  • another nice example you're riding in there Mr Pant (or is it the same one?)

  • crikey, you must've owned some dogs, I had a one owner '72 gt in yellow (Giallo Fly to the purist)....yes, costly for sure, repairs over 10Kmiles was £5000 (£60 for a set of big end bolts made me wince a bit). There was never a rust problem with it...but I've also had small helicopters and wowee, that's nothing compared to them (if you buy them wrong that is)...and the amazement of riding in either is comparable.

  • You have no idea!!!! They rust like s--t! always going wrong! extremely expensive parts no bloody reason!! and the engine is stamped FIAT!!!, and they embarass the hell out of you when the dam things wont start. Ive been lucky enough to own 5 246s (3x246 and 2x246GTS) the 246GTS in another thing! chassis moves (due to having the roof cut off!) and when the roof is in place its squeaks like hell, and let the rain in.! (I must be raving mad! but I still love my Dino!! ( Roger. Ferraridinoman.)

  • it may be slow but with looks that can tame the wildest of animals and a sound to melt your ears..who cares

  • I really love the sound of these cars.

  • The greatest looking car in the world.

  • I agree. But then if you look closely you see lots of curves that resemble those on women, which is the ultimate beauty for most men. :-)

  • I'd love to risk my licence on that gorgeous car!! Could you tell me what engine it has? Thanks

  • It has a four cam 2.4 liter V6. Redline 7800rpm.

  • Yesterday I was at a Ferrari garage (by chance, the owner is the friend of a friend). And he had a 246 in near perfect condition on the tail lift. Again, what a lovely car.

  • Thanks, yes they are VERY beautiful cars.

  • Where was this filmed? It looks like California, around the Augora Hills area.

  • Yes, this was in California. There are probably 1000 places in CA it could be.

  • The engine compartment cover looks different compared to my car. Did you change something to the engine that required a change to the cover?

  • The induction system was changed to one from a Lancia Stratos (which used the same engine) in Italy before it was imported to the US. It uses IDF carbs instead of the DCNF in the stock Dino. Since they are taller a custom engine cover and air box were made which have the added benefit of letting more induction noise into the cabin.

  • This car is sooo underrated. Awesome look, great sound - I can understand why you don't want to sell it (just like me with my Seven).

  • Sevens must be incredibly fast-- too bad I'm too tall to fit in one.

  • The "speed profile" of a Seven is very different to most other cars. They lack topspeed due to aerodynamic drag (mine goes ~135 mph) but because of their lightness their cornering, accelerating and braking are phenomenal.

  • Sound good alright, My God it sounds like sex on wheels!

  • I can't imagine ever selling this car. The sound is so wonderful!

  • Wheres my windscreen wiper!?

  • 40 y.o. ......unbelievable!

Could you post a short history of this car? Was it an official car? Thx!

  • Indigoblue555,

When you say "this car," do you mean the particular example I have or the 246 GT car type?

  • To Pantdino - Sorry, my question was adressed to a 206 protoytpe 1967 swedish owner (You surely have seen his post)-

Something didn't work and I sent my questions to you! Pls excuse me and have fun with your finest car (a Pininfarina masterpiece after the look of the 206/P3/P4 of the late 60es)-Still amazing=

  • God I love the 246, it had the looks, sounded great and wasn't that hard to drive (than let's say a Daytona). And it's a car with a story!

  • Hi, M3,

I see we share taste in cars-- an E36 M3 coupe is my daily driver.

  • What kind of carbs weber?

    Great ride. Thanks for posting

  • All 246 Dinos have three 40 DCNF 2-barrel Webers from the factory. Mine has 40 IDF's to prevent the stumbling common on long left turns with the DCNF's.

Thanks for the comment--these cars do sound wonderful!

  • great sound!

  • I understand what you're saying, but the police DO troll youtube looking for people to bust, as they solve a significant number of crimes by doing so. (At least that's what I heard on National Public Radio.)

You are right, I did shift more than I needed to. But personally I like the sound of a double-clutch downshift in this car, and the sound track was the whole idea here.

  • 1) its not that busy 2) I think the police have better things to do than trawel the net for incriminating footage 3) innapropriate gear changes 4) just generally boring driving.

A Dino needs to be driven spiritedly. Give it a good hammering!

  • This guy cant drive for toffee. Amazing soundtrack though

  • What, specifically, would you have done differently?

Remember, (1)this is a public road, shared with cyclists, (2)you are putting it on the web, so the police will have proof of anything illegal you do.

Please respond, as we would all like to benefit from your knowledge.

  • 6 cylinders sounds great, thanks!
