

  • yeah my dad built the engines for that

  • you are an idiot

  • then again we could just make a halo pelican and get every geeks heart to stop including mine =D

  • these people have wasted much money on projects such as this one, you would take a person with money to be intelligent, this is not intelligent, a car is something you can drive on the road, can you drive this on the road when youre not flying it? this will never get anywhere other then amuse geeks at their little gatherings

  • It's basically a really bad aeroplane. We've had roadable aircraft since the 1950s, but the big problem with 'flying cars' is that you'd need a pilot's licence to be able to fly one.

  • They should give up! I've been excited about these things since first reading about them in the '80's.

    Then... in studied engineering.

If I ever saw one fly untethered, with someone in it, or more than afew seconds, I'd faint.

    Environmentally devastating too.

  • thats not a car anymore that is just like an airplane

  • This is a very good work, congratulations to the builders

  • sarcasm?

  • now the problem is that it runs on jet fuel not ordinary gas so ever buys that car can only fill it up in airports

  • Platanok... The other problem is that in order to fuel it they will have to haul it to an airport on a flatbed, because they sure can't FLY it there! OR drive it.

  • Yes Jed3245, kinda like a helecopter except this flying car has 700 horsepower and weights 1400

    pretty big achievement lmao.

  • looks like a helecopter kind of

  • The US government first successfully made the flying car in around 1956.

  • I own a pet giraffe. He shoots lasers from his eyes.

  • Comment removed

  • You can't hide ignorance with sarcastic denial.

  • haha.

  • He's right. but I think he's refering to the piaseki "air jeep" which could do more decades ago than the moller has ever done.

The Bell X-22 also has a similar configuration to the Moller . but actually worked and flew well... for decades

  • ahahahahaha @Kdanc86 comment

  • I have been seeing footage of this thing going up 25 feet in the air and then coming back down again for around a decade. Is it ever going to BLOODY GO ANYWHERE?!!!

  • bitehack[.]tk (Remove the "[ ]" )

  • Turn on anti-gravity safety autolanding procedure and read a newspaper while the craft lands at the nearest gas station :)

  • Hmm, I wonder what would happen if while you're flying over the city you then get engine failure.....

  • Each of the four engines actually has two Wankle engines in it. So there are actually 8 engines. You can have up to two engines fail (if they aren't on the same array) and the vehicle can still fly. Also in a worst case scenario there is a parachute attached to the craft.

So, what would happen if an engine failed? Simply land the craft immediately at the earliest opportunity.

What would happen if all engines fail? Parachute ejects and the craft floats to the ground.

  • Heh, kudos for the guy not giving up, but wouldn't this craft drink fuel like a camel having crossed a desert? Still remember seeing pictures of this futuristic baby ages ago, we should be in a "back to the future"-future ages ago :/

  • Yup, Wankels are thirsty and a small diameter ducted fan will never be as efficient as a large span rotor.

Mollers ducts are based on Dr Alexander Lippisch's flying ducts, but other scientists from 1940s such as Anton flettner made helicopters that would fly 3 people easily on 160hp.

    So compare:

    1940, 160hp = 3 people flying effortlessly

    2009, 700hp = 0 people, not flying anywhere

    watch?v=64fgG2CnHn0

  • thats the worst wannabe car look alike "plane" ever

  • fool

  • !!!!!Fantastiques, des bonnes decouverts, il n'ya pas de doutes, bon continuation!!!!!

  • All of the videos I've seen of this piece of shit show it hovering a few feet above the ground then landing back down...... doesn't this piece of crap move beyond that?

  • NO SHIT!i know what u mean and what the fuk is the point of makin a bunch of the same shit diff colour when this shit doesn't even diserve to be called a fukin blimp?

  • Hum!!! Is it really a flying car or just a bad plane...not sure it ready to be called a flying car... maybe in 50 years. One day for sure!!!

  • If the piece of scum bush would spend more money for useful things like this in his useless president time instead the whole military shit we would fly this cars now.

  • not if you don't have a pilot's license... and everybody flying these things around would be an air traffic control nightmare, not to mention the massive increase in air-to-air collisions...

  • I think the air traffic wouldn't be a big deal considering they would make new regulations for driving skycars, i.e. have hazard lanes lit between the "air-roads". (lamp posts might need to be taller and a focused beam of light would be shot up aswell, the only difference with skycars and grounded cars would prob be the higher speed limit and a wider area. The Speed would maybe limited to the height of which it is driven, the faster the skycar, the higher it must be at for less air-traffic.

  • he STILL can't fly that damn thing without a tether???

  • I remember seeing this in Popular Mechanics when I was 14. I'm now 29. Bravo, I surely would have given up by now.

  • Why would he give up while investors keep giving him money?

  • This thing used to be called the "moller merlin 3000" or 2000 or something. I read about this when I was in 3rd grade, and I am 26 as of '08 now. What's that, 17 years?

The previous prototypes looked more like an '82 corvette. Yes, this idea has been around and isn't some youtube recent hype.

  • Too all you flamers here.

Here you see somebodys hobby which most likely is the source of tremendously valuable insight for developements to come. All you can say about it is: "I have see bigger, faster and with nicer color."

Show me what you came up with besides writing comments on youtube.

  • Skycar? Looks like some tacky looking airplane that just goes up and comes back down. Oh yeah, that's very exciting! (not.)

  • So many years of research and all we have is this ugly looking car that only hovers for less than a minutes and still tied to a power cable.......have seen such footage more than 10 years back!!

