how bout everyone just stop talking out your culo and listen to the lyrics for once . . if you cant do that your obvoiusly another poser hipster fagget who likes songs for "the beat"
also punk is not a set of rules you follow by, punk is doing things in your own style way and ideal which is what some people cant see for some reason
that whole message of punk is so pretentious, but some of the music is great. I actually don't have any problem with pretension, but better make sure you have the talent to back it up. All these famous punk bands that are mentioned, they're fame is a RESULT, they didn't conform, remember this is the late 70s the innocence in music is still present. And i couldn't care less what they do in their spare time.
this is a great album ...im selling my copy on ebay if anyone is interested ...i want a mint copy so im getting rid of my copy which is in fair to good condition
the fact that all you "punks" are having in depth discussion on what punk "is" is pretty sickening. LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONG! THIS BAND IS FUCKING SICK! WHO GIVES A FUCK? AS LONG AS IT'S NOT JUSTIN BIEBER OR POSERS LIKE GREENDAY, WHO REALLY CARES? it's ironic how the ones who make such a huge argument about it are usually the biggest posers/fags
Rudimentary Peni oh yes fucking outstanding straight to the bone nerve racking punk what else would it be so many years so many turntable needles later its still on there!
actually listenin'to peni when i was in hospital in 1984 (with a broke neck) helped me on the way to recovery..the lyric "wheelchair, wheelchair"gave me some strength at a hard time.
Yep, money has a strange way of influencing youthful idealism but weren't the 'punks' partly to blame for buying bondage gear etc, becoming tools of marketing men. It happens to any movement that challenges the system - it becomes co-opted, partly inadvertently by its own choices and by mistaken notions.
so glad to find so muc rudimentry peni online, it's bveen forever since i heard this song...lol. they we're one of the best of the crass related bands...i bought the album when it first hit stores and it changed my view on what good punk was....sweetness.
The Clash& Pistols and bands of that ilk were the thin veneer of punk, but the real true spirit is to be found in bands like RUDI & CRASS & CONFLICT, and bands like Amebix & Icons Of Filth, Exit-stance and DISORDER. It's only my opinion but when I was a child I saw GOD and GOD told me that I would always be right, so I must be right.....and if you disagree with me then you obviously must be wrong....sorry 'bout that but there's not much I can do to change it except to say, Tough luck old chap !!

This is great, but as far as the message,,,, it is funny because without John Lydon or Joe Strummer, this band probably wouldn't even had existed. Still a great riff and good song. Irony?
Not so much irony.I think they were trying to tell punks that Lydon and Strummer were only in it for the money and just aping the "rock stars" they claimed to be against by living a life of sex drugs and rock n roll and general bourgeois decadence?
Exactly. of course they would exist, playing the same ungry deathpunk melodies against selling out under any kind of tag (punk, rock etc). Punk is not a Joe Strummer product.
@ScarecrowsBurning Says the authority on what punk is. Why is every youtube comment section filled with rhetoric about what and who is and isn't punk. Going through that very motion seems to contradict the ideas that lie at the root of the first punk bands. That motion is a product of punk becoming a trend.
@anarchobands well lydon dosent lie about the money...back in the pistols days they got screwed badly.. now today he is very vocal about doing it for the money and i dont blame him one bit... you know i was threaten by Profane Existence with lawsuites in the mid 90s over a patch i made and was selling to squatters for like .50cents of an old Profane Existence patch... yea they threaten to sue me if i didnt stop making and selling that patch... now that i am against...
@magneteye it's funny how everyone thinks that punks owe their genre to freakin Pistols and Clash. Did you know there were lots of other bands around, that just didn't [or didn't want to] make it to the mainstream?
I'm not sure those guys have any right over or even any relations with the anarchist punk scene, to me they just fucked up the image of punk to the mainstream.
@Eruhen you know you can say that to any music genre. Like this, "it's funny how everyone thinks that metalheads owe their genre to freakin judas priest and Black Sabbath. Did you know there were lots of other bands around, that just didn't [or didn't want to] make it to the mainstream?" same with jazz; john coltrane and miles davis, blues: robert johnson and bb king, country: johnny cash and hank williams sr. synthpop: gary numan and depeche mode, post punk:bauhaus and joy division, etc etc.

Punk was punk, with all its different subdivisions. Those who were around in the late 70's and early 80's can understand that.
Punk never had any boundaries or limitations, anything was "go", even a 50 year old grandmother starting a punk band...
