Ronald Reagan was an actor, that is all, he was dishonest, he raised taxes on the middle class when he said he would not, Carter was not a good President but he had way more integrity and honesty than Reagan ever did.
It's electing the same type of politician over and over and expecting the same result. The government is out for only the government. Take back the power people or loose it forever.
The position this once great Nation is in today is not because of one event conditioned by one particular party. It is a combination of irresponsible, selfish, greed perpetuated by a few "PEOPLE" placed in powerful positions, governing over a unaware, uncaring citizenry. These chain of events have conditioned a "perfect storm" and now all hell is about to break loose. The definition of insanity is not doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
So much technology at your fingertips and yet you let your blind hatred for small letters ie. D or R get in the way of your God given rights to FREEDOM. For the first time in my adult life I am ashamed of my country.
The apportionment of seats in this House of Representatives was based on the Nineteenth Census of the United States in 1970. Boootttthhhhhh chambers had a DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY. It was the last time either party held a filibuster-proof (60 member) MAJORITY in the Senate, until the 111th United States Congress in 2009 (in which both chambers once again held a Democratic majority).
Let me try and paint a picture to you non historians... Reagan style. Sorry for the multiple entries, 500 character limit.
The Ninety-fifth United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, DC from January 3, 1977 to January 3, 1979, during the first two years of the administration of U.S. President Jimmy Carter.
It's Liberalism that has infect our country to it's core, and everyone in the country knows it. from our courts system to our education system, to our immigration policy. Liberalism has driven our country over a cliff of immorality and insanity. and you are not going to say " trailer park " and " six pack " and have that say your some kind of clever brilliant person. when you are just the kind of person that hates everything great about our country. IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT HAVE US IN TROUBLE !
@usaScrewjob: Yeah, we need more right wing fuckheads like you. Maybe another Timothy McVeigh to bomb a building. Perhaps another James W. von Brunn to shoot up a museum. Hey, Joseph Stack could fly another airplane into an IRS building if he had lived.
Ultra left? Yeah, we have to worry about them hugging trees and singing Kumbaya.
Beaten like a rented mule, you will run away like every other GOP asshat.
The banks started giving these loans while Clinton was still in office you dip shits. you people are speaking in Liberal talking points. you have no idea what your talking about. I'm not trying to defend Bush, I couldn't stand the fiscal socialist fool dressed in Republican clothing. and to say that my statements are poorly composed, is just plain stupid. i can tell what kind of anti American hate groups you people must be from. the kind that have driven our country over a cliff insanity !
@Phlegmatic010101 The Reagan accomplishments are all documented records you can look up if you have the courage Moron. I'm not going to waste my family time to re-educate a stupid angry Libtard on the facts. look them up yourself. you are nothing more than an operative of the anti American morons who would like to see America turn into a Fidel Castro type of economy. Screw You !
@Scrubbrush2193 What is scary? That you should keep more of your money or that the government should spend less money so we wouldn't have a 15- or 16-trillion debt, virtually all of which came under Democrat Obama. You really should learn to think with your mind and not with your bum.
We also need a George Washington, but Washington and Ronald Reagan are both dead and not coming back. We do have Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum. Okay, Ron Paul, too. Those are the choices - no Reagan, no Washington, not even a Jackson. No clear cut man to clearly defeat Obama exists. We have to work with what we have while Obama just has to sit back, say nothing while the media portray him as the downtrodden field hand with the Republican nominee as the cruel, bullying overseer.
@ensignbay your a fucking moron. I guess you want slave labor in America. Fuck you fuck Reagan and fuck the Republican Party. That's why we borrow hundreds of billions of dollars from communist China thanks to right wing nuts like you. Just to let you know America will be destroyed by scum like you but we will fight you to the end. For us it simple, Liberty or Death. We will never surrender to freedom haters like you. Reagan's legacy was massive deficits and less freedom. Burn in hell.
Wonder where we'd be if after having enough nukes to blow up the world just a few times over, we stopped and invested the money into the people rather than the military industrial complex.
"fool", "Idiot" and "friendless douche" are all examples of ad hominems. Its a weak argument style often refered to as a logical fallacy. I could be all those things but still correct. I could be none of those things but incorrect... Im sure that shit works on the ladies but you need to be more clear and open to honest inquiry. Can we, at least, agree that Reagan's main purpose was to undo FDR's policies ?
@tommyfgilmore Everything you posted was a lie. 1) usgovernmentspendingcom shows. Federal spending in '81 was $690B, in '88 it was $1,064B not even 2 times. nd Reagan was not Congress, it was the congress (heavily Democrat) that ran up the debt. Reagan sent 6 balanced budgets to them that Tip O'Neill said were "Dead on arrival" FAIL 2)USGovt debt was $990B in '81, it was $2.55 in '89. You are an idiot EPIC FAIL.
@svvmichael1 I think you misinterpreted me - I called your comment good, not the one calling Reagan satanic, lol. I take it back though. I guess I overestimated the level of intelligence you were using in your replies.
History is gonna repeat itself Obama is Carter! Get ready for a big patriotic revival when Obama gets kicked out of Washington! The next president will make liberal a dirty word again! Fuck liberals, socialist and communists! Were are a free people keep government out of my life!
@JimBowie1133 Yes, the minimum wage does RAISE unemployment. If you own a business, and the government increases what you pay employees, but your sales are the same, you have to employ fewer people. Period.
Latest example, unemployment didn't begin increasing until 2007 when Congress passed a new minimum wage. They did it again in 2008 and unemployment increased even more.
@ensignbay . Obviously that alone is not the cause or can be proven even to be of the major causes considering the considerable waste elsewhere in gov't spending. Unemployment began increasing in 2007 after the housing bubble blew up and the banks were in collapse and the economy fell...to say it was because of a 75 cent increase in minimum wage is ridiculous.
@warfossil , Well, if you look at the areas of the market which were hit with the most unemployment around 2007 you'll see that the jobs lost were not minimum wage paying jobs, they were jobs in the manufacturing (lumber and construction), factory, real estate, credit agencies, and auto - this began during the housing crisis as you can see those industries are directly related to the housing market. This was before the minimum wage increase.
