@ThePsychicSasquatch No, I don't really believe in the concept of "best" in music. There are tons of more accomplished drummers than me on YT. But, thanks, I appreciate the thought. ;)
AWE.. Man! You've done what wanted to do some 10 yrs ago by putting together a darn near replica of Uncle Neil's set AND mastering his playing. I'm back at it though.. building a set again slowly but surely. Great Job!! -Kip
That was excellent as a long time Rush/Neil/drummer fan i know how hard and detailed neil's playing is -a real achievement to even get a facsimile of it you nailed dude.
Another great Rush song flawlessly recreated! Great job! I'm a relatively new drummer currently working on hand technique. Do you have any tips for increasing hand speed/accuracy? Thanks :)
This was great, so I subscribed. I've been drumming for four years and playing percussion for seven, and this is a real inspiration. Are you in any bands?
@baronofrage Thanks! Sort of. My Rush tribute band is currently on a hiatus due to some medical problems affecting the members, including me and my poor back. :(
Great job! What I really respect about you is you have a great ear. & you know how to figure out Neils style as the way he plays it. I have been playing in Rush tribute bands for a long time. I have toured the country doing it, Played Rushcon 3 times. If I need to brush up on some Rush. I can watch your videos and know that you are probably playing it just the way Neil did it. Thanks for posting & keep up the good work.
"Another day as drab as today is more than a man can endure" is exactly how I felt when coming home from work today. Until I watched this. Thanks for turning this drab day around! Outstanding.
wow your smooth. 1:03-1:30, others have played this and while the notes were correct the feeling was just not there as it was with your playing. Watching you play this was truly chilling. You are fantastic and one of my alltime fav;s to watch.
Aloha from the Big Island-nice to see you healed up and back in top form. Always loved this song-one of my favs from Power Windows-very underrated. Really enjoying the 2nd camera angle-if possible, please try to incorporate more of the side angle into your future vids. Mahalo for sharing your passion with the rest of us mere mortals. Aloha Tama.
Now that was cool! That was always one of my all time fav Rush songs....overlooked. Brings back memories of Rush playing Reunion Arena in Dallas back in 86! Great tour! Thanks for posting!
Will you consider making a video on some of the sticking you practiced to get your fills so tight, and also how you got so good at incorporating the kick as well? That's a video I'd watch a hundred times at least.
It is amazing the level of complexity invloved in a Peart drum part from a song that, on the surface, seems so straight forward. Also, do you learn by feel and sound, or do you find vidoes of him playing to see the stick play? Lastly, are there any more nuanced drums in the game today?
@datinsky69 I learn my listening a lot to the song first, sometimes dozens of time for just a small detail. I also watch any videos I can find although you have to be careful here: contrary to opinion, Neil will change drum parts often for live performances. After "studying" Neil's playing for 30 years though, I can guess a lot of things he does and how he does them now by just listening carefully.
Hay, Pierre...Really amasing! I loved your grip and perfection, as always!!! As you know, my job is photos and videos...If you recorder with 3 or 4 cams (or separeted shots) I can edit for you! What do you think??? Would be a interesting videoclip of a drummer...Hugs
Once again, a GREAT cover by you, Astro! Your accuracy is uncanny - really great job. I also think that they could bring this song back - it's a great live song. Keep it up!
Brilliantly performed! Love, love this song! Another one of Rush's exceptional "B-side" wonders off one of their finest albums to date. Thanks for sharing!
@bndafngr Well, years ago, I played quite a bit of Led Zeppelin with some folks so Mr. Bonham forced me to develop some foot technique and speed. A song like "Achilles Last Stand" will get your legs burning... but it turned out to be useful for that little syncopation madness in this song... ;)
@Astrotama This is one of these songs that they should bring back in their shows. I saw it performed live during the Power WIndows 1986 tour (jaw dropping moment) and I just can't imagine how much it would be spectacular to watch now. Power Windows is a favorite of Geddy. Time to bring some songs back from that album!
great job, that was sick! I LOVE THIS song too! amazing lyrics, killer drumming.. Power Windows is definitely one of the high points of their career
