=) beautiful, inspiring video. Congrats on being healthy, and thanks for sharing, it takes alot of courage to go through it, and even more to share it with the world.
Rachael was a smoking dancing ho with rods and a personality disorder to boot. She even had kids later. Rods didnt stop her....she will be in pain later on though. No boat rides for her anymore- too backee
Thaank you so much for this! This kinda of increased my hopes, because I do a treatment but it consists in only exercises. It has helped me, but the curvature still bothers me a lot. Thank you so much for this. Let me just ask you something, you can use the brace underneath your clothes right? You just put it on top of it to show us!?
Wow, my curves are much worse! I didn't find out I had scoliosis until I was finished growing also. I don't know my exact measurements, but I'm 5'4" and the doctors said if my spine was straight I'd be 5'9"! So that's a lot! I hope I can get something like this because I refuse to have surgery.
i have an s scliosis so its a anormal scoliosis because most people have a backwards s and i you look at me fromm the side i have i kind of big s to i dont know how it called n english Sry but i just had a schroth therape and i did lots of sports and its nearly gone
@Groaty16 I didn't waste my time. I used a special kind of Therapy, which helped to stretch out the muscles, and now my scoliosis is completely gone. So no, my time was well-spent, thank you.
I'm a sophomore in highschool and I have scoliosis as well. 13 degrees on top, 20 on the bottom. My mom wants me to get the same treatment you got, she was actually the one who sent me this video :P at first I was totally against it but now I'm warming up to it... I was just wondering about a couple things: 1. How much time per day did you have to do exercises (physical therapy)? 2. How often did you have to visit the doctors? 3. Was there any downside to this treatment?

@emeraldsunshine1995 please can you answer my question? the last time i checked my spine it was 5 degrees, and that was a few months ago... last month i had it checked and it shot up to 14 D: do you know if i can get this treatment anywhere in england, around east anglia? im desperate for treatment :(
@xkatesaur Don't know she has already answered you, but... You go to your normal doctor, like just the one when you feel a bit sick. It was not a buckle version but velcro. i wore it for half way of my 8th grade year. then i lost faith. i got the brace when i had a 28 degree. I only wore it at night and random times at home...i was too embraassed to wear it. i am now at a 40 degree curve. My parents are looking into surgery now. Don't be embarrassed! I was at first, too, but when my friends saw it they thought it was the coolest thing ever! Everyone loved it and wanted to try it on:) haha
Hi Anna, congratulations on your recovery. I'm proud of you! I suffer from scoliosis as well, on two places of my spine ever since I was 17 and now I'm undergoing treatment with a great chiropractor in Barcelona (I live here but I'm actually Dutch). I never thought that scoliosis could give me so many other physical problems (gastrointestinal and neurological). I'm in a 6-month program right now, with the 12 subluxations I have, and your video-diary motivates me even more. Thanks a million!
Thank you for posting this video. Had no clue about Scoliosis Systems, til now. I've had to deal with moderate scoliosis since my teens. All said nothing can be done about it. So next planned trip to LA I will also schedule appointment to ask the folks at scoliosis systems dot com if they agree. Thanks for the tip and glad for your 'impossible' recovery. Take care.
@emeraldsunshine1995 hey its me again. Can u help me? I need suggestions on what to wear. Can u post a vid on that plz? I need lose stuff n clothes that can hide my side n I want them to hide my shoulders 2. Plz help. N can u tel me the website u put on? Couldn't read. Thanks:D
@emeraldsunshine1995 u r like my hero. My life was ruined by scoliosis. I found out I hv it well actually the beginning of 2010 and I felt like I was just some preety face on a ugly body. When I wached this video it made me cry as in tears of joy bcuz u never gave up. I got 2 admit my my1 year in high school, I was considered perfect. N that how I felt too:) I was so happy. I love how u said it made u stronger n that was y god gave it 2u. I always ask my self y would he do dat 2me? So thank u:
I have scoliosis, curves at about 25 and 30. I wore a back brace for three years as a teen. It was so embarrassing for me. I tried to hide my brace under baggy sweatshirts but it made it so my curves didn't get worse as I grew, and I did not need surgery. I am now 22 and I'm sort of proud of my crooked back. and if had to do it all over again, I would wear my brace proud on the outside of my clothes! Thank you for your story! I know a lot of girls have scoliosis, but its easy to feel alone.