@ensignbay Nations in Europe are looking to Germany to help them now. Germany had a deeper dip economically than the U.S. but recovered very quickly. One thing they do is refuse to allow their manufacturing companies to leave the country. They can expand abroad but can not shift their base overseas...
@ensignbay Your "latest example" ... 2007-2008 was the financial melt-down period. This is Reagan's paradise. A return to the 1800's. Which was charaterized by boom and bust economies. Rapid build-ups and crushing break-downs in a 7 to 10 year cycle. Stabalizing regulations have been eroded. If your not already rich then i sugjest you buckle-up and prepare yourself for the roll-a-coaster ride. We are now in the Reagan-era, 30yrs on. ENJOY!!
@ensignbay That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Unemployment increased in 07 and 08 in reaction to the housing crisis, and the collapse of Lehman brothers. Not minimum wage, which increased to counter the inflation.
Our economy is 70% consumption. Increasing minimum wage increases consumers ability to buy so the sales DO increase since the demand is still unfulfilled as evidenced by 50% poverty. The more money is spent, the more goods and services are bought, the more jobs it creates.
@AzBirdDog Sorry to smack YOU with some facts, but minimum wage has NOT increased underneath the Obama administration, and if adjusted for inflation, we're actually making 3 dollars less than what we made when minimum wage was first implemented.
I love how you conservatives can only argue with us by tieing our philosophy to Obama even though Obama has only been implementing the cuts you guys love so much.
@AzBirdDog Also on the subject of the debt ceiling increase, I suggest you go look at the deficits Reagan ran up in the 80s. The plague of government spending originated in his presidency the same way the current deficit was created by Bush. Increasing defense spending while lowering taxes creates a big hole in the budget, and we end up borrowing from other countries to fix it.
@AzBirdDog Now who's having a bullshit session? " The collapse happened underneath your guys' watch, not the Dems. The trillions were initially given to the banks by Bush, not Obama, so stop with the horse shit.
As for "nothing happening," the recession ended two years ago, and now we're in the recovery, which is slow has been chugging along rather stable. The reason we're not going faster is because the state Republicans have been CUTTING jobs.
@AzBirdDog You're completely full of shit on both of those accounts. The housing crisis was specifically created by Bush. During the 04 campaign he toted the low interest rates as a reason minorities should vote for him since they could now buy homes. That was his strategy. The wall street collapse happened again, under Bush, and TARP was passed in the weeks after Obama won the election, but before he was inaugurated, the spending triggers happened after he got into office. Go look it up.
@Derekrife1 You are out right lying through your ass so fucking much, you're making a complete ass out of yourself on the internet and should be banned completely!
The democrats, since the carter years have pushed and pushed lenders, even by threat of lawsuit, to give low income families home loans! If you don't know that? Then just SHUT YOUR FUCKING LYING MOUTH NOW!
The clintons came into power and PUSHED AND FORCED again! Democrats caused it. Sell your BS to a fellow democrat.
@AzBirdDog The clinton did not "force" banks to take risky loans. They de-regulated the banks by passing the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act, a Republican bill as evidenced being named after three Republican congressmen. This did not contribute to the housing bubble though. The housing bubble was created by Bush by having interest rates lowered in the housing market so poor people could buy homes despite not being able to afford them.
@Derekrife1 Barney Frank and Cris Dodd lowered those rates and regulated banks to give those loans. it's time to stop putting all the blame on Bush, who i couldn't stand by the way. he was a fiscal socialist, and an open borders moron / big spender. but Liberalism has almost destroyed our country and if we had Ronald Reagan back in the white house, we wouldn't be in the mess were in !
@usaSAVAGE Barney Frank was the ranking Democrat of the Financial services comitee in 2003. Not sure if you remember, but the Democrats were in the minority until 2006 moron, and if you read Frank's testimonies, he advocated against lowering the interest rates and pushed to put priorities on Rental housing, which didn't fit with Bush's agenda to create homes for low income earners. Even then they were only senators, only the president can take action to pass legislation.
@Derekrife1 Republicans deregulated the banks by passing regulations like the Gramm-Leav-Bliley Act? Clinton could have vetoed it. Carter signed DIDMCA, Reagan signed Garn-St.Germain Act, HW Bush signed S&L Bailout..all after passing thru a Democrat Congress. The President doesn't control the interest rates, the Fed does. The Fed is also a form of regulation. Regulation, not deregulation, was the problem by creating a moral hazard.
@ACDC7369 I actually agree with you, and I'm not a fan of Clinton or the Democrats, mostly because they side with republican ideas. The Fed is a tool which can regulate, I aree but the federal reserve is beholden to the President since he/she appoints the Chairman. The previous chairman was Alan Greenspan, a known associate of Ayn Rand, deeply influenced by her philosophy of Objectivism. To argue that we were Regulated into this recession doesn't hold water.
@Derekrife1 Greenspan also used to be in favor of free banking. He abandoned his support for that as well as his Objectivist ideas long ago when he became chairman of the Fed. He is living proof that even the wisest of men can be corrupted by the levers of power. Regulations, like the ones I listed, created the moral hazard that caused the banking system to collapse.
@Derekrife1 i agree with most of your comments. however, it is easy to blame bush but the housing bubble actually started with Clinton administration and their focus to get everyone (even those with bad credit)an opportunity for home ownership. Republicans just removed regulation. Both were wrong but as usual the democratic party is just not smart financially or do they run the country from a business standpoint. The idea of allowing everyone to own a house is idealistic but not realistic.
@mamadoenut Certainly, and I don't like the Democrats, everyone seems to think that. I don't like Obama, his regulations are total weak-sauce and don't accomplish anything significant, which is probably due to the influence of Tim Geithner who I despise. That said to blame him for the recession, bailout, or housing bubble as others have is simply ridiculous when he wasn't even in office then. That's my only contention I really have with AZbirddog, his convenient rewriting of history.
@Derekrife1 There's enough blame to go around, but one can't deny the role that the Community reinvestment act of 1977 played as the interest rates and other factors played out to create the perfect storm for the Real Estate market.
@Derekrife1 you're a fucking moron the reason we're in a recession is because of the repeal of Glass-Stegall which was what kept investment banks and commercial banks seperate. While the republicans agreed with it, it was Clinton's idea and hes said many times he wanted everyone to be home owners forcing banks to give loans to people with bad credit history. Think about it for the 70 years Stegall was in place there was never a major crisis, then when its repealed our economy crashes
