I know this might sound bad, but I believe we foster racism by forcing people to be around others they don't want to be around. I do believe people have the right to choose who is and isn't allowed to visit their establishment, but they should expect the same thing in return.

Screw this stupid club. This camp paid about $2,000 to swim in that dirty pool once a week and that is the thanks they get. And what kind of a business turns down $2,000 just because, "The kids are black?" Not a good one.

Interesting. Out of all the videos I have seen about this, I never heard about Hispanic kids being kicked out and it was 'only blacks'. If that is true then I never heard seen any Hispanic being interviewed or that they brought up the race card and was mainly focused on 'white racism towards blacks' - More double standards, case closed.
While it would be bad publicity if they didn't allow black people into their pool it would be completely legal, as it was a private pool. The issue is that they forced out of the pool and refunded for no reason other than racism. That is a breach of civil rights.
i would understand why the kids would be mad if it were a public pool but this was a private pool. i thought US private company's had a right to refuse service to customers they dont want. Im not racist at all bu this is a fundamental principle in a free (capitalist) society (even though a capitalist society can never be truly free), just the same that if the pool was owned by Canadians who didnt allow anyone but other Canadians who were on vacation

I have been to America a few times and it is far more racist than Europe. I think people are just used to it but I noticed it. I noiced that restuarants and hotels for example have blacks and hispanics in the kitchen but never behind the desk or serving costomers. But having said that I have been eating in the Hard Rock Cafe in London for 10 years and they have never had a black waiter or bar tender but almost all the kitchen staff are black.

Also, it sort of pisses me off that people who don't even know what really happened are just saying that the whole club is racist and horrible, when it was only a few people who said something. I live in Huntingdon Valley, have been to the Valley Swim Club, and I am not racist.
People living in Huntingdon Valley grew up going to the Valley Swim Club during the summer, and it's sad that a couple of people who weren't thinking straight when they made the remarks, most likely would close the club because of lawsuits, and the club doesn't have the money. Oh well.
Huntingdon Valley is like living in a bubble, and most people are just not used to being around any other minorities, and do not know how to react. I am ashamed of whoever made the remarks saying they were scared for their children, or they didn't want their possessions to be stolen, and most people living here (and members of the club) would agree.
I live in Huntingdon Valley, PA, and it is not the swim club that is racist, and it's not like they don't accept any people that are of a minority into the club..in Lower Moreland township (in Huntingdon Valley- an Upper-Middle Class area) there is literally less than 10 black teens in the whole high school. I could imagine that when the middle aged people went to school here, there were even less.

I have been to America a few times and it is far more racist than Europe. I think people are just used to it but I noticed it. I noiced that restuarants and hotels for example have blacks and hispanics in the kitchen but never behind the desk or serving costomers. But having said that I have been eating in the Hard Rock Cafe in London for 10 years and they have never had a black waiter or bar tender but almost all the kitchen staff are black.

Some times people get accused of being racist by people who don't have all the information and just think it was because of the color of skin. What if they told you that a group of young black people came to the park and the manager wouldn't let them in and then called the cops? I live in Huntingdon Valley, PA, and it is not the swim club that is racist, and it's not like they don't accept any people that are of a minority into the club..in Lower Moreland township (in Huntingdon Valley- an Upper-Middle Class area) there is literally less than 10 black teens in the whole high school. I could imagine that when the middle aged people went to school here, there were even less.

the worst part is that the adults that were promoting this discrimination are sending a strong message to their children (discriminate based on people's skin color) and fostering resentment. hopefully integration takes place and the kids will play together and realize that they're all just some kids trying to exercise and have some healthy fun