@emeraldsunshine1995 I got to admit. I'm 20 years old and it takes a lot to make me emotional. But after watching that video, i got a little teary eyed about the journey you went through. What got me the most was when you said the doctors said there was nothing they could do, but you didn't give up. That's what happens when God performs a miracle on a strong young woman like you, because all along, He had that plan for you. Anyway, hope you're doing great and I hope to hear back soon. God bless
Hi Anna i didnt know anything about scoliosis . I dont have scoliosis , but thank you for letting me see what it is and how you live with it and what you went trew ( Excuse my english im from The Netherlands . I saw that you where thanking your familly friends and the docters for there suport and help etc . Did you send this youtube video to the docters? You should . . Its really good .and the results are great . I can not even see anything anymore.Scolioses or not you look great good luck
@WejYllemS I don't have rods in my back, thank you. And those of us that do would appreciate it if you wouldn't post comments like this.
If you don't have anything helpful to say, please, don't say anything at all. This video is meant to inspire others, not to bring them down, like you're doing a lot of.
Hey! Im a 16 year old guy living in sweden. And I a question :
I have always had a normal back, but now 3-4 days ago I started to feel pain in my back and my hip & chest started to lean to the left. Is this dangerous? I got it after 3-4 days! Please answer this question!
@ATATWalker9000 actually learning how to walk again after the surgery only takes a few days and the risks are not even plausible. Do u even have scoliosis? Bc the rest of us here do and if u dint have a crooked spine then u wouldn't know how it feels to be stared at.
hey, i have scoliosis to, i was diagnosed before i can even rememeber, i just have to go to the doctors every 6 months, twice as many times as normal. luckily i dont have to wear a brace.. or get surgury. i am so thankful that it hasn't progressed and gotten worse. I have a c curve.
I'm so confused why all these people are upset that their doctors say surgery isn't an option at 20 and 25 degrees. I'm not entirely sure you quite understand the same things that your doctors do. This surgery is a surgery with an extremely high risk factor and a recovery time of at least 6 months, which includes learning to walk again. It's not that surgery isn't an option, it is just a terrible option when the effects of scoliosis are still cosmetic.
That's awesome. I was diganosed in 7th grade (Double curviture) and had to get surgery, a brace wasn't an option. Luckily I'm a Christian, otherwise I would have honestly become suicidal. Although in the hospitial I begged God to take my soul. Thankfully he knows a lot more than I do :) And for anyone who has a friend in the hospital with anything, please give them a card with a hand-written message....those are the best things you can get. Anyways your storys awesome (Sorry for focusing on me)
im still being treated by my chiropractor from Canada! :) he's really awesome and from 24 degrees to about ard 15 i think? anyway, i saw my x-ray and the curves tt he drew and i've improved HALF!! :D from then on, i dont believe in doctors treating scoliosis in hospital anyway.. coz i have the same comments from my 2 doctors like u... :/
@gelalehmann ohh.you were young.. i was diagnosed last year, 24 degrees.. and now i just turned 20. i dont think braces would help 'cos i already stopped growing. sucks for me :(
i will be 1 year post op. tomorrow!! if anyone one needs surgery i can answer any questions. because tomorrow will be one year since my op. i will make a spine cake, with 2 rods and 14 screws. my curve was 107 degrees, but now it's 35 degrees. please check out my channel! =D
@answerOfstupids The doctor said it will stay how it is for my whole life. I might get a little more pain than most people when I'm old, but I haven't had back pain for months. =D
@WejYllemS That's not necessarily true... For a lot of people, scoliosis is a blessing that has made them stronger.
I'm sorry you feel that way if you have scoliosis. But try to see the positive side of it:) It's nothing like having plastic surgery, and that wasn't a very nice comment.
@WejYllemS you can't choose to get scoliosis, surgery saved my life. please stop putting rude comments on my video. scoliosis surgery is not an option. it's not like plastic surgery because you choose to get plastic surgery, and that is a little vain and you think you look bad and you think surgery makes it better, but it doesn't. scoliosis is different because it is a deformaty. scoliosis made me stronger and i am grateful for the amazing times i had because of it.
@SquigglyBuddies14 FYI, if scoliosis isn't treated, it can be fatal. It has NOTHING to do with cosmetics. It's pretty pathetic you would say something like that. So why don't you just back off? Do you know how immature you're being bullying people with medical issues? That's just sad.