@letsgetstuy I invite you to re-read my post in which I recite the name of the bill which repealed Glass-Stegall. Gramm–Leach–Bliley, the bill is named after the people who wrote proposed, and sponsored it, similar to how Frank-Dodd is named after Barney Frank, who introduced it, and Chris Dodd, who watered it down so that it doesn't touch derivatives.
The Bill was not proposed by Clinton or any Democrat, although they certainly should be held accountable for passing shitty Republican ideas.
@Derekrife1 You are wrong. The Clinton Justice department DID intimate banks into making loans to folks who could not pay them back. They were told that if they did not do more minority lending they would be SUED by the federal government. Even FREDDY and FANNY made sub-prime loans. You cannot blame the bubble on just Republicans. You have to blame THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT as whole for screwing with the free market.
@CommonSenseJoe Yes, and no. They did tell them to stop discriminating against minorities, but they didn't tell them to lower interest rates for them. You're making an argument which has a bit of racism in it, although I doubt it's intentional on your behalf.
That said the interest rates were lowered during the Bush administration, specifically on June 17 2002 when bush announced this plan, and 2003 when Greenspan lowered interest rates to 1%.
@Derekrife1 There is no racism involved. Just simple statistical FACTS. Lower interest rates did not cause the housing problem. Government involvement in the housing market caused the problem. It ALWAYS screws up the free market. Sub-prime lending is, by definition, lending money to people who have a higher risk of default. FANNY and FREDDY are government run and funding lenders and they did sub-prime lending.
@CommonSenseJoe Banks are not intimidated by the Government. Trust me on this... I dont get why its such a bitter pill to swallow. Deregulation was/is the problem !! Poor uneducated people should be blamed? Not those that knew better but did it anyway because nobody was looking. The Government should have stepped in and said "NO". We are all ignorant outside of our chosen field of study. If Im a brick-layer then that is what i know. The bankers did what they did. there should be no excuses.
@cottonrun1 Trust me on this. You are as wrong as you can be. Banks can be closed down by the government. Even the suggestion of an investigation can cause bank to fail. The problem is not deregulation or under-regulation. Have you ever closed on a mortgage? 99% of all those documents you sign are MANDATED by the government. Yes, I blame the "poor uneducated people". If you don't understand the document, DON"T SIGN IT. You cannot sell me on that excuse. Ignorance is no excuse.
@CommonSenseJoe Banks will NEVER be closed down by the Govenment. The last President to attempt this was shot. We could go round and round but the main differance between us is the role of the Govenment in American society... Right-Wingers want to "shrink government down to a size so small that it could drown in a bathtub" and Left-Wingers believe that a democratic vote is the only say they will have in the governance of their own lives... what are your thoughts on this?
@CommonSenseJoe When Im sick, I go and see a doctor. I trust his judgement and expertise in his chosen field. If I have a desire to own a home Im going to go see a morgage-lender. His advice, as an expert in his chosen field, will be relyed on. Mid-term elections traditionally have a low turnout. Obama is going to be re-elected and more likely than not... the Republicans are going to lose the HOUSE. You must understand that good, hard working people are tired of being fucked-over.
@cottonrun1 If you blindly accept your doctor or your banker, then you are the fool, not them. If you think President Obama wants to help the poor, you are even more a fool. He has lied so many times, no one counts them anymore. It is the government the screws people, not capitalism and not the free market. Good, hard working people are tired of their money going to subsidize the lazy and stupid people of this country. 99 weeks of unemployment? Can't find a job in two years?
@Phlegmatic010101 Oh, but that's why you're here watching this video. Because you know obama's failed policies are exactly the same as that other one term failure, Carter.
LOL
Are you here to learn what to say when obama is thrown out for the same exact reasons?
@AzFUCKHEAD No, not there. I am here. Learn the difference.
Reagan fucked this country over by tripling the debt, illegally selling arms to Iran to fund an illegal war in Nicaragua, crippling the economy with unemployment (it was higher in 1984 than it is now when he ran for reelection) and using a teleprompter.
@Phlegmatic010101 Except like i stated, my "coal burning fact check engine" is the BLS.
After being proven wrong, all you can do is pronounce yourself a "winner" and call names?
And since you're so cavalier about declaring that reagan caused uneployment (ignoring he was also fighting inflation), it stands to reason that you must then credit him and Hw bush making it eventually fall to 5%.
@Phlegmatic010101 No,it was you who cited 1984, wrongly. And I don't appear to be "destroyed" as I'm still sitting here, laughing while typing. What next? are you going to threaten me or something? Your Reagan arguments, of course, lack any sort of context.
And I understand that I have been proven wrong beyond *your* belief, but then again a perverse belief is all you have. The Truth is on the side of the Reaganites.
@AzBirdDog I suggest you look up the definition of a recession, which is when the net total of jobs goes down month by month. If you look at the official white house statistics, the recession ended half way through 2009 with unemployment capping somewhere around 10%. Since then Job creation has increased month by month since, and is now at 8.5%. The growth is slow, but it is increasing. Last months jobs statistics have us creating jobs at the fastest rate since 2006 before the hosing bubble.
@AzDIPSHIT Of course I'm wrong. Because you said so. You're such an expert.
Oooh, you said I should stop using drugs. A junior high school debater stopped using that lame line some ten years ago.
Pay attention to fact and reality. REAGAN FUCKED OUR COUNTRY OVER WITH CRAP ECONOMIC AND WORSE FOREIGN POLICY. If he wasn't lucky about Gorbachev's policies of Perestroika and Glastnost, you'd be sucking Latvian cock, comrade.
I provided proof. You? Not so much. Not a single URL.
@Phlegmatic010101 Oh that's so much proof! Your words on youtube provide proof that Reagan was so much harm THAT OUR COUNTRY WAS ON TOP BACK THEN.
And now?
We're all waiting until your obamie gets booted out of the white house before he kicks all of our jobs out of the country. Obamie has turned this once great country UNDER REAGAN, There were jobs everywhere, And Obamie has turned it into a welfare state.
Why even the younger generation has taken to the streets DEMANDING FREE LIVING. lol
@Phlegmatic010101 We're so much better off now! In the eye's of the occupyers, we should all be getting everything for free from the government!
Our country should be based in socialism, that's where Obamie is taking us. Look at Obamies book. What do you read, a dream of a socialist america. lol
Oh I see where you're going! We have it better today!!! Unemployment percentage is the highest since the great depression! Millions losing their homes from a housing bubble created by democrats!
@Phlegmatic010101 Give it up. You lost the arguement. Hey dildo, I have a NEWS FLASH for ya!
The Reagan Years were from 1981 to 1989. And Reagan had just inherited Carters rotten Presidency. Pretty funny, huh? Why do you think that Carter was a 1 termer?
Because our country was at a stand still, DUMBASS!