  • 欲しいぃいいいいいいいいい

  • there is no such thing as a flying car. if it flys its classed as a aircraft! ffs man

  • Yeah, its an aircraft that's supposed to be as practical as a car. Which we already have plenty of anyway, and this certainly isnt one of them!

  • future is comming:)

  • The future is always coming *rolls eyes*

Besides, this piece of future has been around for a long time...it was invented by the Wright Bros.

This is pretty much a plane.

  • A pilot afraid to fly this? Sure you are a pilot? Bet you're not a skydiver are you?

  • I'm not a skydiver- why jump out of a perfectly servicable aircraft :P However, I won't get into any aircraft I'm not comfortable with flying. Apart from anything else, it would probably be classed as a helicopter due to its VTOL capability, so as an aeroplane pilot I wouldn't (physically or legally) be able to fly it- only those with both aeroplane and helicopter licenses would qualify. I think the 1949 Taylor Aerocar was a better design, with its detachable wings and tail you could tow behind.

  • grubble..grubble....

  • Amazing engineering, but dangerous as hell. If only 1 engine fails, you have a real problem. I'm a licensed pilot and I own and fly a homebuilt airplane. But I wouldn't even consider flying one of these. It's not a "car" and it barely flies. Still, as I said, I'm amazed that they got that far with it.

  • Yeah, it looks a bit of a deathtrap to me. What is amusing is how some people think they would be able to buy one of these and fly it without a pilot's license. If it flies, you need to be a pilot to use it.

  • streets? you air highway

  • i havent yet seen any of these do anything more than a low hover, but imagine if you crashed one of those, it wouldnt be pretty

  • Jeez..Four rotating turbines.Lots of complicated mechanics. A true maintenance nightmare...

  • does it look like a car ...

no; it looks like a props from the starwars movies that never really caught on.

alll that doc mollar has done has made a rubbish little metal piece of junk that dosent ven look like a car fly.

i man its possiable to make anything fly but its harder to makesomething fly safely.

doc. mollar has had a good atempt at this but he has not created a car he has created a flying machie. i think that a a flying car should have the shape of a planes wing then it will fly

  • i have an idea to help with the whole forward momentem problem you seem to have...the solution four more engines facing backwards right on top of the other engine...i imagine that would make it go quite fast WHILE keeping it in the air

  • To: petem1989;

You're wrong on several things in your comment.

    1. You're not going to fly it manually, it will be piloted automatically and navigated by GPS Satellites. (electronic highways actually)

    2. The idea with the aircraft is to save time, reduce traffic and to travel safely with minimum risk of collision.

Dr. Moller has some realistic and now proven ideas for future transport.

Now the only thing is to convert them to run on alternative fuels to furthermore set an example on safe progess

  • Point1. Well I personally would never get into an aircraft that didn't have manual controls of some sort- I want to be in control of what I'm flying. Autopilot is useful, but can't replace human pilots. Heck, we can't even make practical self-driving ground vehicles yet.

Point2. The only reason air travel is safer is there's a lot less traffic up there. Putting everyone in the air would negate this.

It's an interesting concept, but can never realistically be used as mass transportation

  • Flaz: What has Moller PROOVED? He has a flashy prop that hovers, quite an accomplishment, but until this thing actually transitions from a hover to forward flight like an Osprey or a Harrier, he has proved NOTHING! Making this thing hover is SIMPLE compared to the part he has NOT demonstrated. The engineering learning curve awaiting him is monumental, and there's no evidence that he's making any effort. Notice that when we SEE the thing hoovering, there's NO PILOT on board! It's not man-rated.

  • these don't really seem like flying cars as much as little planes

  • That's basically what it is. A more accurate description of the 'flying car' is a roadable aircraft i.e an airplane you can take home with you from the airfield. You wouldn't be able to fly one on a driver's license, so only those with the appropriate pilot's license would be able to use them. The idea is you can drive home in it, or land if the weather turns bad and continue by road. It's not designed as a vehicle for airborne freeways or anything like that.

  • well in reality its not a car or a plane it is whats called a "vertical takeoff and landing" (VTOL) aircraft allowing a craft in this case a transport to take-off and land like a helicopter BUT fly like a plane, those engines on the sky car actually rotate. an example of a VTOL aircraft currently used would be the CV-22 tilt rotor Osprey in the united states military (has a civil conversion as well). so its not a car as it doesn't drive on roads or a plane cause it doesn't fly horizontally. lol.

  • the m400 is by far the best and closest we are to the "flying car" concept thus far.

it IS drivable on the road, by the way... it's just much "cooler" to fly it. xD

a car, by definition, is "a wheeled vehicle", not necessarily one for the road - trains, old-west carriages, cable cars (wheels on the cables)... even the compartment that's suspended from an airship that carries personnel and cargo (and a power plant)

anyone knows the status on the m400?

  • i agree

  • flying cars arnt a good idea

shit we use air planes and now where missing two famous buildings the most these would to is cause a rise in terrorism

  • nah not really tbh...

  • seriously? do you see a lot of car bombs? no. that's totally invalid.

  • shucks. back to crossing the globe in our legs then. =T

  • My Toyota Prius gets pretty good fuel mileage.

  • Ok I have seen this THING in so many documentaries and the douchebag who built it. He keeps going on about what it can do, how awesome it would be in traffic jams and so on, but i have yet to see what the piece of shit can do!! There are so many clips when he hovers in it with a safety cable attached, but can it really fly like the asshole sayes it can???

  • last minute bolt tightening is not something I'd want to see before taking off in this thing!

  • it's tethered because it can't fly without crashing.

  • why dnt they build a 1/4 modle and fly it.. so simple it really is