@WejYllemS HOW DARE YOU say something like that!!! Obiously you do NOT KNOW squat about scoliosis!! YOU try not being able to breathe because you lungs are being squished by your spine. Do you have any idea what the bloody hell scoliosis is?? You should've heard my sister scream in pain! It would've broken your heart, if you even have one! You don't know ANYTHING about it if you would call the these people affected by scoliosis UGLY! You know what that says about you? YOUR HIDEOUS!
@WejYllemS Okay, I asked nicely twice for you to stop being rude and not put nasty comments on my video. You're obviously the only one here who doesn't have a clue about scoliosis and its effects.
So goodbye. Get off my video, and go leave your rude comments somewhere else.
Im happy that you got ur scoliosis fixed so are ways of putting the brace underneath ur clothing or something and didu hav to wear the brace all day or something
I need to ask you if it can limit your activity. like can I do weight lifting after performing the surgery? Does it leave a big ugly scar or can it be fixed? and who is the doctor that performed it for you? and how much did it cost you?
... Continuing it... So she said her sister had it done and the rod is coming out of her neck!!! That scared me! And I talked to another cheerleader and she said that one of her friends had a surgery where they broke the vertebra and replaced it with fake ones, basically reconstructing the spine. That frightened me too. You gave me faith that there is a way to get rid of it(: thank you!
@Sonja2015 Oh my gosh that is really scary!! I definitely recommend trying out the treatment I used:) You will most likely to even cheer with the brace on!! :)
This is really cool! I am 14 years old, done growing, and my curve is 40 degrees. The doctor said 40 degrees is where they start considering surgery... That is the last thing I want. I'm a cheerleader and I was talking to one of the varsity captains about scoliosis because I can't do stunting and tumbling. She said that her sister had the surgery done and that the rod is coming out of her neck. That really made me scared!!! I talked to another cheerleader and she said her friend had a surgery d
@emeraldsunshine1995 talk about sticking it on me right!they told me right there and then and said i had to decide on a date... i have to have an operation but theirs not point stressing about it, thanks for the concern :) what can you do
I have a 45 -54 degree curve but i have been doing alot of stuff, massage, strected, theropy and its really good my hips are straight I got messedes and i went down 10 degrees
As a chiropractor very cool to see. What im still amazed by is how many ortho or pediatricians don't understand how scoliosis can be helped without surgery.
I don't know what type of scoliosis I have. It is sometimes embrassing to wear the brace and it uncomfortable to wear it and i just hate it. Mine is way different then yours. Is surgery tough?
I totally get you... That's why I was so glad to use the brace that I did!
I didn't have the surgery, so I can't give you a personal view of the experience, but from what I've heard and seen from others, it is tough, but it's worth it in the long run.
I highly recommend you to visit my doctors' website to see about possible treatment options!!
@korn4422 dang, but yeah the results look like it was worth it. My only problem is, I will be headed to the army, I have thorasic scoliosis, Im not sure what degree on the COB scale it measures to but it doesnt look bad, its not even noticeable really....but it does cause pain when I stand for periods of time. Im trying to help ease the pain by exersicing and stretching my left side cause my spine is bent to the right.
@emeraldsunshine1995 I definetly will keep workin at it, and thank you! btw, how's your back holding up since your treatment? You still do exercises to keep it in shape?
your a strong young woman My daughter was just diagnosed. I sent you an email. You send a very encouraging message. I do belive that someone is watching over you and my daughter. You give me hope for her future .
Thank you for sharing your journey with us!!! I'm encouraged for my daughter who is 14 and wants to join the Air Force... You used her favorite scripture at the end.
Hey, I'm 17 and I've just started getting pain in my shoulder and noticing that my right shoulder and ribcage are higher than my left, I'm not sure if this is a sign. My doctor isn't available for about a month, so if anyone has any information please let me know as I'm a bit worried now.
To XmissXX.... Don't b terrified! I had a 50-60 degree curve, trust me, it may be hard but you'll get through it! And just be happy you don't have spineibifida( I think that's how u spell it) in a way you are lucky compared to some, but still, you will be fine!!!!
hi anna!!! im margierie from phillippines.. i have also diagnose of having lumbar scoliosis! 2 days a go!! thats why im starting to search what scoliosis about.. you know while watching your video i cry!!! cause i really want to be physically fit for my children!! i dont know how to get the treatment youve done!!i
Congrats Anna! Thank you for posting its very inspiring. I live in Jamaica and Medical treatment her is useless. I do not remember the measurements of my scoliosis but I want to correct it before its too late. Please give me the name and contact number of your chiropractor
Hello Anna! First of all, congratulations on your recovery..