That's right, keep trying to shovel Carters failures onto Reagan. It doesn't stick.
That's why Carter was sent packing his bag of failures!
@AzSHITforBRAINS What is an "arguement"? Watching you trailer park morons is magnificent.
So you're telling us that Reagan inherited shit from Carter and we should give him a break for the 10.8% unemployment in 1982. But the 8.5% (and falling) unemployment under Obama is something to blame him for instead of SHRUBYA.
This is just what anyone should expect from you moron GOP types.
Back to your trailer. Beat your wife. You have so much to be proud of in your Red State, huh?
@Phlegmatic010101 Wong again, troll. You democrats are here with your facts all wrong. And the 2nd reason you guys watch this vid is to see how obamie is goibg to be bitch slapped in the next elections. LOL
Same failure policies as carter, one is white, the other is black. That's the only differance.
And no, I don't have a wife, I don't live in a trailor. That's your life, not mine.
Now tell us the real numbers on unemployment under obama. LOL
@Phlegmatic010101 Your right about the fact that unemployment was at 10.8% in 1982 but that was because Mr. Reagan was in the middle of cleaning up Carter's double digit recession. 2 years later, Reagan more than doubled revenue in America and put 11 million unemployed workers back to work you Fucktard ! Liberalism is responsible for the mess we are in you dumb ass Troll!
Your comments are also pretty badly composed... no doubt the result of your trailer park education at the end of a gravel road. Every one of you Red State folks is a treat to see post comments. It's like they're in purple crayon.
Did you finish a six pack and beat your wife last night? What a crap existence you fools have.
@Derekrife1 You're right. Obamie hasn't done ANYTHING that would benefit the working people.
So far all's that he has done is to do his best to prolong these troubled times.
Under Obamie, nothing has been created in the way of jobs, pay increases can't be given because he gave the trillion dollar bailout to THE WRONG PEOPLE!
And if he did raise minimum wage, he would have been ripped out of office by his own administration!
@AzBirdDog Once again, the bailout did not happen underneath Obama, because he wasn't president in 08, TARP was Bush. It's like non of you GOP morons seem to understand that he was inaugurated in 09.
Also if you think raising the minimum wage would lower his approval ratings then you're a moron of the highest degree. People want more money. I would love to see the GOP approval ratings if they tried to block a minimum wage increase.
@ensignbay The minimum wage is at what? $8 an hour? Your argument is absurd. If people would just work for nothing than we could all have a job ! For you to attempt to equate the economic downturn of '07/'08 with the minimum wage raise is dangerously stupid !! It wasnt even a factor... A 55 cent hike in the minimum wage brought the American financial system to its knees Really!?
@JimBowie1133 Go pick up an economics text book. Minimum wage basically causes unemployment to those people who's productivity is less than the minimum wage. Usually the poor people.
@Salford999Red , You say minimum wage may cause unemployment for those people 'whose' productivity is less than the minimum wage. If this is so by who and how is this determined. If a man washes dishes for $6 an hour and the minimum wage is raised to $6.50. By what scale do you measure if his productivity is less than the minimum wage? Furthermore,If the choice being offered is between unemployment and unlivable wages then we are in some serious trouble.
@JimBowie1133 It is determined by the employer. If the employer deems your productivty results in say $10 of revenue for him, he will pay you $8 and keep $2 for the business. So basically employers decide what your productivity is worth.
As for the second question, why do you think wages are becoming unlivable these days? A few hints: Taxes & fees, compliance costs to meet increasing regulations redirect money to be wasted by govt instead of going towards wages. And then you have inflation.
@JimBowie1133 i've never made minimum wage in my life so i've never worried about it., but i did used to mow the lawn for grandpa for 2 dollars, i promise you my granda would have done it himself if the goverment forced him to pay me 8 with benefits! LOL
@derivativesarecool if you have taken it then you should know that minimum wage in itself is not the cause of unemployment. There are many other factors. During this recession the lost jobs were NOT minimum wage jobs. That unchallenged assumption is just another way to scapegoat the poor. The 2008 recession can be traced to the collapse of the housing market.
Reagan exchanged his meger acting skills for power ! He convinced many that a Representavite Government was/is the enemy of the American citizen. Education is bad. The EPA is bad. The ACLU is bad. Unions are bad. Whenever citizens stand up for themselves they must hate this country. Fuck Reagan !! He was a faud !!
@cottonrun1 Can you prove what you said. He fired public union workers who actually work for the tax payers(Air Traffic Control), can you cite where he tried to destroy private Unions...because I believe the Unions are more powerful. Education? Now where did Reagan speak out against Education? "Whenever citizens stand up for themselves they must hate this country." Well I guess you're a proud of the Tea Party..if I can rely on that statement of yours.
@norr4636 Oh..FDR was against public Unions collective bargaining....How can Public Unions work against themsleves...remember Public Unions work for the tax payers not a private company.....
@norr4636 My main gripe, is with "supply-side economics"(aka. Reagan economics or Voodo economics). This is the Idea that businesses should be given our money without competing for it. The Boston Tea party of the 1700's was a reponse to the King giving the East India Co. a huge tax break(duty-free transport world wide). This threatened to put local proprietors out of business... We need honest discussion as Americans. The modern " tea party" folks are TORIES in disguise !!
@cottonrun1 Remeber FICA is the only funding mechanism for fund Social Security....Why would President Obama defund S.S. with a payroll tax cut...which it's not a tax its a contribution towards retirement. Oh..I respect your views...I as a black conservative(former liberal) young tea party member who want the government to stay out of the business of picking winners and losers
@norr4636 SNN was never meant to be the anyones only source of retirement funds. It was only meant to keep one from(after a life of service and work) having to be homeless in their twighlight years. Minimal protection should not be looked on threat to this country's stability. Everyone pays into it from the second they begin to work. Its not an Entitlement... it is earned and worked for thoughout your life.
@cottonrun1 Wrong. The Tea Party wants a simple tax code that favors NO ONE. Since the inception of taxes (esp the income taxes) liberals use the tax code to pick winners and losers. That should be ended. Everyone who make $68,324.33 should pay THE EXACT SAME TAX. And that tax should be low. Look into the Fair Tax and read the book on it. It is a good system.
@cottonrun1 Ok..let's have a dialogue....Reagan tax cuts....went from 72% to 50% from 1981-1986...than it was reduced from 50% to 28% to top marginal rate.....Now we know Reagan agreed with what Jack Kennedy when he cut the top rate from 92% to 72%..now Liberals never mention Kennedy was the modern day supply sider. Now back to Reagan...he never touch FICA...he actually funded social secuity by going up on the tax..unlike Obama who is cutting social security with the contribution rate cut.
