I hope the Shareholders vote this down! I LOVE AirTran and can't stand Southwest. I always fly AirTran out of Milwaukee, but if this goes through I won't be flying Southwest, I'll be flying Frontier.
What wasn't mentioned here was the mass cutting Southwest will do to Airtran...Southwest operates much like your typical city bus or mass transit system...A business plan that has been successful for 30+ years...That being said, goodbye hub in milwaukee y have 2 hubs in the north when 1 will do...good bye small market cities like MDT, ABE, AVL, HSV, ect ect as soon as the subsidies run out...
so no need for any 717s and the fleet consistency can remain in tact..no XM, no GoGo, no biz class, not even an assigned seat... and as far as this "growth" is concerned...Southwest watched as we all did when ATA grew themselves out of business...Please dont be fooled, this is a sad day in Airtran history as you watch your company sell themselves out to the very company they sought out not to be...Fair well Airtran...And i wish all the crew members of Airtran nothing but the best...
Very sad about this acquisition. AirTran was a class-act airline; cheap business class upgrades, assigned seating, in-flight wifi.....I refuse to be part of the cattle call Southwest boarding process where I have to fight for a coach seat.
