If we take this verse literally, as you & the JWs say, the last part of it contradicts Matthew 16:27, where the dead will be rewarded. 2. This is not referring to the unconsciousness of the dead but to things that are happening "under the sun." In verse 5, the living know what is happening or is going to happen under the sun (in this living world) but the dead do not have any knowledge of this realm.

@Thegreyraccoon We see the interaction and the troubles that arose among the Jews (captivity, falling into paganism and idol worship etc) God made was setting things into place. I haven't read the entire bible yet, so I'm not going to say I'm 100% certain, but I get the notion that salvation by Christ was the plan of God from the get go. Accepting Biblical parameters as a standard it is safe to say that most people who claim to be Christians aren't real Christians in the Bible sense (see Matthew 7:13-29) therefore what you have heard from this group may not be valid. "Being ripped to pieces by demons" is not in the Bible. The Bible says God the Father chooses a few to be saved from damnation & Jesus dies for those.

The Book of Hebrews in the New Testament can explain it to you. In short, Jesus is God & Perfect, thus, his death is eternally infinite.