@norr4636 Kennedy was correct... the rate was too high but Reagan sought to bring it too low. SSN has nothing to do with the debt and is self-sustaining if left alone. Its unfortunate that if you go left or if you go right that you will be caught in a catch-22. Reagan had a Dem. controlled House a Senate. Obama(far from a dictator) has been pushed into relms dictated to him by the political climate. As all Presidents have been.
@cottonrun1 Social Security IS DEFINITELY NOT SELF-SUSTAINING!!! Are you high. I disagree with norr4636 that payroll tax is a contribution, no it is a tax as it has been used to fund the general budget since CARTER made it so. Social Security will be completely brokeby 2025-2028. EPIC FAIL.
@svvmichael1 I said "Social Security is self-sustaining" "If left alone". That is a true statement. The program has run surpluses since its creation. The problem is that the government has used these surpluses or raided them for decades, leaving only IOUs. 2075 is your disaster date, by the way. Dont correct me incorrectly Demigod.
@cottonrun1 The disaster date is 2028 fool. That has been published in a big way. You lose. Soc Sec is a failed ponzi scheme. Reagan saved it in the early 80's but it is still a stupid/unconstitutional program with poor planning. It was great when the avg life was 60 yrs, and there were 40 workers per retiree. Not so good with avg life at 78 and 2.7 workers per retiree. My understanding of both economics and history is FAR superior to yours. I'll compare credentials with you any day
@norr4636 Again, If people dont have the money to buy things... Why give businesses more money to produce more goods that people cant buy? The Idea behind Suppy-side economics is absurd. It only makes sense if there is a scam afoot.
@cottonrun1 The idea is that a higher demand for products results in a higher demand for employment to make these products. This would give these people, formerly unemployed, an income to spend on products (which they couldn't do without a job). Does that not make sense?
@TheCymbiont lol... it does make sense. You are describing a consumer based economy. That is what im talking about. Im making the claim that Reagan's policies took money out of the hands of the consumer and gave it to those that supply goods. This was no help to the average citizen or local businesses. Small business was at its zenith in the 50's and 60's and took a huge nose-dive in the 80's. Does that not make sense?
@cottonrun1 You are an idiot. Reagan's policies put more money into the hands of consumers and suppliers. Guess what, suppliers are also consumers. Reagan had GDP growth at 5-7.4%, the highest we've seen in decades. Reagan allowed the economy to create 20+ million jobs. You feel good lying on youtube?
@svvmichael1 "Entirely spurious and dangerous to say this to the people". What was the GDP growth during the 50's and 60's? What policies were in place during the largestest economic boon in world history? A little less name calling and a bit more honesty might help here.
@cottonrun1 We had wars in the 50's and 60's that contributed to those GDPs, which were only slightly higher than the '83-'89 years. Reagan took over an economy that had 13.7% unemployment, 13.5% inflation, 20% interest rates, and -1.7% GDP loss. He got it to 4.7% unemployment, avg 3.4% inflation, 7% interest rates, and up to 7.4% GDP growth. You are an idiot. I have crushed you again. Small businesses took off in the '80s you idiot. Bye fool.
@cottonrun1 I'm a hero in several people's minds. My kids, people I served with as a Naval Officer, my wife, etc...lot of people. You, however, are probably a friendless douche.
@svvmichael1 the wars in the 50's (korean) and 60's/70's (vietnam) were stalemates. They only created a drag on our economy. The Vietnam war in particular was devastating to our country as it lasted 12 yrs or so. Even if we had won there was little wealth or booty to infuse our economy with. It was a strategic war fought with Russia in mind. Do you dispute this claim?
@svvmichael1 I DO know dipshit. You were missing the point. I also know you cant have a real dialougue with someone because you know you would be taken to the cleaners. I didnt mention the GDP(fyi) but was going to get to it. I made a statement and asked if you disputed it... I know kids that can follow a conversation better than you. Sit in your little bubble. Moron!
@cottonrun1 You are getting crushed by EVERYONE here. You need to go to the liberal videos where the populace their is ignorant enought to think you are of average intelligence. On this page it is obvious you are mentally challenged. You don't understand economics, history, business. A true liberal, opinion without knowledge.
@svvmichael1 Are you still talking to me bubble-boy? I havent been crushed by ANYONE... I guess David Stockman doesnt know anything about economics or business either. You must be the smartest man alive!! Mike in his bubble... or is it a closet.
@svvmichael1 You keep saying how Im "dumb","an idiot" and" friendless douche" but never explain yourself in a thoughtful well informed manner. You claim to have suprior knowledge but never engage in a real discussion. Weak !! I think you are full of shit Mike. Im done with you... Go ahead have the last word. I know you need it. Let me guess.."idiot" "dumb" blah blah blah
@cottonrun1 You have yet to have even one post that was truthful, or not filled with absolute lies. You border on being a habitual liar. I'd discuss with you, but there is no issue you've treated with any intellectual honesty.
@svvmichael1 What you call "lies" might be merly misconceptions. It may also be true that you yourself are operating under misconceptions. That is the point of debate. Debate is the cornerstone of our political system. Ad hominem attacks are designed to shut down discussion and have often lead to bloodshed historically. In the future, feel free to share your knowledge and personal beliefs but also allow for others to do the same. You may teach AND learn at the same time. God Bless
@cottonrun1 Ha, good reply. I wasn't saying that I agree with it being the solution. I do realize the more-average citizens get walked over by big companies - which got terribly sugarcoated by saying "the economy is doing better" and "the inflation is decreasing". Theoretically I believe it could have worked though, if the ridiculous excess of money earned by companies would go back to the lower-income people. Believing that would actually happen is like asking for trouble.
Reagan is the "poster-boy" for the greatest swindle in American history. "The only voice you have as a citizen, the government, is not to be trusted." "Our founding fathers wanted you to give up your voice." "Give us your money and will take care of you." "It will trickle back down." "We promise." ... Fuck Reagan !! He was a faud!!
War has a devastating effect on an economy, even if you win. Carter inherited the aftermath of a 14 yr long war. Reagan took full advantage as an ideologue and demigod... Boiled to the bone(Reagan's argument is) - "Consumers cant decide which products or businesses they prefer. The less money citizens have to spend the better business will do. And its great for our country." The transfer of wealth from the consumer to established acts is nothing more than theft. Fuck Reagan !! He was a fraud !
@Cadiville95 And BTW. Ron Paul talks NOTHING like Reagan did. Ron Paul would have called Reagan a War Monger for the military build up that Reagan did. Ron Paul is just a LIBERAL in disguise.
Where are the Reagans and the Thatchers today as we need them like never before.