My girlfriend was diagnosed of this early this year.. and I'm no nursing student or anything so I really don't know what to do. I decided to research. My girl's 18 so the same as your case, she has stopped growing already.
I'd do anything just to help my girlfriend recover.. which is why I was led to this video. If you'd let me ask.. Did this treatment had any risk? If not.. How much all in all did it cost?.. Thank you & God Bless!
I have scoliosis but my curves are nearly 50 degrees on top and bottom and my doctors are leaning towards surgery since it's affecting my lungs and ribs an in a way, I want the surgery because my doctors said a brace won't help. Sometimes it's good to have the most painful thing instead of being stuck in a brace that looks super complicated aha. I would've messed that up and put it on wrong.
@sadiez101 Haha. The bracea ctually wasn't that complicated. It was super comfortable (that is, more comfortable than the hard rigid braces. lol) and once you got the hang of putting it on after a few days, it was instinct!
Before you consider the surgery seek alternative methods of correcting your spine. Just do a search on Google. Surgery runs the risk of you being paralyzed or dead if the doctor makes one wrong move with your spine.
VERY GOOD video:) im 13 yrs old and i got diagnosed last yr and i might need a brace about in 6 months and im soo scared did it hurt? You are very inspirational:)
Hello dear Anna!!! I'm Gloria ^_^ Nice to meet you and your journey.
I was shocked by your marvellous story. I'm 24 years old and I have a 30 degrees scoliosis and I tried to win this battle for many years but I'm still here with my 30 degrees also today. I used the rigid brace boston type. What model is yours fantastic brace?
As a Christian With scoliosis I Find it Amazing & extreemely encouraging that you have managed to trust completely in god through this long and difficult journey. Knowing that he does everything for a reason and that he will never leave you! Unlike me, you're lucky! By the time I was diagnosed (about 5 years ago) My curves were 80 Degrees so I went down the surgery route! My back is straight now but due to the large curve, my ribs are quite noticable at the back. Anyway your result is AMAZING..!
me and my mom have scoliosis it hurts like hell all day long it drives me crazy when my mom makes me lift stuff when i have the same problem but mine is mild its not even noticalbe that much
I have scoliosis also. It enables me to do many of things. When I stand up straight my shoulders are slanted and when I bend over one side of my back is bulged out and the otter caved in. My spine looks like a twist. But God has given me this disorder for a reason and I'm going to live with his choice! :)
@emeraldsunshine1995 It would be appreciated if i didn't mention that prayer does nothing? Oh what about how your god prefers pain and suffering(again if he exists). Personally, i'd rather donate a penny to a scoliosis fund, at least then i'd have done more then what you have.
@bokprop420 Well this isn't a place to start drama. I made this video to help others through their scoliosis journeys. So if you're going to post rude comments, I suggest that you post in on another video. You can believe what you want. Just don't post it on an encouraging video, okay? Thanks.
Hi my name is Cynthia I have had scoliosis since I was ten years old I am 21 now and I went form doctor to doctor and they did nothing for me so when I was 19 I went to a doctor that does the spincor brace but that did not help my pain and I did not like wearing it and when I out grew it the curves went back to the degrees that they had been before the brace which they are my top curve is 32 the middle curve is 23 and the bottom curve 20 and I am in a lot of pain and I do not know what to do
wow that is really cool, see i was never told about that treatment. I had a back brace but it wasnt like that, it was completely solid and when i was in it i couldnt stand up or move. So I got really bad and had to get the surgery. I'm glad you were able to do it this way, surgery is not fun! hah. but its all good now, God was good to me, and im healthier than ever!
I'm sorry you ha to go through the surgery! That had to be hard... But everything happens for a reason!! I'm glad you are doing so well and I hope you continue to do so!!! :)
I am happy for you :)

You should be really glad you didn't have to have surgery. I don't know why anyone would want to go through with it if they didn't have to.
My top curve was 53 degrees and my bottom was 67 degrees.

Take care.