Ronald Reagan was an actor, that is all, he was dishonest, he raised taxes on the middle class when he said he would not, Carter was not a good President but he had way more integrity and honesty than Reagan ever did.

The man if full it, Did he say minimum wage is the cause of unemployment???
JimBowie1133 1 week ago
@JimBowie1133 Yes, the minimum wage does RAISE unemployment. If you own a business, and the government increases what you pay employees, but your sales are the same, you have to employ fewer people. Period.
Latest example, unemployment didn't begin increasing until 2007 when Congress passed a new minimum wage. They did it again in 2008 and unemployment increased even more.
ensignbay 1 week ago 12
@ensignbay . Obviously that alone is not the cause or can be proven even to be of the major causes considering the considerable waste elsewhere in gov't spending. Unemployment began increasing in 2007 after the housing bubble blew up and the banks were in collapse and the economy fell...to say it was because of a 75 cent increase in minimum wage is ridiculous.
JimBowie1133 1 week ago
@JimBowie1133 Then show the proof.
warfossil 1 week ago
@warfossil , Well, if you look at the areas of the market which were hit with the most unemployment around 2007 you'll see that the jobs lost were not minimum wage paying jobs, they were jobs in the manufacturing (lumber and construction), factory, real estate, credit agencies, and auto - this began during the housing crisis as you can see those industries are directly related to the housing market. This was before the minimum wage increase.
JimBowie1133 1 week ago
@ensignbay Nations in Europe are looking to Germany to help them now. Germany had a deeper dip economically than the U.S. but recovered very quickly.
Derekrife1 6 days ago
@Derekrife1 Sorry to slap you back to reality, But I really don't know of many people getting raises and jobs for the last couple of years.
You just commented, "The more money is spent, the more goods and services are bought, the more jobs it creates."
The more money being spent is being done by the government. It sure as hell isn't us.
Good and services have dropped in sales..hint hint. And um, What is unemployment at right now? LOL
Obamie just asked to raise the debt ceiling again! LOL
AzBirdDog 5 days ago
@AzBirdDog Sorry to smack YOU with some facts, but minimum wage has NOT increased underneath the Obama administration, and if adjusted for inflation, we're actually making 3 dollars less than what we made when minimum wage was first implemented.
I love how you conservatives can only argue with us by tieing our philosophy to Obama even though Obama has only been implementing the cuts you guys love so much.
Derekrife1 5 days ago
@AzBirdDog Also on the subject of the debt ceiling increase, I suggest you go look at the deficits Reagan ran up in the 80s. The plague of government spending originated in his presidency the same way the current deficit was created by Bush. Increasing defense spending while lowering taxes creates a big hole in the budget, and we end up borrowing from other countries to fix it.
Derekrife1 5 days ago
@Derekrife1 The debt ceiling went higher BUT WE WERE ALL WORKING!

AzBirdDog 5 days ago
@AzBirdDog You're completely full of shit on both of those accounts. The housing crisis was specifically created by Bush. During the 04 campaign he toted the low interest rates as a reason minorities should vote for him since they could now buy homes. That was his strategy. The wall street collapse happened again, under Bush, and TARP was passed in the weeks after Obama won the election, but before he was inaugurated, the spending triggers happened after he got into office. Go look it up.

Oh, but you already know this, i'm sure.

AzBirdDog 4 days ago
@AzBirdDog The clinton did not "force" banks to take risky loans. They de-regulated the banks by passing the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act, a Republican bill as evidenced being named after three Republican congressmen. This did not contribute to the housing bubble though. The housing bubble was created by Bush by having interest rates lowered in the housing market so poor people could buy homes despite not being able to afford them.
You're so dumb. Had fun kicking your dumb ass.

@Derekrife1 Barney Frank and Cris Dodd lowered those rates and regulated banks to give those loans. it's time to stop putting all the blame on Bush, who i couldn't stand by the way. he was a fiscal socialist, and an open borders moron / big spender. but Liberalism has almost destroyed our country and if we had Ronald Reagan back in the white house, we wouldn't be in the mess were in !
usaSAVAGE 3 days ago
@usaSAVAGE Barney Frank was the ranking Democrat of the Financial services comitee in 2003. Not sure if you remember, but the Democrats were in the minority until 2006 moron, and if you read Frank's testimonies, he advocated against lowering the interest rates and pushed to put priorities on Rental housing, which didn't fit with Bush's agenda to create homes for low income earners. Even then they were only senators, only the president can take action to pass legislation.
Read a book.
Derekrife1 3 days ago 4
@Derekrife1 Republicans deregulated the banks by passing regulations like the Gramm-Leav-Bliley Act? Clinton could have vetoed it. Carter signed DIDMCA, Reagan signed Garn-St.Germain Act, HW Bush signed S&L Bailout..all after passing thru a Democrat Congress. The President doesn't control the interest rates, the Fed does. The Fed is also a form of regulation. Regulation, not deregulation, was the problem by creating a moral hazard.
You're so dumb. Had fun kicking your dumb ass.
ACDC7369 3 days ago
@ACDC7369 I actually agree with you, and I'm not a fan of Clinton or the Democrats, mostly because they side with republican ideas. The Fed is a tool which can regulate, I aree but the federal reserve is beholden to the President since he/she appoints the Chairman. The previous chairman was Alan Greenspan, a known associate of Ayn Rand, deeply influenced by her philosophy of Objectivism. To argue that we were Regulated into this recession doesn't hold water.
Derekrife1 2 days ago
@Derekrife1 Greenspan also used to be in favor of free banking. He abandoned his support for that as well as his Objectivist ideas long ago when he became chairman of the Fed. He is living proof that even the wisest of men can be corrupted by the levers of power. Regulations, like the ones I listed, created the moral hazard that caused the banking system to collapse.
ACDC7369 2 days ago
@Derekrife1 i agree with most of your comments. however, it is easy to blame bush but the housing bubble actually started with Clinton administration and their focus to get everyone (even those with bad credit)an opportunity for home ownership. Republicans just removed regulation. Both were wrong but as usual the democratic party is just not smart financially or do they run the country from a business standpoint. The idea of allowing everyone to own a house is idealistic but not realistic.
mamadoenut 2 days ago
@mamadoenut Certainly, and I don't like the Democrats, everyone seems to think that. I don't like Obama, his regulations are total weak-sauce and don't accomplish anything significant, which is probably due to the influence of Tim Geithner who I despise. That said to blame him for the recession, bailout, or housing bubble as others have is simply ridiculous when he wasn't even in office then. That's my only contention I really have with AZbirddog, his convenient rewriting of history.
Derekrife1 2 days ago
@Derekrife1 There's enough blame to go around, but one can't deny the role that the Community reinvestment act of 1977 played as the interest rates and other factors played out to create the perfect storm for the Real Estate market.
Dr3wBrN3r 2 days ago
@Derekrife1 you're a fucking moron the reason we're in a recession is because of the repeal of Glass-Stegall which was what kept investment banks and commercial banks seperate. While the republicans agreed with it, it was Clinton's idea and hes said many times he wanted everyone to be home owners forcing banks to give loans to people with bad credit history. Think about it for the 70 years Stegall was in place there was never a major crisis, then when its repealed our economy crashes
letsgetstuy 2 days ago
@letsgetstuy I invite you to re-read my post in which I recite the name of the bill which repealed Glass-Stegall. Gramm–Leach–Bliley, the bill is named after the people who wrote proposed, and sponsored it, similar to how Frank-Dodd is named after Barney Frank, who introduced it, and Chris Dodd, who watered it down so that it doesn't touch derivatives.
The Bill was not proposed by Clinton or any Democrat, although they certainly should be held accountable for passing shitty Republican ideas.
Derekrife1 2 days ago
@Derekrife1 You are wrong. The Clinton Justice department DID intimate banks into making loans to folks who could not pay them back. They were told that if they did not do more minority lending they would be SUED by the federal government. Even FREDDY and FANNY made sub-prime loans. You cannot blame the bubble on just Republicans. You have to blame THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT as whole for screwing with the free market.
CommonSenseJoe 1 day ago
@CommonSenseJoe Yes, and no. They did tell them to stop discriminating against minorities, but they didn't tell them to lower interest rates for them. You're making an argument which has a bit of racism in it, although I doubt it's intentional on your behalf.
That said the interest rates were lowered during the Bush administration, specifically on June 17 2002 when bush announced this plan, and 2003 when Greenspan lowered interest rates to 1%.
Derekrife1 1 day ago
@Derekrife1 There is no racism involved. Just simple statistical FACTS. Lower interest rates did not cause the housing problem. Government involvement in the housing market caused the problem. It ALWAYS screws up the free market. Sub-prime lending is, by definition, lending money to people who have a higher risk of default. FANNY and FREDDY are government run and funding lenders and they did sub-prime lending.
CommonSenseJoe 7 hours ago
@CommonSenseJoe Banks are not intimidated by the Government. Trust me on this... I dont get why its such a bitter pill to swallow. Deregulation was/is the problem !! Poor uneducated people should be blamed? Not those that knew better but did it anyway because nobody was looking. The Government should have stepped in and said "NO". We are all ignorant outside of our chosen field of study. If Im a brick-layer then that is what i know. The bankers did what they did. there should be no excuses.
cottonrun1 19 hours ago
@cottonrun1 Trust me on this. You are as wrong as you can be. Banks can be closed down by the government. Even the suggestion of an investigation can cause bank to fail. The problem is not deregulation or under-regulation. Have you ever closed on a mortgage? 99% of all those documents you sign are MANDATED by the government. Yes, I blame the "poor uneducated people". If you don't understand the document, DON"T SIGN IT. You cannot sell me on that excuse. Ignorance is no excuse.
CommonSenseJoe 4 hours ago
@CommonSenseJoe Banks will NEVER be closed down by the Govenment. The last President to attempt this was shot. We could go round and round but the main differance between us is the role of the Govenment in American society... Right-Wingers want to "shrink government down to a size so small that it could drown in a bathtub" and Left-Wingers believe that a democratic vote is the only say they will have in the governance of their own lives... what are your thoughts on this?
cottonrun1 22 minutes ago
@CommonSenseJoe When Im sick, I go and see a doctor. I trust his judgement and expertise in his chosen field. If I have a desire to own a home Im going to go see a morgage-lender. Are you here to learn what to say when obama is thrown out for the same exact reasons?
I'd have to think so.

Now go home and get your shinebox.

@johnsonfromwisconsin Wow, you are a serious fuckhead. 10.8% in 1982.

I doubt you could embrace such consistency.

AzBirdDog 5 days ago
@AzBirdDog I suggest you look up the definition of a recession, which is when the net total of jobs goes down month by month. If you look at the official white house statistics, the recession ended half way through 2009 with unemployment capping somewhere around 10%. Since then Job creation has increased month by month since, and is now at 8.5%. The growth is slow, but it is increasing. Last months jobs statistics have us creating jobs at the fastest rate since 2006 before the hosing bubble.

@Derekrife1 You're right. Obamie hasn't done ANYTHING that would benefit the working people.
So far all's that he has done is to do his best to prolong these troubled times.

And if he did raise minimum wage, he would have been ripped out of office by his own administration!