God bless

@ATATWalker9000 actually learning how to walk again after the surgery only takes a few days and the risks are not even plausible. Do u even have scoliosis? Bc the rest of us here do and if u dint have a crooked spine then u wouldn't know how it feels to be stared at.
MsAwesome6814 2 months ago
hey, i have scoliosis to, i was diagnosed before i can even rememeber, i just have to go to the doctors every 6 months, twice as many times as normal. luckily i dont have to wear a brace.. or get surgury. i am so thankful that it hasn't progressed and gotten worse. I have a c curve.
TheShawnjohnson123 2 months ago
I'm so confused why all these people are upset that their doctors say surgery isn't an option at 20 and 25 degrees. I'm not entirely sure you quite understand the same things that your doctors do. This surgery is a surgery with an extremely high risk factor and a recovery time of at least 6 months, which includes learning to walk again. It's not that surgery isn't an option, it is just a terrible option when the effects of scoliosis are still cosmetic.
ATATWalker9000 2 months ago
That's awesome. I was diganosed in 7th grade (Double curviture) and had to get surgery, a brace wasn't an option. Luckily I'm a Christian, otherwise I would have honestly become suicidal. Although in the hospitial I begged God to take my soul. Thankfully he knows a lot more than I do :) And for anyone who has a friend in the hospital with anything, please give them a card with a hand-written message....those are the best things you can get. Anyways your storys awesome (Sorry for focusing on me)

@SquigglyBuddies14 having scoliosis is like having an ugly face and getting plastic surgery your still a freak.
WejYllemS 2 months ago
@WejYllemS That's not necessarily true... For a lot of people, scoliosis is a blessing that has made them stronger.
I'm sorry you feel that way if you have scoliosis. But try to see the positive side of it:) It's nothing like having plastic surgery, and that wasn't a very nice comment.
emeraldsunshine1995 2 months ago
@emeraldsunshine1995 thanks. =D
SquigglyBuddies14 2 months ago
@WejYllemS you can't choose to get scoliosis, surgery saved my life. please stop putting rude comments on my video. scoliosis surgery is not an option. it's not like plastic surgery because you choose to get plastic surgery, and that is a little vain and you think you look bad and you think surgery makes it better, but it doesn't. scoliosis is different because it is a deformaty. scoliosis made me stronger and i am grateful for the amazing times i had because of it.
SquigglyBuddies14 2 months ago
@SquigglyBuddies14 FYI, if scoliosis isn't treated, it can be fatal. It has NOTHING to do with cosmetics. It's pretty pathetic you would say something like that. So why don't you just back off? Do you know how immature you're being bullying people with medical issues? That's just sad.

MsRahn27 3 months ago
@MsRahn27 Hey!!
I totally get you... That's why I was so glad to use the brace that I did!
I didn't have the surgery, so I can't give you a personal view of the experience, but from what I've heard and seen from others, it is tough, but it's worth it in the long run.
I highly recommend you to visit my doctors' website to see about possible treatment options!!
emeraldsunshine1995 3 months ago
how much did this treatment cost?
korn4422 3 months ago
@korn4422 Hey!
The brace costs around $3,500.
Expensive, yes. But SO worth it! :)
emeraldsunshine1995 3 months ago
@korn4422 dang, but yeah the results look like it was worth it. My only problem is, I will be headed to the army, I have thorasic scoliosis, Im not sure what degree on the COB scale it measures to but it doesnt look bad, its not even noticeable really....but it does cause pain when I stand for periods of time. Im trying to help ease the pain by exersicing and stretching my left side cause my spine is bent to the right.

LisRYUUZAKI 5 months ago
I have scoliosis but my curves are nearly 50 degrees on top and bottom and my doctors are leaning towards surgery since it's affecting my lungs and ribs an in a way, I want the surgery because my doctors said a brace won't help. Sometimes it's good to have the most painful thing instead of being stuck in a brace that looks super complicated aha. I would've messed that up and put it on wrong.
sadiez101 5 months ago
@sadiez101 Haha. The bracea ctually wasn't that complicated. It was super comfortable (that is, more comfortable than the hard rigid braces. lol) and once you got the hang of putting it on after a few days, it was instinct!
emeraldsunshine1995 5 months ago
@sadiez101
Before you consider the surgery seek alternative methods of correcting your spine. Just do a search on Google. Surgery runs the risk of you being paralyzed or dead if the doctor makes one wrong move with your spine.