A 55 cent hike in the minimum wage brought the American financial system to its knees Really!?
cottonrun1 5 days ago 2
@JimBowie1133 Go pick up an economics text book. Minimum wage basically causes unemployment to those people who's productivity is less than the minimum wage. Usually the poor people.
Salford999Red 1 week ago
@Salford999Red , You say minimum wage may cause unemployment for those people 'whose' productivity is less than the minimum wage. If this is so by who and how is this determined. If a man washes dishes for $6 an hour and the minimum wage is raised to $6.50. By what scale do you measure if his productivity is less than the minimum wage? Furthermore,If the choice being offered is between unemployment and unlivable wages then we are in some serious trouble.
JimBowie1133 1 week ago
@JimBowie1133 It is determined by the employer. If the employer deems your productivty results in say $10 of revenue for him, he will pay you $8 and keep $2 for the business. So basically employers decide what your productivity is worth.
As for the second question, why do you think wages are becoming unlivable these days? A few hints: Taxes & fees, compliance costs to meet increasing regulations redirect money to be wasted by govt instead of going towards wages. And then you have inflation.
Salford999Red 5 days ago
@JimBowie1133 i've never made minimum wage in my life so i've never worried about it., but i did used to mow the lawn for grandpa for 2 dollars, i promise you my granda would have done it himself if the goverment forced him to pay me 8 with benefits! LOL

derivativesarecool 1 week ago
@derivativesarecool if you have taken it then you should know that minimum wage in itself is not the cause of unemployment. There are many other factors. During this recession the lost jobs were NOT minimum wage jobs. That unchallenged assumption is just another way to scapegoat the poor. The 2008 recession can be traced to the collapse of the housing market.

cottonrun1 2 weeks ago
@cottonrun1 Can you prove what you said. He fired public union workers who actually work for the tax payers(Air Traffic Control), can you cite where he tried to destroy private Unions...because I believe the Unions are more powerful. Education? Now where did Reagan speak out against Education? "Whenever citizens stand up for themselves they must hate this country." Well I guess you're a proud of the Tea Party..if I can rely on that statement of yours.

@norr4636 Oh..FDR was against public Unions collective bargaining....How can Public Unions work against themsleves...remember Public Unions work for the tax payers not a private company.....
norr4636 2 weeks ago
@norr4636 My main gripe, is with "supply-side economics"(aka. Reagan economics or Voodo economics). This is the Idea that businesses should be given our money without competing for it. The Boston Tea party of the 1700's was a reponse to the King giving the East India Co. a huge tax break(duty-free transport world wide). This threatened to put local proprietors out of business... We need honest discussion as Americans. The modern " tea party" folks are TORIES in disguise !!
cottonrun1 2 weeks ago
@cottonrun1 Remeber FICA is the only funding mechanism for fund Social Security....Why would President Obama defund S.S. with a payroll tax cut...which it's not a tax its a contribution towards retirement. Oh..I respect your views...I as a black conservative(former liberal) young tea party member who want the government to stay out of the business of picking winners and losers
norr4636 2 weeks ago
@norr4636 SNN was never meant to be the anyones only source of retirement funds. It was only meant to keep one from(after a life of service and work) having to be homeless in their twighlight years. Minimal protection should not be looked on threat to this country's stability. Everyone pays into it from the second they begin to work. Its not an Entitlement... it is earned and worked for thoughout your life.

svvmichael1 1 week ago
@svvmichael1 Its your "basic" understanding of economics and U.S. History that has allowed you be so easily swayed.
cottonrun1 1 week ago
@cottonrun1 Wrong. The Tea Party wants a simple tax code that favors NO ONE. Since the inception of taxes (esp the income taxes) liberals use the tax code to pick winners and losers. That should be ended. Everyone who make $68,324.33 should pay THE EXACT SAME TAX. And that tax should be low. Look into the Fair Tax and read the book on it. It is a good system.
svvmichael1 1 week ago
@cottonrun1 Ok..let's have a dialogue....Reagan tax cuts....went from 72% to 50% from 1981-1986...than it was reduced from 50% to 28% to top marginal rate.....Now we know Reagan agreed with what Jack Kennedy when he cut the top rate from 92% to 72%..now Liberals never mention Kennedy was the modern day supply sider. Now back to Reagan...he never touch FICA...he actually funded social secuity by going up on the tax..unlike Obama who is cutting social security with the contribution rate cut.
norr4636 2 weeks ago
@norr4636 Kennedy was correct... the rate was too high but Reagan sought to bring it too low. SSN has nothing to do with the debt and is self-sustaining if left alone. Its unfortunate that if you go left or if you go right that you will be caught in a catch-22. Reagan had a Dem. controlled House a Senate. Obama(far from a dictator) has been pushed into relms dictated to him by the political climate. As all Presidents have been.
cottonrun1 2 weeks ago
@cottonrun1 Social Security IS DEFINITELY NOT SELF-SUSTAINING!!! Are you high. I disagree with norr4636 that payroll tax is a contribution, no it is a tax as it has been used to fund the general budget since CARTER made it so. Social Security will be completely brokeby 2025-2028. EPIC FAIL.
svvmichael1 1 week ago
@svvmichael1 I said "Social Security is self-sustaining" "If left alone". That is a true statement. The program has run surpluses since its creation. The problem is that the government has used these surpluses or raided them for decades, leaving only IOUs. 2075 is your disaster date, by the way. Dont correct me incorrectly Demigod.
cottonrun1 1 week ago

It only makes sense if there is a scam afoot.
cottonrun1 2 weeks ago
@cottonrun1 The idea is that a higher demand for products results in a higher demand for employment to make these products. This would give these people, formerly unemployed, an income to spend on products (which they couldn't do without a job). Does that not make sense?
TheCymbiont 1 week ago
@TheCymbiont lol... it does make sense. You are describing a consumer based economy. That is what im talking about. Im making the claim that Reagan's policies took money out of the hands of the consumer and gave it to those that supply goods. This was no help to the average citizen or local businesses. Small business was at its zenith in the 50's and 60's and took a huge nose-dive in the 80's. Does that not make sense?
cottonrun1 1 week ago
@cottonrun1 You are an idiot. Reagan's policies put more money into the hands of consumers and suppliers. Guess what, suppliers are also consumers. Reagan had GDP growth at 5-7.4%, the highest we've seen in decades. Reagan allowed the economy to create 20+ million jobs. You feel good lying on youtube?
svvmichael1 1 week ago
@svvmichael1 "Entirely spurious and dangerous to say this to the people". What was the GDP growth during the 50's and 60's? What policies were in place during the largestest economic boon in world history? A little less name calling and a bit more honesty might help here.
cottonrun1 1 week ago
@cottonrun1 We had wars in the 50's and 60's that contributed to those GDPs, which were only slightly higher than the '83-'89 years. Reagan took over an economy that had 13.7% unemployment, 13.5% inflation, 20% interest rates, and -1.7% GDP loss. He got it to 4.7% unemployment, avg 3.4% inflation, 7% interest rates, and up to 7.4% GDP growth. You are an idiot. I have crushed you again. Small businesses took off in the '80s you idiot.
